  1. Stumbled across a video on Rumble that said a channel was hit with a copyright strike by T2/RS simply for talking about the leak, not even showing any footage, pictures of the forum or mentioning the leaker's username. Not terribly familiar with the channel (the one linked below), I've only seen it peripherally connected to some other channels I sometimes watch. The one that got banned I have no knowledge of. https://rumble.com/v1ks1nu-rockstar-strikes-channel-for-talking-about-gta-6-leak-never-go-full-naughty.html
  2. Same here. Unless I'm directly annoyed or disgusted by a particular video/channel, I just ignore them and go on my way. I will say I'm actively trying to make myself use Rumble more, though their live streaming could be a bit smoother.
  3. I'd rather see the opposite, personally. I'm still hoping to see Half-Life: Alyx outside of a VR environment, as I do not ever plan to have a VR system (I know someone found a way to play using debug codes, but I read that it was buggy and that the debug commands were also patched out). If not that, then Valve could at least continue where they left off with HL2:E2. It's been 15 years since Episode 2 was released, and then silence since then, aside from the aforementioned VR game that I will likely never play. If someone could make a mod to play VR only games outside of a VR system, that's something I would be willing to pay for.
  4. Out of curiosity, I decided to see how it worked. The entire thing is held in place with tape. No thanks, I'll deal with some extra printing if it means I don't need to worry about my firearm slipping down into my pants.
  5. First we have to get the bulk of manufacturing out of China. That's the real battle. The issue isn't China in general, it's the CCP specifically. And we all better hope they don't continue gaining power like they have been.
  6. Not always. Even in the US, where this was literally the driving force behind the Constitution and our founding documents, it doesn't always work out exactly like that. It should, but not necessarily. You don't think there are countries in the world, where the government acts in direct opposition to the best interests of the people? I mean, just look at what happened the past two years alone. I don't think you truly understand what free market capitalism is. Ripping people off is not a hallmark of the free market. It certainly can happen in a free market, but it's not the basis of it.
  7. Nope, can't say I have. Are you sure about that? I found these through just a simple search, imagine if I really went digging. And all of this was just within the past 10 years. 8. I've noticed it on multiple demo laptops. We let them go to sleep overnight, and then wake them up in the morning. Only one laptop out of 5 or 6 with 11 (the others still have 10) would focus directly on the 'Sign in' button. The rest I have to Tab over to it.
  9. Actually, I'm just trying not to get the thread locked. Unless things have changed, I know the mods used to be pretty quick about tamping down "political discussion", especially in the news section. Of course, if someone like you posts "politically correct" theories, then they're left up. I'll send you a couple links to some YT videos I found in a quick search, just to give you some ideas.
  10. Hmm, I'll have to test that the next time I get a chance. Though my method does work already, so it's not a huge concern either way, I'm just curious now.
  11. Maybe they used an early build of 11 when your laptop was sent out? All I know, is that when I install 11 on computers at work, I always have to connect to the internet for updates, or it won't let me get past the network connection screen.
  12. It can be done, it just takes some extra effort. During the setup process, when it asks for internet, you only connect it hardline with an ethernet cable. After it updates and prompts you for an account sign in, just unplug the cable and go back a page. Voila, local account setup. I've been using that trick with Windows 10 Home for years. Even though you don't technically need internet during setup on 10 (and thus automatically skip the MS account login), I still prefer it so Windows grabs as many drivers/updates as it can before signing in the first time. I've felt that way from the first time I played with it. The UI appearance isn't a favorite of mine, but at least you can put the taskbar back in its traditional space of the left side, and the rest I could deal with. However, there's so many other changes that just leaves me shaking my head. I used to be able to right click on a file and press 'Shift+D' to delete, that no longer works because they changed the context menu. Now you have to click on an icon, or click another link to get the traditional context menu (unless you modify the registry to restore the Windows 10 context menu). You also used to be able to drag/drop items onto the taskbar, they've only finally added it back according to this news post. Took them long enough for a feature that so many people use constantly. What about something simple like being able to just click enter to login without a password from sleep? In 10 you could click the 'Enter' key on the keyboard to wake the computer, then press it again to sign right in. With 11 you have to either move the mouse cursor or hit the 'Tab' key to click on 'Sign in'. So many annoyances, I can't even count them all. It seems like every time I work with 11 at the store, I find yet another annoying change they've made that seems to be change for the sake of change, not for any good reason.
