  1. This forum is extremely toxi and extremely judgemental. I work for a living and this is a workstation computer not a gaming computer. an i9-9900K will not cut it. I love how everybody in here is an expert on what my specific needs are when they don't even know what I do for a living or how this CPU fits into my workflow. Amazing forum! Closing my account, nothing but toxic AF insecure people. You guys should tell Linus that he doesn't need any HEDT cpu's in any of his employees workstations! Because a i9-9900k is just fine!! Seriously guys, get a life or some knowledge.
  2. Yea, it's the thickness of the fans. I guess I should go with a front mounted 360mm rad. That would probably be the easiest and most hassle free decision as I'm tired of looking at cases that could fit a top mounted 280mm rad with my mobo.
  3. Trolls like you are the reason I hate posting on tech forums asking for advice. If you don't have anything good to say don't say it all. I have the money for a $1700 CPU. I don't like AMD. I don't like people with insecurity issues like yourself running an extremely cheap AMD cpu posting to my thread to judge my expensive taste. Is this CPU worth the price tag? Maybe not. But it's what I want, I don't want a Threadripper, so thank you for your helpful comment and have a great time with your el cheapo AMD system.
  4. I am putting in a i9-9960x into a new system and need a new case. I was going to get the Corsair 570x but it appears the top might not have enough clearance for my x299 msi gaming pro carbon ac motherboard. and my 280mm AIO cooler. Can anybody recommend a good case for x299 and a 280mm AIO mounted on the top? Don't need RGB anything, need good thermals, good airflow.
  5. I am getting an elgato 4k pro capture card for my second pc so it can be my streaming pc (tr 1950x, 32 gigs ram, gtx 1050, etc) for my gaming computer (8700k, rtx 2080, 16 gigs ram) where i'll be playing PC Games. I've heard a lot about screen tearing being a real issue even with capture cards and something about the monitors needing to be the same? Do they have to be the exact same refresh rate / resolution? IE I need both the gaming monitor and streaming pc where the capture card is to be a 240hz 1080p if one is? Trying to be as tearless as possible and heard there is some kind of issue with the monitors.
  6. Can you wait another 10 months? 10 months isn't long enough. He should wait at least another 4 years before deciding. Heck why do any upgrades at all? Cause every 10 months theres something better right? Silly muggles not wanting to wait an entire year to upgrade.
  7. The 9820x is available for sale and not yet a single review of it or benchmark. I'm confused. This is my current build. With the equivalent 7900x albiet a year older....so my question is how do we know if the 9820x is better when theres no reviews out....I don't know if I should even get it. It's very weird as the new 9820x is cheaper on newegg then the 7900x lol. 8. I was planning on getting a 2950x for my christmas build....but I've done a ton of research into the x399 motherboard and there's still a lot of problems with them. Even the latest motherboards created for the refresh 2xxx series DO NOT COME with the updated BIOS for the 2xxx CPU's so you literally can't even boot up until you flash the bios. I'm really sketched out by AMD and quite honestly appealed they are selling a $600 motherboard (meg creation) that I have to flash the bios just to use a cpu the motherboard was designed for! This is simply unacceptable. None of the reviewers are being honest in their builds or tests regarding the 2xxx series motbos and never mention that you have to flash the bios in order to use it! It's sad to see that these reviewers have sold out to AMD. There's many problems with the x399 motherboards from what I've read and people I've talked too and threadripper needs a lot more time to mature before I could feel comfortable using it. Which is unfortunate as I really wanted to get the 2950x. I will be buying the i9-7900x instead because we know which motherboards work the best and what if any problems there are with the mobos and/or CPU. I feel that 2xxx series and their mobos have shown that amd still has a lot of issues and the hype is not real.

  10. Totally agree with you. I get this BS everytime I talk about my planned build I'll be making for christmas, which is either a 2950x or a i9-7900x. I'm going to go ahead and get the 7900x unless I can figure out my own motherboard situation, the reviewers have been very dishonest with the new refresh of the 2xxx series mobos. They have tons of problems. But everybody I talk too is using 7 year old cpu's and wants to talk me down from getting a high end cpu....and im like? I have the money it's not a concern I want the best. Don't listen to somebody whose never owned the highest end of the highest end hardware they will always tell you you don't need that, inside they are just jealous.
  11. I'm getting a 2950x more then likely unless somebody can convince me to opt for the 7920x. I'm just really irritated that they are launching the x499 motherboard q1 of next year.....instead of releasing them alongside the new 2xxx refresh.
  12. Unfortunately I can't, I need a new workstation computer and I'm on a deadline. I'll just have to wait to upgrade later.
  13. What board would you recommend getting besides the MEG for the 2950x? What's the closet runner up or competitor?
  14. Aye, a friend of mine who has a 2950x and the MSI MEG Creation suggested doing just that. But seeing as how the x499 boards will be launching next year and I am going to buy the 2950x I will settle for a $400 motherboard or something right around there. That MEG really does look great tho.
  15. 9-10 months. That is good news. Yes, 2950x is good for my workload. Better then the 7900x and really any cpu's from Intel. Unless I want to spend 2k ....and even then that 2k Intel cpu is not even better or marginally better in most tests.
