  1. I have a third party wired controller, and my computer doesn't go to sleep if it is plugged in for some reason.
  2. Last night I binge watched the new "Jack Ryan" Amazon prime original show. (Totally worth only getting 3 hours of sleep last night.) But I saw a thumbnail of Linus, and just thought that he looks like a smaller, skinnier, lighter haired version of John Krasinski ( Jim from The Office)(Jack Ryan in Jack Ryan ) The noses are slightly different, and Linus has darker color eyes than Krasinski. Their eyebrows are somewhat similar, and Krasinski has a stronger jaw line.
  3. I hate "in-ear earbuds." I don't like the the ones that latch onto the outside of your ear either. I really like the apple "earpods" ( the wired ones that come standard with a normal headphone jack ) but, this is the only apple product I purchase anymore. As I break my earbuds a lot, I am looking for a better value earbud that isn't "in-ear." I can't stand the sound isolation, or the general discomfort they come with. ( if you are replying to try to convince me to use those, don't. please. ) basically looking for earbud style headset for phone calls / decent audio for general music and podcast listening on the go. Any suggestions? my other audio gear for context: - ATH-m50x headphones for when I (sort of) care about audio quality and don't mind carrying them. - Sennheiser Game One headset that is tied to my desk for gaming.
  4. "We are taking apart the old Iphone to replace the battery and accidentally pulled out a ribbon cable for the home button, can you walk us through how to fix this" -my sister who lives 2 hours away to me, who has never opened up an iphone. [ I offered to do it for them, because I have the tools already(pro tech toolkit, have taken apart my old gameboy and a few laptops) and I am confident that I wouldn't brick the device, although I am no professional.] I basically was like "it is probably ok, just don't freak out, there is probably some way to reconnect it if you didn't actually break anything else. And it was fine as far as I know. bigger issue was that I was with a friend at the time, meaning I was busy on the phone hand holding instead of having fun.
  5. I have this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B2HH7G0/?tag=pcpapi-20 It looks like there are monitors from reputable brands that go down to around $190 my monitor was around $260 This one is the cheapest one from a trust-able brand on PC part picker: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/PmyFf7/acer-monitor-umfg6aab01 It also happens to be the cheapest one on PC part picker.... but prices vary, and I would say the cheapest without sale you can find them is around $250 as far as I know.
  6. What is wrong with them? I genuinely want to know. I am thinking about buying one down the line, mostly because I want the aluminum body, but apples leave a sour taste in my mouth.
  7. Thunderfoot is an ass, but Linus addressed this in WAN nicely, about how hyperloop is a competition, not something that is being built right now. I enjoyed Thunderfoot's video on solar roads, but ultimately his MO is crushing internet dreams. That is something I can't stand by. Like if someone has an idea, and it doesn't make sense or whatever, tell them politely and then give them suggestions on how to fix their ideas. Don't be mean about it.
  8. I have 3 laptops and 1 desktop... I use my desktop for as much as I can. (7700K, GTX1080, 500GB M.2 NVME SSD, 3TB Hard drive) I love having 2 monitors. Laptop 1 is a 17 inch lenovo z70-80 it is very outdated, but I use it for LAN parties and whenever I want to game outside of my house. (It has like a 2.4 Ghz dual core (i7) and like an 840M, 16 gb of ram.) With this laptop I have to choose between 1080P 30 fps and 720P 60 fps in Overwatch. (I usually go with 720) Laptop 2 is an Acer R 11 chromebook that I use around the house to watch videos Laptop 3 is an Acer Spin 1 with a quad core Pentium processor/ 64 GB of secondary storage, I use it mostly for studying and I carry it with me almost all the time. Basically I use one laptop when I am not at my desk but still in my house, I use one laptop for when I am gaming out of the house, I use one laptop for school, and my desktop is well, awesome for everything. Edit: Laptop 1 is almost 3 years old, laptop 2 is 2 years old, I built my desktop in may/june, and I bought Laptop 3 in like late July. I also have 3 other laptops that are broken... (A dell latitude circa 2000AD that has some power supply issue, a dell inspiron 1545 running windows 7 that I can't remember the password I set for it, and a Toshiba that has a broken monitor, broken headphone and microphone jacks, and 2/4 broken USB 2 ports)
  9. I think this falls under peripherals, not entirely sure. I did something dumb and I broke the Wifi Antenna on the back of my computer.... Does anyone know where I can buy some sort of replacement (I don't like this style anyway)
  10. Everyone seems to have focused on gaming because I mentioned the dell 7000. Gaming performance is NOT IMPORTANT. the presence of an SSD, and a touch screen are all I really need, I am just looking for the nicest chassis that delivers that. This is primarily a workstation/internet browsing device. Games are an afterthought.
  11. I would be nice if the laptop ran games better than my current laptop, but honestly, that isn't the point. having a touch screen ripped away from me has been the worst experience. I honestly want it to be lightweight, and useable for day to day things. I have a desktop in the works for gaming.
