  1. I need a good quality LED strip to go round the back of my desk and around my PC. I would prefer a digital strip however this is not essential as I would like to also keep costs down. For the strip inside the PC, I have a Gigabyte H170M-DS3M and I don't think it has an led header on the board so I can't connect it there. It doesn't need to be waterproof but I would like a good quality strip with a strong adhesive.
  2. So if I get a router, then i can just connect the server and the PCs straight to the router and everything should work fine?
  3. Ok sorry I'm more of a hardware guy. So just having a switch like this would be appropriate, or could you recommend something better?
  4. I am doing a small project and have my server set up on windows server 2016. Windows server OS is running on the server computer and I wanted to know how I can connect other PCs to the main server. I think its as simple as just plugging in a bunch of Ethernet cables into the main server, which connect to the individual PCs. If so, could I just buy a 3 port network card and plug it into the PCIe slot as there will only be a maximum of three computers on the network. I don't want to have the computers connect to the server wirelessly, and where possible I would like to keep costs down. So, does my method of buying the network card work, and if not, what other alternatives are there. Thanks.
  5. Not large, just written documents, in total each user will only need 2GB or less
  6. The maximum number of people that will be on is under 10, most likely under 5, and I want to run what I think is a active directory, where I can make changes/updates on one computer and that will change it for all the others. Backup I should be able to do fine and I have most of the computer hardware.
  7. The things I wanted to focus on were: -File Sharing -Networking -Internet Sharing -Restrictions -Active Directory (???) -Security, which is one of the main of the main concerns seeing as it is a cyber security test And then can I just run the active directory off one computer then sort of 'add' others when needed. Also anything else I need to know or you can correct me on, Thanks.
  8. I mean more like; should I use software like freeNAS, on this will I be able to install anti-malware and have user accounts etc, will FreeNAS actually work for what I am doing, what other software could I use etc.
  9. I am starting a small business and it must pass a cyber essentials test so we are viable to trade. I have attached the criteria below, and I need help in picking the correct type of server, what software to use etc. in order to pass these parameters. As we weren't really planning to use a server anyway all it needs to do is comply with the criteria, and there are only a couple of us if that helps. I am open to buying some hardware (we have spare computers) however where possible, I would prefer to keep the costs down, Thanks.
