What's going on with Windows laptop quality as of late?  I know glitches in laptops are far from unheard of, but lately there's been a rash of reports about problems with Dell, Lenovo and others... and it's not the $400 Best Buy specials that have always been crappy, but the premium XPS and ThinkPad models where you'd expect at least some consideration for build quality.

Maybe you didn't upload one, but people are dumb and upload photos of you without your approval. That's the main problem. Coz people don't think that far that just maybe, some of us don't want our photos online.

Pshh. At least we can get a refund. Cements my hate of Epic Store just a little bit more.

That's about as ignorant as saying "using a car that's more than 4 years old is without any good reasons, period and end of story".

It's only "without any good reasons" if you ignore things like compatibility and cost (both in terms of time and licensing cost).

Upgrading a large company to new computers can cost a company hundreds of thousands of dollars fairly easily. As well, many companies use integrated software that has yet to be fully updated, has incompatibilities with windows 10 at it's core, or simply can not be ran on current hardware.

Ever heard of Duke Nukem Forever?

A bad game is a bad game. A good game is a good game. That's it. I'd rather tune out than be hyped for something that could still flop.

I'm old fashioned. I don't need your fancy new browser. I use the X button on the browser and I use my phone for coms. With "gaming" branding it better come with RGB.

Jito463 reacted to Brooksie359 in MPC Vancouver (studio behind the sonic redesign) Shutdown effective immediately
In my line of work people talk and if you talk crap about a former employer most places will steer clear because they take it as more of a liability than anything else. I mean yeah they could be being truthful but no company wants someone who is going to tell everyone all their faults as soon as they leave. I am fairly certain that most of them are not going public and staying anonymous for a reason similar to this.

I dont think it would even be about winning a court case but rather their career that would be the issue. You go and public air your former employers dirty laundry and you are going to have a hard time finding another place to hire you. Who wants to hire someone who would potentially do something similar to them of they ended up having to let them go for some reason or another.

Jito463 reacted to Mira Yurizaki in German Network Agency says 56 KBit/s is a functional internet connection.
Because most times web designers just want to jerk off to the latest technology without figuring out the impact of it. I don't think most of them are programmers, or at least to the extent that they don't understand that they shouldn't rely on the web equivalent of Moore's Law to make up for their poor designs and implementations.

I can make a web page with basic animations and even a tabbed interface that hides/shows content based on what tab you press. All without touching a single line of JavaScript or making an animated image or movie. Granted, the CSS and HTML look a bit hacky at first glance, but to me it proves you don't need all this crap to do something nice.

Jito463 reacted to Mira Yurizaki in German Network Agency says 56 KBit/s is a functional internet connection.
Disclaimer: I don't endorse saying the minimum internet speed that can be offered in any serious capacity should be 56kbps

Let's step back for a second and think about what the internet is primarily meant for: an exchange of information. We can easily exchange this information via text. Though pictures can also help, we also don't need super high resolution images and for digital graphics, you can most likely get away with SVG. Not to mention we can compress this information quite well.

If we're talking purely "functional" as in, getting rid of the excess, then 56K is "functional." Heck, it doesn't even need to be pure HTML. You can have HTML + CSS be small enough and still have a decent looking website. The only reason why higher speeds is desirable is because many websites keep adding more and more crap, using assets that are too large for where they're actually used (our user images are 240x240, but no where is this size actually used on this forum), among other things.

You have to ask yourself, do we need high speed internet because websites have grown to be an average size of 3MB, or did these websites grow to an average size of 3MB simply because we've had increasing access to higher speed?
