Master Delta Chief reacted to shoutingsteve in Gamers Nexus calling out Linus for monetizing on his own controversy
Actually, Amazon is far from heartless.  Despite making so much money that they don't need any more of mine, they have the best and easiest return policy I have ever had to deal with.  Businesses that would otherwise have no way of reaching customers can sell an amazon.  It's not as terrible as people think.  The stories about the working conditions are a bit blown out of proportion: at least here in the Ohio warehouse.  They have plenty of bathrooms and people get fired for plenty of reasons, but almost never for not packing boxes fast enough.

As much as I'm not a fan of government intervention into the free market the fact that some companies *cough* Apple *cough* refused to use something so widely accepted and just as technically advanced as their proprietary crap is beyond stupid. It shouldn't have taken government intervention to act on something that is beyond common sense from an engineering perspective. Why waste tons of man hours reinventing the wheel?

simple fix netflix could do is just verify accounts every 30days just like anything else now days

Master Delta Chief got a reaction from jagdtigger in Sharing is Caring......or not.. at least according to Netflix, pay up.
I don't think it should be repeated, but practices like these will push people further into pirating content that said platform produces/offers. This is simply out of greed, nothing more. They have garnered a lot of money over the past two years so they can basically shut the hell up about that. I'd consider this to be more of a malpractice towards consumers at the end. Just let people share their accounts. If they're paying for it, then that's that. No need to increase the price for that. Life's already expensive so why need to make it more difficult for others to enjoy some entertainment.

Oh and before they start with that this is simply out of security for the user, it's their responsibility. If their account gets hacked because of the sharing, it's a risk you are going to take regardless. It's up to the platform to implement PROPER security checks to ensure that it doesn't happen or at the very least minimize it.

This has been against tos (or Eula, one of the two, don’t know what it’s called in this case) since Netflix did digital streaming, and they’re reminding you of such.
not sure why your mad at this, they’re not doing anything shady, illegal, or wrong in any way

Also being on 12 doesn't mean it's more secure, disanalagous point really, and this exploit is even an example of that.

Master Delta Chief reacted to Video Beagle in DRM printing paper.... How low can they go now?
Then that's what that market sector has decided it wants. Because companies don't just do shit. They figure out the costs..which include lost business from people not wanting their DRM system...will be offsets by the gains.
And if no one's calculations show that having no drm paper gives them a competitive advantage, then it's not something that market cares about.

Master Delta Chief reacted to 8tg in Windows Defender oversight allows malware to run undetected.
im suggesting average windows users share 1 brain cell per 2-3 windows keys, and the reason why antivirus of any variety exists at all is because people are on average very stupid and manage to do many dumb things which end with them installing something malicious on their pc
and secondarily the fear hyping over viruses and malware or whatever is boosted primarily by the companies providing the software or services against these things because they too can make a profit off of stupid people

i havent used any kind of antivirus, firewall or any of that stuff pretty much my whole life because i have a vague idea of how to remain generally secure on the internet, and those things are more hassle than theyre worth, half of the 3rd party options are just malware of their own type, windows defender refuses to leave my system alone, and it likes to delete things that it doesnt personally agree with without asking me, firewall and the UAC stuff is just aggravating and wastes my time when i get booted out of a program because the firewall wants to ask me real quick if its ok for this program to access my microphone
its one of the first things i do with any windows install, disable all of that, on any version of windows

hell, ive posted here from windows xp, i actually regularly use that xp machine to browse the internet as its a good host for music and old games

i paid for my LTSC activation via my workplaces activation servers we use for our computers there, because this machine is also regularly used for things like bluezone/SPIN and redprarie dock management software when i need to work from home
    i wouldnt pirate windows because
    1) the above entire context of not doing something dumb that can get malicious software onto your system
    2) its only like 300$ to be added to the KMS and my company reimbursed me anyway

It's still stealing. People worked hard on that content. Never mind the hit to the company's revenue; just be a decent person and reward the creators for their effort. If you walked up to an actor, effects editor or camera operator and told them you'd pirated their movie, they wouldn't say "thank you..." they'd wonder why you were so selfish.

    My Thoughts
It just goes to show the security for all devices is important. We've seen this before during Pewdiepie vs T-Series in which Chromecasts and once again printers were easily exploited. A common issue is people having UPNP enabled on their routers, usually by default that causes the printers to be exposed to the internet. In a work environment, it's even more important as insecure printers can be used as a launching point for more advanced and serious attacks as seen with the Stuxnet attack and talked about in detail at Blackhat conventions

Anyway, I think I've found the perfect workplace (both in terms of cash and the people I work with) after changing job so many times. It may be the hill I'll stick with till the end, or till I decide to finally open my own bar and be done with programming for good.

Understand basic economics should be a requirement before signing on the line.

It's a matter of supply and demand. University seats and the professors time are limited resources. The more people demand, the higher the price goes (and requirements) until an equilibrium is reached. When gov backed loans are available, the market adjusts by raising tuition higher. What people are witnessing is a feed-back loop. More loans, higher tuition, more loans to chase the increase, lather rise repeat.

Not everyone can afford a University, nor should they expect to be entitled to one.

True, and yet just like with gambling there are more or less risky bets you can make - crypto being one of the riskiest. Plus, it's investment in something that is effectively useless, particularly with these random altcoins that nobody will ever accept as currency. At least when you buy stocks of a company you're theoretically financing something productive.
And those who risk and lose get worse than nothing, meaning debt. You're welcome to buy all the lottery tickets you want, just remember that only a few people ever win and the rest have effectively burned their money.
Good for you, I'm not saying it's impossible to make some money from crypto speculation. Personally I just find the whole concept repulsive (much like other forms of stock speculation), but that's beside the point.
