Hopefully it's just gpu and they have a replacement already sent when you get back. I've had a psu last over 10yr without issues and that's back when I played WoW every free moment. If you don't have a multimeter or are not comfortable testing a live wire while it's running to see what the psu is sending out you could also maybe get one of those 2xmolex to 6/8pin wires if they say it wasn't the gpu and test that. It's not ideal but they only a couple bucks and if the pcie power is having issues then this way you could test getting power a different route from a failing psu to get you by until you can get another.

In case you were curious on an update. I changed to a new and bigger wattage psu and the problem is now fully gone. Card runs fine maybe even abit better then what it used to

since the other pcie card you tested in the same port that only showed 2x for the gpu showed 8x.. it should be the gpu..

So to give an update, i RMA'd  the 6900xt and they did a 24 hour stress test in furmark, 18 hour stress test in 3d mark time spy and a 20 hour stress test in heavens benchmark and found no issues with the card and tested it on several systems. So im 100% sure its rhe psu thats spikes or something. So im gonna swap it out

yeah.. sometimes i'm blind.. tried to restore windows to a state before you installed new drivers?

i tried to see if i could but by the time i thought of it, it was too late and only had recover states from after it happened.

Im gonna be sending the card in on warranty as the support i talked to thought it could be the gpu fault and they wanted to test it.  And since i'll be at work for 4 weeks and wont be able to use my pc anyway im gonna do that. Then hear what they say if its the cards fault or not

the thing is during such tests its running full tilt, or close to… thats what the psu can handle… if u watch yt or play a game or even at idle there are spikes, thats what the psu cant handle, because it wasnt  designed for that (as in newer gpus will have bigger spikes)

hence … its the psu, clearly.

Thats what i have been thinking too, but then how could it handle it for 2+ weeks of the exact same games on the exact same tuning mode. And without issues. This started the same day amd drivers 22.3.1 was released. But the issue remained after doing DDU and installing the old driver again

If it's not psu. I had this EXACT same issue and couldn't figure it out for months because sometimes I could go a day without the issue. It ended up being the hdmi cable just was getting too hot. I was only doing 1080p and it was rated for that but it was the culprit and the cable still works fine for a switch but not for my pc. Since your using 2x monitors I would test it with 1 monitor going and see if it still happens. Lastly by any chance do you also have a USB screen plugged in? Like one of those small 3.5inch ones that show Temps and load? That was my latest issue causing gpu to disable itself so figured I would ask.

I'd love to test that, but im using display ports and i currently only have two of them. And the bigger reason i cant test it atm is im going to work for 4 weeks now. Im going to send the card back on warranty and have them check it out to see if its faulty or not while im at work. Then im gonna go from there and hear what they say afterwarss.

    How old is your PSU?

Do you have a spare PSU you can try?

If not, I do know at least which component will be cheaper to replace. 😆

I dont have a spare psu and im leaving for work early next week. Was thinking of bringing my gpu ho a friend when i come home and properly check though. My psu is 10 or 9 years old, but it is an 850w 80+gold

simple thing if the fans/led on gpu r still up its ur gpu if there not prob psu

Fans, lights and are still on, even audio continues to play for a while. Its just that i have been looking up sudden loss of vudeo output and there seems to be alot of things pointing at my psu is starting to fail. I really dont know though and its bothering me alot

  8. So since the 17th i have been having this issue where i suddenly lose video output on both monitors at random, first i thought it was my new 6900xt that i had gotten a few weeks before that got weird after the latest drivers update but it still happened after going back to the previous version.

This happens while im just browsing reddit or watching a video on youtube or when im playing games. I have tried running prime 95 at the same time as i use the tress test inside amd adrenalin software, and it went conpletely fine. But then some time after i suddenly lose video output.

Only way to get back the output is to restart my pc, most of the time it goes by well and other times i have had a few issues like gpu drivers being suddenly gone/uninstalled, several cycles of turning it on and off until it works. Im pretty lost on what to do but im starting to think its my psu that is quite old by now is starting to fail but why doesnt it fail while stress testing?

so i have this noise you heard in the middle of that clip coming from my pc. it has been annoying me to no end and have not been able to figure out what is making it.

it came after i changed cpu cooler (to a noctua NH-d15) but i have gone  from 20% fan speed all the way up to 100% fan speed on my cpu and other fans in my pc and the sound doesnt appear at all when i try that. it only appears while im in idle and just browing on my pc. while im playing games i have not been able to hear it.

sometimes the sound can be very frequent or just once a few minutes. i am beginning to think it might be one of my two hdd's but the sound is appearing even as both are at 0% usage in task manager

i really need help cause its making me want to throw the case out and just use a cardboard box

I get where the guy is coming from and well we can already easily do that. Also a whole high detail charachter model can easily be textured fully with a couple mb when the textures are saved as jpgs or something. Sure you can use lossless but that's not really going to show anyways when the materials are applied to the surface where the texture is on and those materials are usually just xml makeup language that direct a shader.

