Just play vanilla, FNV >>> Bethesda Fallout games.

On a way more serious note, I'd recommend the Someguy series of quest mods if you're looking for quest mods. Beware the vulgarity though. And while on the topic of modding, be sure to get Mod Organizer 2 as your...mod organizer.

Honestly, play New Vegas without any mods whatsoever. Obsidian managed to make a game that blows anything Bethesda can make out of the water. Deal with the dated look and you'll get a better experience than Todd Howard can imagine in his wildest dreams.

    Fellout NV is fine.

I tend to use Nevada Skies, adds weather effects and nights : Nevada Skies - Weather Effects at Fallout New Vegas - mods and community

I also like to add a companion mod, Willow : Willow - A Better Companion Experience at Fallout New Vegas - mods and community

May have to log in to see it, it seems to be marked as adult content.. but it's not.

It's just an extra companion you can have around, you can "recruit" her outside Primm. She has a few quests of her own you can choose to do, otherwise it doesn't affect the game story, doesn't stop you from recruiting companions as normal... it's just fun to have around as extra storage, hear her sing from time to time, give her small gifts like crayons and toy bears you pick in the game, breaks the monotony when you're moving between places.

I haven't really spent much time in Fallout NV and was thinking of playing it just a couple of days ago and started looking at some mods.

Fellout NV. Removes the awful yellow/brown tint from everything.
Install some texture packs to help with that dated feel. Probably start with NMC Texture pack and Fallout Character Overall as a base and go from there.

I ended up replaying Skyrim again instead of diving in to New Vegas so I haven't actually tried the mods yet, but those were the ones I was looking at. Other than that I usually install mods by just playing the game, getting annoyed by something, and then looking to see if there's a mod that fixes it.

Ya_Mi reacted to NekoBubbles in RE4 Remake Controller VS Mouse & Keyboard
A lot of video games are heavily dependent on the dev teams choice of interface kernels and drivers. That make up the commands for that game. In most common cases with remakes like RE4 they are often times do great with a remake graphically, and gameplay wise. But where the budget cuts come into play with a remake more often than not is the controls. If the devs failed or purposely slacked on assigning controls there are really two options then its ether go with the generic PC keyboard or port over the controller scheme if its Console > to PC.

A perfect example of this is are the OG Mass Effect trilogies initial PC port that the dev team went on factual comment in both news via gaming journalists and in their own forums that they flat out skipped porting over the gamepad/controller support. (The irony is that they actually treated it like a flex that they didn't get around to adding gampad support. Making the PC team look like it just an art team tossed a bunch of screws and paint with paint brushes. And told go port ME1-3) It got so bad that eventually EA pretty much said screw it and ported the games over AGAIN to PC, to be what we know as the legendary edition for Mass Effect.

Remakes and lazy console to PC ports make me wanna rip my hair out cause there are so many custom gamepad configs that I'd think its pretty lazy to not just do both kb&m and gamepad/controller. I get budget cuts but it seems like it would be something an intern could be tasked with over a weekend.

It's about 35% faster than the 1050 Ti.

That will depend more on how the games are optimized. You will still likely see a difference between them, but you might not see that much of a difference between them depending on how well optimized the game is.

The RX 6500 XT does have external power connectors though. The 6400 does trade blows with the 1650 and would theoretically make a decent alternative, but since you're gonna be dealing with the limited bandwidth of only 4 PCIe lanes at Gen 3 the 1650 will pull ahead.

Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a very nice game but it's a 2-3h complete walkthrough.
Long Dark was free on Epic a while ago, so maybe you or someone from your close friends already owns it. Am currently playing through this one myself (story mode) and I'd say it's a good game, but not really the 'journey' type.
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is apparently reeeally short as well.
As for the other ones I have no idea.

What do you think about adding Return of the Obra Dinn to the list of potential candidates?

keep track of your screws, go slowly and don't rip panels off if you don't know what's under them and how they're attached.

Be careful when using wet wipes to sanitize laptops. We've had instances where the bottom sheets were extra soaked as the liquid pools at the bottom of the container and it led to shorting a few keyboards. Now we're just using a vacuum to pickup the larger debris then following up with some rags/paper towels soaked with rubbing alcohol so even if we use too much, it'll dry out almost immediately.

As for disassembly, take photos so you can trace back how everything goes back together if you get lost. Get one of those magnetic screw dishes, those come in handy.

Very nice experience, though it is short and won't run 30fps on GT 720 gpu.

Actually every game on the list is beyond GT 720.

I would like to add a suggestion - Mindustry.
Very simple graphics, yet addictive. Not sure if even that runs flawlessly, but it's a free game (or $5€ in Steam)  so can at least test if it runs.

Ya_Mi reacted to mariushm in Where can i get the most up to date tech related news?
Anandtech has very thorough articles, with good explanations about how things work.
Toms Hardware is just OK, the amount of ads annoys me.
GamersNexus has well researched videos and does in-depth reviews and also posts articles / summaries of videos etc  on their website.
Ars Technica I see is mostly as news items.

WCCF.. yeah, rumors, leaks, stuff that may not realize/happen ... used to browse Semi Accurate often for the same reason, but the most recent articles are now behind paywalls (they unlock after a month or so) so don't visit it so often anymore. The guy who owns the website Charlie Demerjian worked on The Inquirer and he actually got some good leaks and predictions in the past but the paywall is annoying.

I enjoy watching/listening to The Full Nerd on PC World's Youtube channel - mix of IT news, entertainment, sometimes they invite people from companies like Intel / AMD / nVidia who talk about what they launch (but of course those people are usually only saying what they're allowed to say, not gonna get leaks or super honest answers from them, or answers to questions about competitors etc but nevertheless it's informative)
Have to admit I don't read their website much, maybe once a month I browse to see some articles there.

How long is a piece of string?

Everybody has different tastes and prefers different news sources depending on how their personal narratives align with the editorial direction of the sources. This isn't such a big deal with Tech News but yeah, some sites do try to push a certain narrative (probably more correct to say bias), even with Tech News.

WCCF is great for rumour mill stuff as long as you go in knowing most of it is rumour or speculation. For generally neutral stuff I suggest AnandTech, I personally avoid Toms since the site seems to strongly favour Intel over AMD and at this point, The Verge is more meme than serious source.
