The 7XL has a vertical GPU mount thingy which also can be used to solve HBA cooling problem. Here's how i did it:

And, yes, the LSA 12-gig HBA will thermal throttle without cooling off. Ask me how i know... And, yes, i klnow that what i'm using is technically a RAID controller, not HBA - but i used HBA before and it was overheating as well.

Interestingly - i'm using the same motherboard and the same case but because i DO use it as a VM/Compute server as well - i went and bought EPYC 7742. Which is currently also pretty cheap on Ebay (like sub-900 dollars for 64 cores/128 threads, which is nuts!).

Here's a cool idea for the "sidecar" module on 16in: how about an e-ink screen that can hold notifications from the PC even when there is no power? Like opening a laptop and it says "I'm not broken, you just forgot to charge me dumbass so battery is like dead dead, also your wife wants you to call her and good luck with your shitty rest of the day without me. 6:15am framework checking out".

Responded under the video. The cringe of Linus handling Intel CPU absolutely incorrectly is beyond painful. There is a video on ServeTheHome channel on how to install the new Intel CPU properly:
It works absolutely the same for LGA4677. There is a process. And there is a reason for that process. And Linus dripping thermal paste into the socket potentially killing the motherboard is one of the reasons.

And what's up with your benchmarks? They are so bad! Here, i have just a single Xeon Platinum 8461V, the same number of cores and threads but lower turbo boost clock and significantly lower TDP (and my CPU was power restrained all the time):

And you got what? +12% from adding a whole second CPU? Not mentioning that i only have 2 sticks of RAM in my system effectively reducing memory bandwidth by 75%. I do not think your score is correct at all.

My latest attempt on optimizing the environment - slightly higher score, 17321. Plus not so great single core of 363 (yeah, i know, new Xeons just don't cut it in single core game).

Here's my score - not a real O/C, it's just the way my machine runs 24/7 so it has to be stable.
Dual Platinum 8168 with all cores turbo boost and bclk at 102.9. 192GB of DDR4@2666. At least i've beaten their stupid baseline.

Going embedded (COM Express land here). First entry - Core i7 4700EQ

And here is the module installed and on the table (USB Stick added for size comparison)

    Second - Weird Xeon-D board (Xeon D-1537)
Again, board on the test stand and on the table:

I think it is some kind of server control module or something - but i'm not sure, will be glad to hear the original purpose of this board. As of myself - i'm looking for some compact carrier board for the Type6 COM Express to create a small (Intel Nuc size) all in one server that i can carry around in my pocket.

2 more SO-DIMMS. Actually there is another board from ASRock with 6 memory slots and no M.2 slots - epc621d6i. Unfortunately there is no space due to the clearance with the motherboard tray to put both 2 dimms and m.2 slots on the back of it (or 4 dimms for that matter). Here you can see how bottom SO-DIMMS are wired:

    1. Time machine as a backup/migration tool is superior and is available out of the box.
    2. Unix nature for me - long time Unix/Linux user - is much more flexible, allows remote login with SSH, most of the software and scripts can be tested "as is" without the need of adopting it to the Windows file format and such. It is like a super-stable Linux with much better UI.
    3. Well thought UI that takes a minimal amount of extra screen estate freeing up the canvas for the more important stuff. Full screen applications management and a virtual desktop management is just better than anything else. Windows with the latest Win10 updates is catching up but still not fully there.
    4. Ecosystem. iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and MacBook Pro - it all just feels like a one piece of digital space. Your laptop unlocks when you open it with Apple Watch, your watch unlocks when you unlock your phone, you can pay with your watch and add tips on the phone later, you can order tickets on laptop, get electronic tickets on the phone and use watch as a boarding pass in the gates. I can go on and on - it is super convenient.

Ok, Asus listened to my plea and released BIOS today. For some reason some settings are not made it from previous version and seems like this version is quite slow - while on ASRock motherboard replacing 81xx CPU with 82xx counterpart gave me about 15-20% of performance boost, the Asus m/b only gives me about 5-7% increase in CBr20 and CBr15 got even slower than it was on 6186. Interesting...

Preparing for the upgrade - if only Asus support would be as good as ASRock one - i have to validate my new CPUs on single socket board... Anyways - Xeon Platinum 8268, Cinebench R20 - 10471, Cinebench R15 - 4492. When Asus will make new BIOS for C621 SAGE i will be able to post dual CPU score with this beauty. And will be able to O/C the s... out of them. ASRock - you ROCK, Asus - you s^H don't.

Well - on the R15 sheet he noted that he entered data up to the 689th page of this topic and i do not see even a link to the R20 results so i would not expect these results appear on the sheet any time soon. I mean - Jumper definitely has stuff to do other than keeping up with our submissions. Over 700 pages - that is a lo-o-ong thread to catch up for anyone
