  1. thanks for the input guys I think I'm going to give avast a try
  2. does it cost money? also will that be a sufficient program by itself?
  3. hey guys I just built my first pc and got windows installed before I left work tonight and was wondering what antivirus software to use. in the past I've always used Norton and its treated me well but I hear it its not that good. I don't want to bog down my fresh new system so recommendations for minim software would be nice thanks in advance
  4. hey guys I'm about to finish up my first ever pc build and in the past I've always used I tunes for all my music, I use apple phones so it convenient for uploading music but with recent updates I don't like the interface as much as I used to. what are some recommendations for other media apps to store and listen to music? any suggestions are appreciated. I've used Spotify in the past but don't want a paid subscription either. just somewhere to buy albums and tracks digitally and store copies of my physical media too.
  5. ok thank you, I just didn't want all the air going next to the aio and not cooling my cpu lmao
  6. hi all, I have question regarding my case and cooling setup. I have a lian li pc07s, It has space for a 360 rad in the top and while I plan to do a custom loop with a rad that big eventually I plan on starting with a 24 aio cooler, will I need to block off the extra 120 mm's of space in order to run the aio? its seems to me the airflow would go out the open space since that is the path of least resistance?
  7. hi guys I need help picking a motherboard I'm trying to build my first system and don't know much about motherboards specifically they're pretty much the only component that has confused me so far. i also don't want a bunch of features i don't need like dvi.I need 2280m.2 slots, lan and wifi on board hdmi usb 2.0,3.0,3.1a and maybe type c ddr4 and audio in and out for mics/speakers. any helpful insight or information to help me buy not way to much or not enough of a motherboard is appreciated. these are the two boards i have picked out https://www.amazon.com/ROG-Maximus-IX-LGA1151-Motherboard/dp/B01NBHXSP6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490347725&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+maximus+ix+hero https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Z270-SLI-Motherboard-PLUS/dp/B01MR32I8L/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1490347430&sr=1-1&keywords=msi+z270
  8. In regards to the ram I think the small upcharge for good looking ram and what imagine will be future proof for a while I don't see any major advancements in ram happening do you think it's that much overkill?
  9. do i just copy the pc parts picker link? and also two coolers because i don't know which i'm going with yet so i just left them both in.
  10. i actually noticed that and edited after down to 750 watt(probably still overkill)
  11. hello all, i've been a console gamer for a long time and have always loved the aesthetics of pc and massive performance possibilities.fairly recently i decided it was time to make the switch. massive research ensued hours and hours of video watching and parts browsing and i think i've got a good outline for the pc i want to build and i would like opinions and pointers if at all possible. i aim to make this a gaming machine (with a music library as big as i can grow as well) leaning towards 4k so i'm not as concerned with crazy frame rates(although fps is a nice bonus) and i want have room for upgradeability (light overclocking and sli?) for once i get my feet wet in the pc gaming world and become more comfortable with my capabilities and knowledge.the parts list i have seems a bit excessive but aesthetics are also important to me as i'm trying to make a work of art as much as a computer. i have logitech keyboard and mouse, cheap skullcandy headset, windows OS,and wired internet connection.noise isn't a huge factor,i'm not sure how hot this build will run but fan noise doesn't really bother me(so long as it doesn't sound like a helicopter) the case is the only part i've ordered but i've checked all the major components vs the case specs and they should all fit i'm using a lian li pc-07sx (go ahead and roast me for spending way to much but this case is a straight up work of art also i got 30% list price) the cost i'm estimating total around 2k as is but i hope to build the pc over several months and hunt for good deals on parts such as drives and things.let me know what you guys think, to overkill?any big mistakes made? or did my research reward me? here's the list:https://pcpartpicker.com/user/MK4DAN/saved/Ptx23C Buy Buy Buy Buy Buy Buy Buy Buy
