  1. Already upped the mouse and keyboard polling rates, that was pretty simple
  2. So I want to increase the FPS on my webcam, pretty much out of idle curiosity to see if I can. The best chance that I seem to have is by using this Python code but I can't figure out how to install the imutils library. In the documentation it just says to run $ pip install imutils which just gives me a syntax error. Right now all of my programs are in the same folder. I'm currently using the IDLE GUI, it doesn't seem to have a way to install a library like what I remember from Eclipse (when I did coding like 5 years ago). I'm guessing I'm just a total idiot since I've never used Python before and this is super easy. fps_demo.py
  3. Most likely it's thermal throttling. Get Hardware Info and find out how hot the processor is getting, if it's above 90C that's your problem.
  4. My personal favorite is the Vertagear SL4000 but it only works well if you have a very slim chair. Also the Maxnomic Office Comfort is really sick - gotta love adjustable lumbar support.
  5. I wouldn't, thermal pads are generally a lot thicker so you might not get proper contact. Probably not, we have heaps of thermal paste which isn't conductive and you really need to screw up the application to have a measurable difference in temperature. Yup
  6. Most nail polishes will actually work fine, look for one that is acrylic based and it should be good. For the video I just used the conformal coating because it is the safest bet, especially when someone else might try and replicate what I'm doing. It looks like the heatsink should be fine, that's all cooper there. If you're ever unsure though just go with a high performance thermal paste like Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, you'll still have a big improvement in thermals but not have to worry about liquid metal destroying things.
  7. The Thinkpad X1 Carbon 6th Gen is the suit of laptops, but is it still good when the tie comes off? Buy Thinkpad X1 Carbon: On Amazon: http://geni.us/yinG On Newegg: http://geni.us/D2fV
  8. I think the bandwidth is tied together but it's something in the drivers that break it. For Nvidia the chipset won't allow SLI, even if you have a big ass SLI bridge between the two
  9. The driver software just started freaking out, so one would show up for a second, then unload, and then the other would show up, and so on. With Nvidia GPUs you can get two hooked up at the same time pretty easily but SLI explicitly won't work.
  10. Have you used one for an extended period of time? I didn't think I'd want one until I used a touch screen laptop for a while and now I can't go back. Also Lenovo offers matte finish touch screens.
  11. That was the first try actually, the whole A-Roll was pretty much one take, aside from one little part around the middle where he broke out laughing. Normally there are some mistakes that need to get covered up in editing but this one went super smooth.
  12. Depends on your budget, but I'd probably go for the LG Gram with an i5 and touch screen.
  13. On paper the Dell XPS 13 has all the ingredients to be the best thin and light laptop on the market, but does this hold up in real life? Buy Dell XPS 13 9370 On Amazon: http://geni.us/dJh8A On Newegg: http://geni.us/jIrA Buy Cake On Amazon: http://geni.us/WB7QQ2g
  14. My first de-lid was on an i9-7980XE, talk about butt clenching. So do as I say, not as I do haha
  15. This won't be easy. Chances are you'll need to cut a hole for the radiator to breath out of, and placing everything inside could be difficult. Could you possibly post a picture of the inside of the case so we can get a better idea of the challenge? Some of these old HP cases will have a totally proprietary so a lot of modding might be needed to get it sleepified.
  16. In recent history with one from a reputable brand, no. And to someone I actually know in real life, never. I have heard of pumps dying in quite a few after 3ish years of use though.
  17. The slot in the MSI is both a SATA and PCIe M.2 slot so it should have worked fine with the BEAST.
  18. Overkill is in the eye of the beholder, some would say getting an 8700K period is overkill so its whatever you feel like/can afford With the right tools the risk is low but non-zero. If you decide to go this route I recommend getting a cheap processor, like a 3rd gen i3 or something like that (that's the first gen that used paste instead of solder) and practice there to get a feel for it. You'll need to do this if you want sub-60C under full load, but even if a processor is getting up to 90C under full load it's totally safe. Start by just seeing how far you can push it with stock paste and some decent cooling (probably over 5GHz easily), then get hooked on the drug that is overclocking - delidding and liquid metal will follow in due time haha
  19. I would recommend the Noctua NH-D15, that thing is a beast and is basically as good as it gets for air cooling. I'm not sure you'll need heaps of cooling to hit 4.7, but with how poor Intel TIM is you'll still want to throw quite a bit of cooling at it. I also haven't heard of a single instance of an AIO leaking, so an H100i or something like that could be used.
  20. Fans of the EXP GDC have been asking us to do a video on it for years. We hadn’t up until this point because the user experience was kind of terrible. It still is. Buy a Gigabyte Gaming Box On Amazon: http://geni.us/OHj0B On Newegg: http://geni.us/vqL2B
  21. Clean install of windows, make sure there aren't a bunch of startup applications, if it uses a hard drive get an SSD
  22. For something like this you'd need to use 3D Printed wax, then cast the block. Once cast you'd still need to CNC or manually mill out the surface for the IHS and threads for the fittings. As far as I know pure copper filament 3D printers don't exist, there are some direct metal laser melting (DMLM) 3D printers that do metal, but then you need a powder, laser printers are prohibitively expensive, and you'll still need a CNC milling process after to get the tolerances correct. Basically the current process by NudeCNC is about as cost effective as you can get, and I see nothing wrong with using acrylic in a block.
  23. Check out the Ncore by NudeCNC on Kickstarter: https://kck.st/2GHoE65 First you upgrade the Intel TIM, then you try out Liquid Metal - the next logical step on the quest for the lowest temps is to completely eliminate the IHS. Buy Liquid Metal On Amazon: http://geni.us/sKGWr On Newegg: http://geni.us/hS2Y
  24. Really the 7700K is still a beast, especially for gaming so I wouldn't recommend upgrading that. If I was in your situation I'd get a cheap streaming PC, like maybe a used haswell Dell, put a good capture card in it, and then upgrade the GPU in your main PC.
