  1. Yep, first thing I checked when I got it working
  2. I've built and troubleshooted many PCs but this one's got me stumped. PC is a budget $500 i3 12100F, Asrock H610M-HVS, 2X4GB 3200mhz CL16, EVGA 550BP, RX6500XT. I boot it up - no display. Fans spin, PC stays on for about 2 minutes, turns off and back on by itself. Infinite loop. I do all the normal troubleshooting -- reseat stuff, diff RAM, use diff RAM slots, etc. I almost give up but luckily, I remembered I had a 12700K lying around which I've been meaning to sell. I replace the 12100F with the 12700K and viola, the computer up and running, no issues. I am totally stumped -- I guess it's safe to assume I received a faulty i3 12100f?
  3. So long story short, my new PC using an a520 board wouldn't post. I swapped out the RAM I was using (2x4 Patriot Viper 4 Blackouts 3000mhz) for a 1x8gb stick of RAM (Team T-Force Delta 3200mhz). It finally worked. I wanted to look deeper into this out of curiosity, so I pulled up the RAM compatibility page for my a520 board. Here's the link: https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_a520m-aorus-elite_matisse_200918.pdf Not one single set of ram on that list is 4gb, so I am curious -- Were both sticks of RAM I bought faulty or are a520s just not compatible? Also, I did install the RAM correctly and tried installing them in every possible configuration. I triple checked everything and have built many PCs before. Thanks, Ryan.
  4. So I am trying to make a super-budget MATX PC, but I don't want to end up getting a cruddy mobo. I don't plan on doing any overclocking, just 1080p gaming with probably an rx570 or a 1650 super. What are you guys' thoughts on the ASRock B550M-HDV Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard? ( https://pcpartpicker.com/product/LKLwrH/asrock-b550m-hdv-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-b550m-hdv ) it's the cheapest b550 MATX I can find that will be compatible with my Ryzen 3100 Thanks
  5. So I got a new Ryzen 3600 recently, and I use the stock cooler with the stock paste. When playing Battlefield 1, it stays in the 81-82 degree C range with very rare jumps to 91C. I have an RX 580, by the way if that matters. I do plan on getting a new cooler, but for now are these safe temperatures, or should I be worried? Thanks
  6. I ran the setup.exe from the Windows 10 download from Microsoft's website and selected the option where it installs windows 10 but doesn't remove any files
  7. So I recently completely upgraded my build, new mobo, cpu, and RAM, and switched from Intel to Ryzen. I installed all the proper drivers, etc. The only problem I am currently encountering is when I go to install something from MSI, like Mystic Light 3, or MSI Dragon Center, the install wizard works just fine, the progress bar completes, then it just disappears and the app doesnt install. The PC is working just fine aside from that. I am not sure if there are any additional steps I should take since this is a big change, what should I do? Thanks.
  8. Alright, sounds good. Worst comes to worst, I'll just wipe my drive and go from scratch. Appreciate the help
  9. So I am switching from a 7th gen i5 to a 3rd gen Ryzen processor (new motherboard, new set of RAM, and obviously new CPU) I plan on keeping all of my old storage devices, so it'll obviously still hold all of the old drivers for my Intel CPU and other things. Will this be problematic, or will it just boot normally and I can just install the new AMD drivers and remove the old Intel ones? Thanks
  10. With the b450s, won't I have to update the BIOS?
  11. I am currently searching for a motherboard for a Ryzen 3600 build. I don't want to overspend, but also fear underspending and ending up with a motherboard with little capabilities. I also don't want to worry about or have to deal with any BIOS updating, as I don't have any other Ryzen chips. What would be the best motherboards for (if possible) under $140 ish dollars for this setup? thanks
