  1. Hi all, I am planning on doing an upgrade to some mac minis that I am planning on using in a cluster. The memory on them needs to be upgraded and I am just wondering what brand of memory to use. I have been doing some research and found that most people recommended Crucial for their reliability, however, they are pretty expensive. I saw on amazon there was a kit from a brand called TimeTec, but I have not heard about them before. Does anyone know how reliable this brand is or who is their chip manufacturer? Thank you for any feedback
  2. @Needfuldoer @TVwazhere Thank you guys both for the input and sorry for the delayed reply. I ultimately ended up getting the Original Prusa MK4. The deciding factor really came down to the parts availability for the printer, the reputation of the brand, the ability to print with multiple different colors with the attachment you can buy from them, and the ability to buy the different accessories over time instead of all at once which gives me the ability to spread out the cost more over time instead of all at once. It should arrive around July LOL. Thanks again!
  3. Hi all - I am looking to upgrade my 3D Printer experience from the standard Creality Ender-3's that I have now. I bought them during the pandemic to help out first responders and hospital staff with face shields and other PPE that could be 3D Printed. They have served me well but are starting to annoy me. For starters the new 3D Printer must have auto-leveling. I do not want to fiddle around with a plastic card trying to get the bed level for hours anymore. I want it to be automatic. That is really the only mandate I have for the new printer, other than the budget which has to be under $1000. Some nice to have features would be the ability to network print, which both the AnkerMake M5 and the Prusa MK4 offer. The ability to use multiple colors would also be nice, but not a must-have. Mostly what I would be printing with is PLA and ABS, other materials would be nice but not mandatory either. The printer is going in my basement so I am not too worried about noise level. An enclosure for it would be nice, which the Prusa MK4 also offers, but is not mandatory. I am open to all different printers as long as they are within budget, have good support, and they MUST have auto-leveling. The ones I was looking at are the AnkerMake M5, the Prusa MK4 kit, and the Bambu Lab P1P. I do not mind having to assemble the 3D Printer. Any assistance would be appreciated!
  4. Hi all- I am looking to get a GPU for a VR PC I am making for my basement and to play some games on. This is not a main PC, so I do not want to spend a ton of money on the GPU. I previously made a forum post about this and I had settled on the RX 5700 XT, but the gpu I ended up getting was defective so I had to return it. In addition the RTX 3060 I had before is now freed up so I could use that. The system I am putting it in is a Ryzen 7 3700X & B450 - based system. I can sell the RTX 3060 also and get something better if that makes more sense in this system. I was thinking either RTX 2070 Super or RTX 3060 Ti. What do you guys think? I want something that reasonably fits the system I am putting it in, but does not totally break the bank.
  5. I just ordered the P3 Plus. Thank you!
  6. Alright, I'll be going new then. I narrowed it down to these options. The P3 Plus caught my attention, but which would you pick?
  7. Ok great! Yeah this drive for the most part will only be used for gaming, maybe the occasional video stream from a server on my network. What do you think about buying new vs used? Edit: What about the 2TB Crucial P3 Plus?
  8. Hi all, I am looking to get a new 2TB NVMe SSD with a heatsink that wont break the bank. I was contemplating buying second hand, but I don't know if that is a good idea? This is for a secondary PC so nothing of real importance will be stored on it. Mostly just to store game files. I would like the SSD to be reliable still however, but in the event that the SSD did die, it would not be the end of the world. I like the Samsung 980 Pro with the heatsink but that $250 price tag is just too high to justify for a secondary PC. Let me know if you guys have any good advice!
  9. Hi all- I am looking to replace our Epson XP-830 printer as the thing is literally always out of ink or broken (prints lines through my print). I've tried doing the head clean the alignment all the different troubleshooting tips to try and fix the printer. It fixes it for about 10 prints and then it does it again. I am not sure if this is because we are not using the printer enough or what. The printer probably gets used about once per week, mostly for printing things like eBay labels, but also for the occasional picture. I want to sell this printer we have and replace it with something more reliable and that still has good picture quality. The budget is around $400. I am open to buying printers on eBay if they are normally a $800+ printer, sometimes they can be found on eBay Open Box for around $400. I was looking at the Epson Ecotanks since you can refill the ink with the bottles instead of spending a bazillion dollars on their proprietary cartridges, but I think I hate Epson and dont really want to give them any more business. Is there really a big difference in quality of the print between a color laser printer and an inkjet printer? I've found a lot of conflicting information online. I was thinking about getting a laser printer since people say the quality seems to be better and they seem to be more reliable from my experience. For the most part I am printing in monochrome, but sometimes I need the ability to print in decent quality for some photos. This is why color is a must have. I would also prefer a printer that has the copier on the top for the occasional copies I need to make. For the laser printers on Consumer Reports I read that the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw and the Brother MFC-L3770CDW are both rated well, the brother being half the price however. This is so overwhelming and there are too many variables to take into consideration. I know someone will recommend just getting a thermal printer for my eBay labels, but those things are like $300 and I don't sell nearly enough stuff to justify the cost of that.
