  1. Maybe EVGA will release a traditional "box-like" 2080 Ti card but I agree the current one is ugly af... Tbh none of the current 2080 Ti is anywhere near th beauty of look of the FE one...
  2. Yeah if you say so then maybe I should just return it and wait for a quality 3-rd party card for smaller chance getting a bad one... Went FE card for a minimalist itx build but sigh...
  3. Hi folks, just got my 2080 Ti FE from nvidia and after replacing my 1080 Ti I noticed it had terrible coil whine, both the mechanical buzzing sound and high frequency squeal. Replaced the PSU with another working EVGA G2 1000W pulled from my another PC and issue remained. However to my curiosity I tried to move the PSU outside my computer case to try to isolate the issue and me and my friend both 100% confirm that BOTH the psu and gpu were making the same coil whine **at the same time** by putting ears on components.... Btw my PSU was used to run a 1080 Ti and the system was dead silent. I am not stranger to coil whine although none of my GPUs had been this loud. But my question is if PSU and GPU whine at the same time, would it be caused by GPU alone or replacing it with maybe one more GPU can possible resolve the issue... Or else I would probably just return this card to nvidia.... Thanks :(
  4. Yeah it seems to be the most sensible option for me, or maybe to simply choose a case with good top vent instead. I wish my 1700X came with a wraith max... Thanks for the suggestion! I will see if I can grab an old one from ebay or something similar.
  5. Thanks JDE. I just noticed that ASUS has a mother board supporting using old AM3+ cooler with AM4 CPU. Too bad it is well beyond my budget and also I have already bought the MSI X370 carbon. I should have done homework more thoroughly. It looks like MasterAir line all require the upgrade kit for AM4 and they may end up in the same orientation as EVO 212
  6. Hi, thanks for reading. I recently started a build of Ryzen's 1700x cpu and X370 motherboard. However I am kinda stuck with air cooling solutions: as you can see from the attached picture, the stock retention system of X370 (both MSI and ASUS) are over/under configuration. Most common air coolers on the market at this moment use a special bracket to mount their heatsink, which will inevitably cause a "vertical" orientation of the heatsink/fan. So it either blows air upward or downward. I am kinda curious about this configuration since it is not the most common layout and to make the system work efficiently one seems to have to open the top vent on most of the cases and install additional fan over to pull air out... Is this so far the only option for air cooling of AM4? I am wondering if I should consider a case with good top ventilation or just wait for new model of major air coolers to come to market. Thanks.
