You ever go to a family reunion or a wedding and they have tables for the adults? This isn't those tables. This is the table where the big kids have to babysit the little kids and try to stop tofu from eating dirt.

That's fine, because for those users its about donating to a cause and not about how fast it's done, how efficiently or how much total is donated. They just run it on their system and sleep soundly knowing they're helping and that's okay.

Then there are users like on the fourms, who use the points as bragging rights between other teams in a race to see who can outpoint who. It's no different than any sport that donates winnings to charity. We spend our actual money on GPU's and systems just to do nothing with them but donate them In The Name Of Science.

Kinda feels like you're just looking for a bone to pick a this point. More points are awarded for WU's that are completed faster, and as time and projects have increased, so have the corresponding point awards for each WU completed. Thats why one user had 2 billion points, yet nearly the same amount of WU's as Gorgon, because the WU's he completed werent completed as fast and didnt have as high of a value (each project has it's own point value associated with it, so some WU's have higher PPD's than others).

    Hello everyone !

So today a colleague brought me some PC parts that I previously selected with the help of some people ( @Herman Mcpootis @TofuHaroto and @BillNyeThecommieSpy) for her son.

So here is the build :

    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Motherboard: MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX mATX
    Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16
Storage: Western Digital Blue 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 4 TB 3.5" 5400RPM (an old drive that I wasn't using anymore)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6 GB OC
Case: Fractal Design Focus G Mini MicroATX
Power Supply: Cooler Master MWE Bronze V2 550 W 80+ Bronze

Building it was straightforward, it took me about 1h to assemble, 30 minutes to install everything and 30 more minutes to shove it in the case . Then I booted it to see if everything was working properly, installed more drivers and did some benchmarks. Do note that it took me about 7 minutes (and I was taking my time) to install the CPU cooler, someone that should not be named (@TofuHaroto  ) took like 2h to do it ?

The rams are working at XMP and the CPU is boosting properly to 4.2GHz. I didn't overclocked anything as I'm a big noob and don't really know how to properly overclocked an AMD CPU. It's for a 14 years old kid so the difference will be minimum to him.

Here are some pictures of the build in progress :

    Cute little motherboard.

Testing if everything works properly before installing it in the case :

    Quite the anarchy there

    And the completed build :

The cable management was really not fun to do and not very good to be honest.

    And finally some benchmarks :

For comparison, https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/amd-ryzen-5-3600-review,10.html so I think it did pretty well here ! Average temp was 60°C during it with a peak at 90°C.

For reference : https://benchmark.unigine.com/leaderboards/superposition/1.x/1080p-medium/single-gpu/page-1 not great not terrible.

Unless the computer is critical to work, school, etc than I would argue that you never need it “now”. Even then you can afford to take half an hour to research because if a system is “mission critical” than you should really be making sure everything you put in it will work well.

Hey there. The NYK K-01 Legion uses rubber dome switches. Unfortunately, unlike mechanical switches, there isn't a standard slider design or keycap mount for rubber domes, so finding compatible keycaps for your particular board would be pretty difficult. If (emphasis on the uncertainty of "if") your board uses Topre rubber domes, however, some vendors do sell Topre-slider keycaps.
Topre Keycaps from KBDfans. Topre Keycaps from KPrepublic. Would like to reiterate that there isn't an industry standard for rubber dome keycaps, and the NYK K-01 Legion's product site doesn't specify what kind of rubber domes they're using. Best to double-check your board for compatibility. I believe your keyboard comes with a keycap puller (along with 8 bonus keycaps?). Should be simple enough to remove one keycap to see the slider design underneath, or to check the keycap stem of one of the bonus keycaps.

Is this real? If so, don’t just go from short price by highest. Those components are many years old and very overpriced. I doubt this is real, but if it is, wait until new parts are released (a few weeks for Nvidia GPUs and a few months for CPUs and amd GPUs).

I might be buying an E5 2620 v3 + generic X99 board + 16GB RAM combo next month. I plan to bios mod it and maybe use it in my main PC at some point.
If I do, I'll post some pictures of it here.

Or you could just.. get any other mouse with that amount of programmable buttons and do almost the exact same thing. Maybe even without looking like a Happy Meal toy (but looks are obviously subjective so don't flame)

I don't get the deep click pressure button thingy mumbo jumbo, especially since they're marketing this towards competitive FPS gamers by the looks of things. You don't have time to think whether to click lightly or hard or whatever when you're fragging kids in Call of Duty. You just don't. It really looks like a useless gimmick to me.

I would take the waterblock off and remount it, its possible its not quite flat. Besides that, make sure the pump is running. If the pump is not running, thats 100% the problem, and if the liquid in the loop started to boil its possible the pump has been damage, if so itll likely sound a little weird... Those are the two places to start.

Certainly sounds like a monopoly, but one induced by the high schools/states. For public institutions this is normally resolved through having public tenders, the issue is that here the public institution actually isn't the consumer, the student is. You could draw parallels with software packages for certain courses (Matlab, Stata, ...) or even textbooks used in certain courses, although there it seems that either (i) we all pretty much accepted the monopoly, (ii) bought second handed, (iii) got a student licence, or (iv) cheated the system by getting unlimited free trial by pretending to be a "new" customer.

    I got a new phone.
Samsung Note 9 N960F in copper, with the Exynos chip and 512gb of space.
I wanted something that was nicer than my Nokia 8.1, which was looking a bit tired after a year or so of use. Though, I was still 100% satisfied with the speed of the SD710 inside that phone.
It's my first Samsung since I had an S3 back when that was a new phone, and I'd say the Samsung UI has come a long way since then. I think it's a toss-up between the stock android on the Nokia and the skin on the note. Both have strong and weak points, I can't decide which I prefer.

Since it was £360 (new obv.), I guess it's a midrange phone now. Well, it's the best mid-range phone by quite a margin. The only thing this phone doesn't have is a high-refresh screen, and only a few mid-rangers have that.
