on a slightly related note, I've just updated my Steam (beta) client and discovered that steam have basically duplicated all the good bits of discord in to the steam chat. Hell id go as far as saying its a carbon copy! with the added benefit of having all your steam friends and groups already included.

Teamspeak 3 (skinned) vs discord vs Steam (beta)

Some things that will help the forum help you is:

    1) What is your budget or total amount of cash you want to spend?
    2) Do you have any preferences that you can speak of? (Do you like a flat response, or rather have bass, mid, treble stick out more than others? Do you know what closed back and open back headphones are?)
    3) When it comes to a microphone, are you looking to create content or use it simply for voice chat / team communication?

He wants closed backs. K7XX's are open.

Wouldn't recommend for gaming. Those have a typical Audio Technica closed soundstage (no natural depth, bad for positional audio) and are tuned bright. Technically good for critical listening but not for ideal for enjoyment.

The normal recommendation for closed gaming headphones is the DT770, which should cost you around $100 used or $150 new. I don't think anything else combines what you're most likely looking for (Consumer-friendly sound signature, good gaming potential, sound isolation, comfort) quite as well until you start looking at the SRH1540's, which are usually ~$350 used though used sales are rare or $400-$500 new.

If your primary goal with the microphone is gaming communication, I'd also recommend a Modmic over the Snowball; the boom mic will pick up less background noise and honestly sounds better than a low-end USB mic like the Snowball. If you care a lot about the way you sound you can put together a decent XLR microphone and USB preamp for under $100 that will beat any USB mic.

Seems like an odd combo to me. The headphones you chose with active noise cancelling suggests you're in a very noisy environment, but the mic suggests you have a quiet room and want absolute clarity in your voice. If closed back is your thing, and you're trending towards Audio Technica anyway, why not give the ATH-AG1x a chance?

You really don't need ANC unless you're in a loud environment or planning on taking these with you when you travel (which you may be doing, but you sorta stated you just wanted them for voice chat, not for travel).

For closed I always like the DT770 and the Sony MDR (V6 / 7506) series in this ballpark price range. Oh and of course... uh, we make the aforementioned ModMic, but you get what is best for you .

For gaming headsets, look at Sennheiser's Game Zero, I have one and love it.
I'm using it with Sennheiser's GSX 1200 Pro USB DAC. The GSX is made for Sennheiser's Game series and together they make a great combination.

Here's why, in my opinion, it's so great: The Mic of the Game Zero is arguably the best on any gaming headset and the GSX's digital surround is fantastic. I've tried a lot of digital surround implementations on stereo headsets and nothing comes close to Sennheiser's version. If you like to play any type of adventure game or pretty much anything that isn't a competitive shooter, that surround will enhance your experience greatly (It can be toggled off as well of course). Another great feature of the GSX 1200 Pro is the abilty to exclusively boost your own voice for friends and your friend's voices for you when using for example discord without affecting the overall volume. There's two dials on the thing that let you control that. If you are looking for one of the best gaming headset + DAC combinations, this is what I'd recommend.

When you're only using the mic for voice chat, the Game Zero's is more than enough.
However, since you're looking for "superior sound", maybe a nice pair of headphones plus a Modmic might be a better option for you. That won't be a standalone headset per se, but practically it's very close.

(BTW if you'd be interested in the GSX's surround and would like to hear it, Hardware Canucks have a great review on their youtube channel)

I believe the mass drop for the akg k7xx ended 1-2 hours ago so you'll have to either wait or pick up another decent set of headphones. With your budget id say look at the pinned thread about headphones within your budget and pick up a mod mic as well.

If not the mod mic, still pick put a pair of headphones from that list of closed back and look into something like the blue snowball and a swing arm. I have that same mic and my friends say my voice is crystal clear. The mod mic is simply better if you want the mic attached to your headphones and there's no hassle of setting up "something else" on your desk.

