Depends on the WiFi-card and the WiFi-stick and what sorts of antennas they got. There is no universal answer. There are laptops with shitty cards, there are laptops with shitty antennas, there are laptops with shitty both and there are laptops with neither of them being shitty, and the same goes for the USB WiFi-sticks.

You will have to break the "Warranty Void if Removed" Sticker to open up the laptop to switch the SSD.
Honestly, I would just do it myself. If you have a little experience in Hardware it will be no problem. Bringing it to Acer would be a waste of money (in my Opinion)

On my Asus Strix 1070ti, the fans aren't kicking in until 55°C.
So that value is totally normal for factory curve.

I only ask depending on brand. As if it was an evga, was it registered and if so how much of the warranty is left.

Then if they ever swapped the cooler or thermal paste.

Aside from that nothing really matters. They tend to mention if they smoke or have animals. Use is use so get it if it’s a deal and you need it.

Id be more concerned about buying a used mobo than a gpu. I’ve bought used everything almost so it doesn’t really matter. If the seller is dedicated, they will show you it working or meet at their house so you can always come back?

This just makes no sense. Half of the graphics cards I've owned are used, they're excellent. Getting a lame card is really unlikely. While you're right about dummy answers, a used graphics card is about the same as a new, minus all the crap in the box.

    Greetings forum!

I just had a weird idea, and since i love people explaining why it would not work, i thought about posting it here since a lot of people here now infinitely more about technology than i do.

So, the new RTX GPUs are pretty nice, but, at least in Battlefield 5, they suffer serious performance hits. But this time it is not like other nVidia technology like hairworks or PhysX, where nVidia designed the tech themselfs, made driver optimisations and then helped game devs make their games look nice on nVidia GPUs while AMD did not have any response since the tech was non open source. This time with RTX, it is a feature of DirectX, so AMD can, theoretically have ray tracing functionality on their GPUs. Sure it would run like sh*t but it would in theory work. but then it struck me. most consumer CPUs have low-power iGPUs. So i wonder, would it be possible to have something like a Ryzen 5 2400G in your system, dedicated to RTX, and then your main GPU, lets say a Vega 64, dedicated to regular rasturisation? Could someone explain to me if this does not work, or if it would work in theory, beacuse i am looking for some kind of dev project (just something to thinker with) and this sounds fun.

It should work okay, however I wouldn't expect the highest framerates due to the slower per core clocks the Xeon has.
Also make sure the Powersupply is good enough and the system supports Pci 3.0.

Everyone on the forum knows it's jsut a waste.
Of course there will always be people that will still buy it, that doesn't mean that someone with a brain that can do logical thinking should do the same.

Either buy a larger SSD, or buy a faster hard drive. There is no reason to use optane cache.
If there's a special reason for needing a small amount of super fast cache for a certain program, there is free software to create ramdisks.

The standalone optane SSDs are a different matter, but that's not what we're discussing here.

That's a ballsy move, running a 7700K on a board without ANY VRM cooling at all....

Monitor your CPU and GPU usage and clock speeds closely during benchmarks. When you see a big CPU usage or clock speed drop, you're facing VRM throttling.

Alexokratis reacted to Radium_Angel in New build stuck in bootloop
All the heat means is the CPU is getting power. Neither the Rev 1 or the Rev 2 of this board specifically state support for that model Xeon. Maybe this is an issue, maybe not, but before you chuck the board as bad, there are two options here you can try:

Remove all ram, power it up. The board should beep at you. If it doesn't then the board is bad. If it does, then it's trying to POST (a good sign) and can't find RAM to work with, so it throws an error code (the beeping)

If it beeps at you, go buy a cheap CPU that's on the supported list, and try that. Also, update your BIOS if it posts.

Alexokratis reacted to SupersonicSaint in Any point in a second pc?
You can use it to play games from Steam using the power of your main powerful PC wirelessly. If you make a cheap Micro ATX PC, you have essentially made another console.

It can be a guest PC also, you can use it to run Linux or private tasks, stream consoles, Cryptocurrency mining, you may split one for work using an AMD CPU and one for gaming using an Intel CPU, you can use it to contribute to AI by running automatic calculations, you can simply use it in another room such as 1 in the study and one in your room.

If you live in 2 locations it can be beneficial as you can leave one in each location, you may use it to install sketchy software to test before safely transferring to your main PC. There are plenty more applications you can use it for.

To me it looks like you have some kind of adapter attached to the Cable... Please try to pull that one off and you will see a slightly smaller Connector with a little Nose.

This one will fit without any problems, just try not to force it in, since the Pins inside the Connector break very easily.