  10. Hi all, I recently took the RTX 3060 out of a computer I have for our entertainment center to take back with me to school (have it in an eGPU enclosure) and I want to find a good balance of price/performance that suits the computer the new GPU is going in. I am open to buying both new and used GPUs. The specs of the machine are: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports CPU Cooler Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard Storage: Samsung 860 Evo 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Intel 660p 1.02 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive Video Card: ?? Case: Corsair iCUE 220T RGB Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: EVGA 850 BQ 850 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11 Pro OEM - DVD 64-bit Wireless Network Adapter: TP-Link Archer TX3000E 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax PCIe x1 Wi-Fi Adapter Case Fan: Corsair iCUE SP120 RGB Pro 52 CFM 120 mm Fan Case Fan: Corsair iCUE SP120 RGB ELITE 47.7 CFM 120 mm Fan Case Fan: Corsair iCUE SP120 RGB ELITE 47.7 CFM 120 mm Fan Memory: CORSAIR Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin SDRAM DDR4 3600 Memory: CORSAIR Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin SDRAM DDR4 3600 NIC: TP-Link TX401 10GbE PCIe x4 Adapter I was looking at the RTX 3060-Ti, the 2070 Super, or the 2080. They all seem expensive though still second hand so I was also considering AMD equivalents. I would like to be between $200 - $300 on the GPU as this is not a main computer so spending a ton of money on it would not make a lot of sense.
  11. Alright sounds like I will be staying with the Sony WH-XB900Ns for a bit longer. I read a lot of bad reviews too about people being disappointed with the XM5s. Thanks everyone!
  12. Hi all- I am looking at upgrading my headphones. I want something that has more bass than what I currently have. I currently have a pair of Sony WH-XB900Ns. I got them 2 years ago. I like them a lot but I find the bass lacking sometimes and I have the "Extra Bass" function cranked to 10. I also have a pair of Skully Candy Crusher Wireless' but the Bass on those just sounds so artificial since it's using haptics. It also doesn't work all the time, sometimes it totally cuts out. I was looking at the Sony WH-1000XM5's but I heard some people say the Bass isn't that great on them also they are quite pricey, so if I am spending that much on something I want it to be perfect. I need something that has really good noise canceling too as I want to be able to wear them on flights or when I study also. Wireless is also a must have and USB-C charging is preferred but not a must. If anyone has any good recommendations let me know
  13. @person123456789 @lw88 @IPD @OhioYJ I ended up buying the HippoKeys one of everything sample pack. I'll report back after I find out which one I like. It looks like Hippo Keys just sells the switches, so where can I get a blank keyboard to put the switches in after I pick one?
  14. I do NOT want a membrane feeling keyboard ever again. The sample things to test the key switches seem a lil expensive for only a few keys. Looking at this Cherry MX graph: I think I want a Normal sounding keyboard, not one that is ridiculously loud, so that leaves me with the MX Brown, Black, or Red. Any recommendations for those?
  15. Thats the thing I don't know I like the idea of getting a sample set. Any recommendations?
  16. @person123456789 Thanks for that recommendation I like the way those look. Any key switch recommendations?
  17. I realized that that is also something I do need. Once I got my first backlit keyboard it made the keys so much easier to see. I would prefer if I could swap the keys for ease of repair if possible. Thanks for bringing that up.
  18. Hi all, I am looking to upgrade my current gaming keyboard which is a Logitech G213 membrane "mechanical feel" keyboard. I want to go mechanical, but I have no experience with mechanical keyboards so I do not know where to start. For workload this will be for casual gaming, and for a lot of web browsing and typing. I need a number pad still that is a must. Wired or wireless is fine no preference there. Backlit keys are also a must. The ability to be able to fix the keyboard like swappable keys would also be nice. The budget is $150 or around there but definitely nothing over $200.
  19. @person123456789 I narrowed it down to these 3. I decided that wireless was a necessity. SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Wireless Sony-INZONE H7 Wireless Logitech G Astro A30 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Of these 3 which would you recommend the most?
  20. That is ok then. What would be a good headset with a built in mic?
  21. I'm trying to avoid extra wires and hassle. Built in would be preferred. Got any other recommendations?
  22. The one with the included microphone is unfortunately out of the budget.
