ScubaSteve404 reacted to Wormhole in Can my motherboard handle 5ghx overclock on a i3 7350k?
Yeah it'll be fine, I wouldn't go over 1.35v with that CPU though

ScubaSteve404 reacted to DogKnight in what are the best budget lga775 cpu
About a year ago I got a Q9505. Was very happy with that for the price. Core 2 Quad - 2.83ghz. Was $30 AUD ($21 USD). Was a nice upgrade over the E8500.
The Q9550 is almost the same but has double the cache and tends to sell for quite a bit more as you are getting closer to the top SKU's for the socket.

ScubaSteve404 reacted to porina in Is CRT really bad for you ?
It wasn't just the light, but if there might be other electromagnetic radiation being pumped out towards the viewer. I don't think that argument went anywhere either.

i plan on getting the asus sabertooth X58 mobo with one of the two xeons, either the W3690 or X5690, overclocked as far as reasonably possible on air with a 980 ti or two and 24GB of DDR3 to make a beastly gaming and editing rig

R3 2200G use the pretty alright iGPU until you have money for a better GPU, or until next gen GPUs launch.

ScubaSteve404 reacted to Sniperfox47 in "Linux, OS X and Everything Not-Windows" Subforum
I would vote for "Unix based OSes". And then we could have another subforum for RTOSes, Fuschia, and others called "Other OSes".

ScubaSteve404 reacted to SCHISCHKA in "Linux, OS X and Everything Not-Windows" Subforum
"Turnip" is not a bad idea. People might get lost but it would avoid the daily poll that gets started about which linux distro is best.
i think it could just be called "NOT Windows systems"
I voted for Turnip.

ScubaSteve404 reacted to divito in FCC orders net neutrality repeal
It's grown to consolidate providers, section off areas of the market to protect mutual interests, and lead to throttling of traffic. What part of any of that is "fine?"
-
ScubaSteve404 reacted to Okjoek in FCC orders net neutrality repeal
Wasn't the whole thing adopted because of Netflix being throttled in the first place? Or does that fall under the definition of "fine"?

ScubaSteve404 reacted to ARikozuM in Hardware bug in Skylake and Kaby Lake : Unsafe Hyper-Threading
HT doesn't do any calculations for the CPU. What it does is schedules calculations for lower down-time.