We have been seeing these crowd things in games like deadrising, ac unity,... and it's totally doable. Sure you can now do stupid high res textures but that's pointless in almost any games because lets be honest who is going to pause and look at every random npc's face is massive detail.

Another thing is that most textures are just saved in the gpu memory as their highest allowed setting and cached there for loading so the storage device doesn't get accessed too much and they are just dynamically scaled with lods.

World size is another thing. It's more of a limit in the engine than anything really. Infinite worlds are perfectly possible and can be done with masking load zones. Faster storage will help with smoother transitions between load zones and more inbetweens but not much more.

okay thanks, helped me understand what he ment alot better

This guy is basically saying "PS5 is always fast (because all console gamers have the same box, with the same things in it, while on PC you have people with ancient PC's and super old PC's".

Then he has some math around textures.

Okay, cool? Let's just wait before the machine comes out, before comparing storage speed numbers.

Let's see if the rest of the components can keep up too.

okay, i was just having a hard time following some of the stuff he wrote, still feels like he used "big words" just to sounds better but idk. might just be me not understanding it dues to some language barrier or something lol

I am lacking the context here, but in this case I think ubiquitous/ubiquity is another way of saying 'widely used'.

As in saying "they won't be ubiquitous", is another way of saying "they [fast SSD's I think?] won't be widely used by PC gamers". So 'the problem of ubiquity', is saying every PS5 gamer will have a fast drive, but not all PC gamers will (so the game programmers can't rely on all users having fast storage).

But again, I am lacking the context.

Plus PCIE 4.0 x4 speeds are closer to 8GB/s, rather than 7GB/s (it's 7.88GB/s). Not sure if these numbers are important though, as you will still need a drive being able to keep up with these speeds and enough RAM to actually be able to do something with this data.

might as well just link the whole post tbh

this is all the context really unless you want the whole thread

  14. i have a problem understand what this guy is talking about, just feel like hes using big words. also isnt the speed of the new ps5 ssd 5.5GB/s and 8-9GB/s just theoretical?

I have no idea why you'd put the price in USD then. Even in NOK:

    PCPartPicker Part List
    Type Item Price
    CPU AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor kr5896.80 @ CDON NO
Motherboard Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard kr2492.00 @ CDON NO
Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts
      Total kr8388.80
      Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-04-11 15:16 CEST+0200

The deal still isn't very spectacular, when adding a more feature rich motherboard.

But if you wanna drop some cash on a Ryzen 12 core just for the sake of it, you might as well.

cause its easier for people outside of norway to understand the price, and if you see the price for the ryzen 9 3900x you linked in that pc partpicker is 578$ that a 100$ more then the one i can currently buy.... which translate to 1000nok ish

so yes 475$(4850nok ish) is a good deal for an 3900x for me

Edit: and besides, it's not even a good deal

    CPU AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor $434.00 @ Amazon
    Motherboard Asus PRIME X570-P ATX AM4 Motherboard $147.00 @ B&H

its a good deal for me here in norway, could go for a cheaper mobo, but then i'd need to sacrifice some features i want

Your ISP is faster than mine, could be that you are using same M.2 drive for the games and OBS. However with a TB not to sure on that one.

Are you saying choppy on stream/OBS or FPS in game?

Are you set up like this

this is what i used last time i streamed. been trying a loads of differrent settings so never been on just one typ. same issue on streamlabs obs

    OBS.png

stream is butter smooth and runs at 1080p 60fps. so when i play without streaming my fps will be around 90-110 in MW but when im streaming it will be around 90-100 with a lower average. but for some reason that change makes it so it feels like im playing on my monitor locked at 60hz and not 144hz

  19. 13 hours ago, Syaoran said:

Do you have OBS open on a different monitor with a different refresh rate?

That's a current issue and it has happen to me.

Also, try having your game open as Fullscreen and not borderless nor windowed

i do yeah, i have the OBS on my second monitor that is only 60HZ but same resolution 1440p. i always have my games in fullscreen unless the games start acting weird whenever i alt tab.

  20. hey, so i wanna stream everynow and then for my friends just for fun, but whenever i do i feel like my games get really choppy and laggy the second i turn my stream on, and its fine when i turn it off.

my frames do drop abit but not that much to feel like its a constant choppyness to it and my fps sits around 90-200 depending on the game and whats going on in that game.

i have tried software encoding from ultrafast to fast and slow. same with hardware encoding with ma quality and max performance. with 6000 to 8000 bitrate on. my internet is 300/300

i have  an i7 7700k at 4.49/GTX 1080TI/16gb ram at 3200 and all the games i play are on an m.2 ssd
