  1. Hey, OK so I got a whole new setup for 4K. It includes the Vizio P55-F1 (4K and Dolby vision) and A Sony STR-DH790 (4K 60hz and Dolby vision compatible). When I hook up my Apple TV 4K to the receiver and then the tv I get a 4K signal with Dolby vision enabled. However, with my new Xbox one X, when I use the cable provided (or the ones that work with my Apple TV) it says that my tv can’t handle 4K 60hz, it can’t do HDR (when I do that check tv thing). If I plug it directly into my tv it seems to work fine. Not it sure what is going on (firmware is up to date on all components). I want to use the receiver for ease of changing inputs and don’t want to use the tv speakers and not my sound system (can I use the arc channel to bring audio to the receiver into a spare input?) thanks for the help
  2. I am going to be purchasing a new 4k TV. I have it all picked out to utilize Dolby Vision but am wondering what kind of HDMI cable is required. I have looked into this but just can't grasp it. The items I am going to purchase are (they are within my budget so don't bother suggesting replacing items): TV: Vizio P55-F1 Cable Box: Apple TV 4k Receiver: Either Yamaha RXV385, Denon AVRS540BT or Sony STRDH790 I will also eventually be getting an Xbox One X. I know that it is digital signal so really the cable doesn't matter and that I don't have to splurge for the most expensive cable as it won't give me a better picture, but I just want to make sure that I can enjoy the Dolby Vision (as that is the reason for getting this setup). They all have different specs (speeds), some say HDR others don't. These are my choices for HDMI cables: Cheap: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B014I8SP4W/ref=twister_B016I3XG0S?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Mid-Range: https://www.costco.ca/WireLogic™-Sapphire-0.91-m-(3-ft.)-High-Speed-HDMI™-Cable-2-pack.product.100127566.html Mid-range: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/rocketfish-1-2m-4ft-hdmi-cable/10655693.aspx? Any help is appreciated!
  3. Great to know. Thanks for the help!
  4. Hey All, I currently have an ASUS monitor with a max refresh rate of 75hz. When playing WoW I can average 60fps not a problem but then in a raid it drops significantly (sometimes to single digits). I am in the middle of upgrading my computer from Athalon 64 x2 and GeForce 9600 to an i5 7600k with RX 480 and don't have the funds to also include a monitor. My question is this: with an upgraded system that will be able to handle more FPS than the monitor can handle, when it gets to the times when it is visually intensive, will I still be able to maintain that 60FPS? Thanks.
  5. Not sure what the first part is referring to. I just put the parts in there for the SSD as I am unsure as to if getting an M.2 was worth it or if I should get a larger SATA SSD.
  6. Hey all, So it has been a very long time since actually upgrading my computer (last time was when dual cores were just coming out). I don't game much on my computer that often as I have consoles for that, but there are some games that I wish to play but unfortunately do not have a computer good enough for it. Games wanting to play include: Cities Skyline, Civilization 6, Stardew Valley and the like. Not much into the FPS games just RTS or RPG games. I will probably only be gaming in 1080P as that is the current monitor that I have, but maybe down the road upgrade to 1440, I don't see going to 4k. I have been looking at some of the new developments (and there have been many) in the field and have put together a rough build as to what I think I am looking for. I have a budget of approx $1200 to $1500 Canadian (I live in Canada). Was looking for a second opinion (as to if this is overkill or not) and clarification on some questions. Here is the Part list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/QWjcjc all to fit in this case: http://www.corsair.com/carbide-series-spec-alpha-mid-tower-gaming-case-white-red Some of the questions: Is the processor overkill? I don't need a unlocked one (as I don't overclock or know how to), but wondering if the 7500 would be better for some savings. I like the idea of a water cooled CPU, but again not sure if it is really worth it or if I should stick with the stock cooler. I currently have a SATA 3 SSD and 2TB HD in my PC. I was going to reuse these but wondering if the SSD should be upgraded as it is only 60GB and full already. Is an M.2 drive worth it as a boot drive, or should I compile the SSD and M.2 and just get a bigger SSD? The graphics card should be good enough for what I need it for and I don't see myself spending $500+ on a new one especially because I am getting a whole new rig. The PSU, is this too much? Should I decrease it? Thanks for helping me out!
