  1. It is very random, no load spikes or any application crashes. Once it happened when I launched Photoshop, another time it was while running Chief Architect. Usually a whole ensemble of application consisting of Chief Architect, AutoCAD, Photoshop and Chrome with about 15 tabs is open all the time so I could not pin point it to any particular application.
  2. Sorry but doesn't look like a BSOD because there's nothing else except "Kernel-Power: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first." and the computer hard-resets everytime this happens
  3. Hi there, I am experiencing random shutdowns on my PC and I'm not sure what is causing them. When I check the event viewer logs, it says "Kernel-Power: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first.". Here is my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ThvQsL My PSU is an Antec G650. I don't think it's an issue with over-current protection because I've run both Furmark on 4k and CPU-Z CPU Stress together and the PC didn't shut down. I've also disabled AI-OC in the BIOS and set the GPU to 90% power in Afterburner. I should also mention that I purchased an UPS (APC Back-UPS Pro BR1500G-IN) after this problem started occurring. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Can anyone offer some advice or suggestions on how to troubleshoot this issue? Thanks in advance for any help!
  4. I just bought WD550 a couple of months ago and found out on the news and WAN show that it may be 50% slower than the rated speed. The product sticker says it was manufactured on 06 May 2021. I contacted the WD customer support about it and they told me to get back with the results from "The WD SSD Dashboard". My typical workload usually consists of programming (Data Science & ML), photoshop, and gaming. I consider myself to be power user. Should I worry about the performance of the SSD ? P.S. - I do not currently have a PC to test it out, may need to borrow one from someone.
  5. God I feel stupid. Thank you so much.
  6. I am facing a problem in Enabling the ReSizable Bar on the computer. When I enable ReSizable Bar in BIOS, I get an error something like "GPU does not support UEFI Drivers", and it enables CSM automatically. After searching a bit, I found out that CSM and ReSizable Bar cannot work together. But without CSM, I cannot boot my computer. Is there any way to solve this issue? I think booting in Legacy mode can help, but the BIOS does not have an explicit setting for doing that. I cannot also reinstall windows as I work on this computer and it will take a lot of time to set up everything. I am running "MSI Armor Radeon RX580 8G OC" GPU and "Ryzen 3400 G" CPU on the "Asus B450M-A" Motherboard. My Windows, BIOS and Drivers are all up to date.
  7. That sound good. I have an empty 3.5' HDD on the Desktop, I can use it to clone the Desktop Boot-drive, then put it on my laptop and clone the SSD back! Will have to create an external boot drive to hold windows though IDK how I can handle that as well. Is there any tool to clone drives on Linux, so that I can install an Ubuntu instance on a pen drive.
  8. I know, but I have no way to connect both the drives to a single machine!
  9. Can you check whether it's the GPU ? Maybe try the onboard port?
  10. I am trying to swap my laptop's SSD (512 GB) with my Desktop's SSD (120 GB) so that I can have more storage on my Desktop's boot drive. But I don't want to install all the desktop applications again. (Loosing all the data from Laptop's SSD is fine with me) Now it could have been easy if either of my machines had 2 M.2 slots, but they don't :( What can I do? Can I just recreate partitions manually and copy data using an external drive?
  11. I really wish I had someone like Louis Rossman near me. But the only place I can find a reliable person is 2000km away from me, in Bangalore. India lacks such repair services in general.
  12. I own a Predator Helios 300 (G3-572). I had a broken key on the laptop and wanted to fix it. I found out that the only official way to fix it is to replace the whole palm rest with the keyboard. I saved for 1yr to replace that as I'm a Computer Science Student and I often carry my laptop around for programming and other works and carrying an external keyboard along is not possible. While replacing the keyboard, I noticed a giant black spot near the GPU on the underside of the MoBo. Most probably a blown capacitor busting the power line to the GPU. When I talked to my local Acer Care, they said I'll have to buy a new motherboard costing me around 650$ (or 50,000 INR), which is almost the price I paid for the whole laptop (Got it in a big sale ~50% off) since it is out of warranty by now. I tried to tweet about it to Acer, they never replied to me after taking the Product ID. Now, I have random BSODs and crashes all the time. If I try to play any games, I get peak frame times of 400-500ms every 10-15 secs. I am also trying to learn Machine Learning and GPU acceleration is out of the question for me as it always crashes. I barely have 20$ with me and I have no income source. I don't know what to do about the situation as most probably, I won't be able to buy a new machine either for a couple of years at least. I'm just posting this in case someone knows someone in Acer or works there can help me find a way to get it fixed, as cap blowing is a manufacturing/ design flaw. The laptop still works fine, it's just that BSODs and crashes made me lose a lot of work and I'm no longer able to play any games which I like, except Among us. P.S. - The laptop has another built quality issue, where the screw bolts on the backplate of LCD broke of internally and in-turn made the hinge to break as well. Currently, I cannot even open/ close my laptop and have to keep it still on a laptop stand. Also, sorry for bad English, not a native speaker. DON'T BUY ACER!
  13. I currently own a Predator Helios 300 (G3-572) and want to upgrade my primary SSD storage which I use as Windows installation (128GB) as I do a lot of programming, machine learning and gaming. Installing programs such as MATLAB on HDD makes it very slow to work on. According to this link, the M.2 slot supports Serial ATA/600 which as far as I remember, doesn't support NVMe drives. I need recommendations for 512GB/1TB drives in replacement of my current drive (KINGSTON RBUSNS8180DS3128GH).
  14. Should I OC my Predator Helios 300 laptop with 7700HQ and 1050Ti??
I have replaced thermal compound with MX4