Droidbot's Long Ass SATA 3 SSD Tier List

Arranged in the following order: Tier 1 (Amazing), Tier 2 (Still Good), Tier 3 (Mediocre), Tier 4 (Not The Greatest), Tier 5 (Avoid)
Performance are what SSDs are rated on, value is mentioned based on price at current update. Keep TLC/MLC/SLC in mind before purchase : https://tinyurl.com/slcmlctlc (Does not apply to 3D VNAND, different)
Current Update: 6/04/16 (Changenotes at bottom)

    Tier 1:
    - Samsung 850 EVO/PRO (Generally the highest performing SATA SSDs, hands down) (TLC-3D VNAND)
    - SK Hynix SL308 (Very good value, almost 850-tier performance for $50 less, as well as low power usage, good for laptops!) (TLC)
    - OCZ VX500 (Very good performance and value, better than Trion/Vector) (MLC)
    - Corsair Force LE (Very good value at high capacities with good performance) (TLC)
    - Corsair Neutron XTI (Very good performance, but high price) (MLC)
    - MyDigitalSSD BP5e (Very good performance, very low price) (TLC)
    - Crucial BX100 / Mushkin Reactor (Not as bad as BX200, and surprisingly amazing performance) (MLC)
    Tier 2:
    - Crucial MX300/MX200 (Very good value with strange capacities) (TLC-3D VNAND)
    - ADATA SU800 512GB (Good value, good performance) (TLC-3D VNAND)
    - OCZ Trion 150 / Vector 180 (Very good performance, but can choke in some situations) (TLC)
    - SanDisk Extreme Pro / WD Black (Good performance, high price and not good value) (MLC)
    - PNY CS2211 (Very good value with better performance) (MLC)

    Tier 3:
    - ADATA SP900 (Decent performance, decent value) (MLC)
    - WD Blue / SanDisk X400 (Decent performance, very mediocre.. expensive for what it is) (TLC)
    - Intel 540S (Not the best value, but not the worst either. Decent performance) (TLC)
    - OCZ Trion 150 (Not the best value, not the worst performance either) (TLC)
    - Samsung 750 EVO (Mediocre SSD, above average performance. Dies in the ass under heavy loads) (TLC)
    - Intel 530 (Decent average performance, handles load quite well) (20nm MLC, be careful of endurance!)
    - Crucial MX100 (Doesn't handle load very well, similar to the M550, but good overall performance besides that) (20nm MLC, be careful of endurance!)
    - Intel 730 (Good performance, handles load quite well) (20nm MLC, be careful of endurance!)
    - ADATA SU800 128/256GB (Decent performance, dies in the ass under heavy loads) (TLC-3D VNAND)
    - SanDisk Ultra II/Ultra PLUS (Alright average performance, doesn't handle heavy loads that well) (TLC)
    - Mushkin Triactor (Good performance, good value) (TLC)
    - PNY CS1311 (Very good value with good performance) (TLC)

    Tier 4:
    - SanDisk SSD PLUS / Z410 (Inconsistent performance, pretty cheap. Changes components often.) (MLC)
    - Kingston HyperX Fury (Good read, mediocre write speeds) (SMLC)
    - Plextor M6S (Doesn't handle load very well, worse than MX100, but average performance) (MLC)
    - OCZ Trion 100 (Mediocre performance, slow as fuck writes, not recommended, the 150 is better) (19nm TLC)

    Tier 5:
    - Samsung 840 EVO (has issues with the cells wearing out quickly, don't buy used) (19nm TLC)
    - Kingston SSDNOW V300 (reviews are good, but sketchy shit pulled by Kingston make this bad) (MLC)
    - Crucial BX200 (bad performance for the money, horrible latency and service times) (early TLC)
    - Kingston SSDNOW UV400 (mediocre performance, slow reads, go for something better) (early TLC)
    - OCZ TL100 (VERY SHIT performance, 94MB/s Seq Writes for fucks sake) (TLC)
    - ADATA SP550 (Trades blows with the BX200, a little faster and without the BX200's flaws, however APPARENTLY has cell drift like the 840 EVO as reported by @zMeul) (TLC)

    How I rate SSDs:

Any requests for new SSDs to be added with proof or other SSDs to be changed with proof are welcome.

You don't need a sound card for gaming.  Gaming soundcards area literally just the same components on your typical onboard or cheaper soundcard, slapped onto a PCB with some extra shielding, and sold to consumers for a huge markup.

If you want to spend money, you get a Schiit Fulla 2 / Micca Origen, those are half the price and offer better quality and features.  If the thing you really wanted was that control center that could go on your desk, they have it, as both have an up-facing volume knob great for desk use.

A week ago i updated windows 10 (updated , not installed...) and after that my sound was like 50% of what it actually is... maybe even less!
There are also some new ''enchancements'' but even though i played with them , it didnt rly do any difference. Please help!
When i do sound tests or if it kinda ''bugs'' while changing settings on volume in games for example, the sound is heard normally for like a milisecond.
Anyway i need some help, probably there is a setting or sth blocking me from having normal sounds
