  1. You might be able to save some money on the PSU and the cooler. The PSU does give you a lot of room to upgrade but I don't know if you need all 1000 watts. Same for the cooler.
  2. Thanks for the help @johnt. It was a blender issue rather than a build issue. Uninstalling and reinstalling fixed it.
  3. Thanks, I think I'm also running into an issue where cycles isn't using the GPU. That may be part of my problem.
  4. I have built my first computer and now I'm not sure my cooling is sufficient. I have a i9 13900k with a Noctua ND-D15 cooling it. It runs fine when I'm gaming, or at least I haven't noticed any issues. But when I render something in blender, even in Cycles on my GPU the temp on my CPU rockets up to 99 and stays there and throttles the performance down to 4.5 GHz. Is this just the price I pay for not wanting a AiO cooler or have I applied the paste wrong/ not tightened down the cooler enough?
  5. The connection in the left bud of my Sennheiser Momentum 2.0's is beginning to go. They have served dutifully for 3 years of me kicking the absolute crap out of them, using them at least 6 and up to 10 hours a day with minimal re-charging. Are there any obvious winners in the space now? I shunned the buds last time around because their battery life wasn't enough and I was afraid I would loose them. What are people using? I do need for them to be in-ear as I use them in the office a lot and my boss frowns on over ear ones for some reason.
  6. I've already got an Elegoo Mars for really detailed stuff. I'm thinking of swapping that out soon as well. Because I do need more volume on that one. Limits wise, speed, dimensional precision. It is mainly just the frustration factor though.
  7. I am beginning to lose patience with my Ender 3. Every 4-5 prints something goes wrong. I'm going to throw it from a tall building. Plus I'm reaching the upper limit of what it is actually capable of. Any suggestions for someone who's been printing as a hobbyist for over 5 years. In the £1-1.5k range? I don't need much if any more volume, but better speed and reliability would be great. Everyone seems to think the bambu labs one is amazing. Is that just hype?
  8. No worries. You must learn google-fu. It's also worth watching this really comprehensive guide from Linus: https://www.yutube.com/watch?v=BL4DCEp7blY&t You wont need all of it, but it's a good base for knowing which components are which and what power cables go where. I searched the model in the ebay listing and came up with this. https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=100-N1-0550-L1 Under "connector quantity" it has a list of what it has. But it looks pretty good for a basic unit. Take pictures of the PC as is and plenty of notes. ie: what cable is plugged into my motherboard/hard drives/gpu. And replace like for like.
  9. Looks fine, yeah. Double check its got enough pins to power everything in your pc + the 8 pin for the new gpu
  10. Something from one of the big brands, it's not worth mucking around on the PSU front. EVGA from the top of my head has a couple of good budget options.
  11. Ah, but does it look cooler?
  12. Double check the seller isn't shifting a lot of GPU's at once because their ETH mine failed.
  13. I don't have a Facebook to check that with. But in general, facebook marketplace can be problematic. Ebay has better purchaser protections.
  14. That should be fine for running most games at 1080p 144hz. My main concern is that Power supply. It might be worth saving up another $70 to put a 550 -650w in there. Just for the extra headroom
  15. See if you can get a hold of a ZOTAC 1660 second hand. That should just about fit with your current power supply.
  16. Okay, as I say this is early days. I know I need a Freenas machine to replace my old synology one and if I can afford it I would like something I can kick my Blender renders to. But I'm not sure I'll go away and spec something out and come back later.
  17. Are you plugged into the GPU not the mother board? F series CPU's don't have an integrated GPU .
  18. Do you have a Samsung phone? It's not a deal breaker but if you are teetering either way they do have some cool and useful integrations.
  19. I am thinking of buying a small rack, 6-8U, to mount a server/nas maybe rackmount my next pc as a project. The problem is it would have to be in my bedroom for various reasons. Is there a way of keeping it quiet and cool? I don't mind some fan noise. I sleep with fan on most nights anyway, but ideally I don't want to boil myself or drive myself crazy. Thanks for any help.
  20. The build quality of Ender's is fine. You just end up tinkering with them over time to fix kinks. Mine now has: Adjustable belt tensioners Glass Bed Direct Drive Extrusion BLTouch Levelling An Octopi A new quieter board. Upgraded Part cooling It was still putting out good prints during and inbetween each upgrade. Especially if you're trying to learn the intricacies of 3d printing these are good projects to learn while doing.
  21. I know they get a well deserved bashing around here. But for truly plug and play, and if you only want to do file storage, synology are probably the go to. My current one does well, although after getting familiar with it (and filling it), I now realise the limitations, especially as a plex machine. I'm scraping together the cash to build myself something custom and then I'll probably use TrueNAS.
  22. Ah! I totally forgot about WAGO. I think I even have a bag of them around. I don't know why but I got this into my head that it needed to be a perfboard project. Thanks for the help guys.