  13. So in 40+ years, we went from 30 years until we run out, to 100 years. So 100 years from now, will we be 300-400 years from running out? It's obvious you've bought into the hype, so I'm not going to try and change your mind (especially so the mods don't lock it down for political talk), I would just advise you to do some research into the alarmism of the 70's and 80's, and how it pertains to the alarmism of today. There's a reason I don't trust any of these so-called scientific studies. Um, no.
  14. Are you saying one has? Last I heard that wasn't the case, but feel free to share.
  15. Hopefully it dies along with all other crypto. Yeah, that's my primary concern. Hah! Limited, that's funny. I mean, if by limited it's not 'technically' infinite, I suppose so. However, people have been crying about the end of "fossil fuels" since the 70's, and yet we continue to find more. Not looking to make this political, but I couldn't let that stand uncontested. So far as Crypto goes, I couldn't give a rat's patootie about the waste of electricity (though it is rather pointless, in my opinion). My primary issue with it is that there's literally nothing behind. Yeah, I've heard the counter argument of "but neither does the dollar!", which isn't exactly accurate. The USD (or any other currency) has the backing of that nations economy, whereas crypto is literally just a math equation. The previous comparisons in this thread to stocks would be more apt, in my opinion, except that even stocks are backed by the performance of the company they belong to. Crypto lacks even that stability. Crypto is not a currency, nor will it be unless a nation takes it on as such. It's a commodity, and a fairly worthless one at that.
  16. What are you talking about? I work at a small computer shop in Nebraska, and we sold several of them back in the day. I guarantee they were available in retail. Nvidia and AMD seem to go back and forth on the state of their drivers. Sometimes AMD drivers are lousy, other times it's Nvidia. The only consistent issue I've had with AMD is their laptop APU's (pre-Ryzen) and Windows 10. It's a huge pain finding a compatible driver that won't cause Windows to hang every few seconds.
  17. That's not a bad idea, really. It would simplify so much.
  18. You know, upon further reflection I feel I should retract my previous statement of incredulity. I work at a small computer store, and I can recall two specific cases where we've repaired the broken digitizer on a cell phone, only to have the customer leave and then immediately return because they've already dropped their phone and broken it again. I realize it's anecdotal, and definitely not something everyone deals with, but I suppose there are those klutzes out there who will continually drop and break stuff. **cough** Linus **cough**
  19. Do people really break their stuff so often, that twice is year is far too limiting? Sheesh.
  20. They already are. They're not very widespread, and often it involves using a third party, but it does exist. Unless you meant that it needs to become more common.
  21. The main reason for including USB 2.0 still is for backwards compatibility with older operating systems. If you try to use an older OS, and it doesn't have the drivers for USB4, then you can't use your keyboard/mouse. If there would be a way to mimic USB 2.0 compatibility, then it would be a moot point. While the issue is fairly niche, it's still a legitimate reason. It's part of the reason you still see single PS2 ports on newer motherboards.
  22. Eh, I only have one person I supported on Patreon, and I've been planning to move to his Locals anyway, so I guess this is as good a time as any.
  23. It doesn't matter how much USB-IF states what the marketing terms should be, if they don't have any way to enforce it. Going back to the previous comparison about HP and AMD, I'm quite sure that AMD has specific contractual obligations surrounding the marketing terms HP is and is not allowed to use. This is what any responsible company would do. If USB-IF doesn't want to get blamed for lousy marketing, then they need to take greater control over this and ensure all companies conform to the same terminology. The current system only serves to engender confusion for the end users, and it's only going to get worse if they don't do something about it.
  24. Yes actually, I would. The company behind the product is responsible for controlling the marketing of it. If they let the other companies using their product advertise them however they want, then the brand gets diminished and it helps no one. It's not about being a dictator, but it is about controlling the marketing.
