  1. The mobo only holds 16gb. Dual channel isn't that great of a difference. It'd be a waste to upgrade later if you couldn't expand without removing the 2x4 ram. Don't you think?
  2. Here's a draft I made, not sure whether it's good or not. It's also a bit over the price I'd like to hit. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks CPU: AMD FX-4130 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor ($94.98 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: ASRock 960GM/U3S3 FX Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($53.99 @ Newegg) Memory: A-Data XPG Gaming Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($62.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.99 @ NCIX US) Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 5450 1GB Video Card (Purchased For $0.00) Case: BitFenix Merc Alpha (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($29.99 @ NCIX US) Power Supply: Antec 450W ATX Power Supply ($34.99 @ Newegg) Total: $336.93
  3. Building a ~$300 budget build for a friend as a gift... (Trust me it's better than his 2004 HP Pavilion.) He already has a XFX Radeon 5450. ( I know it's not great but work out it please.) He uses a very low resolution monitor, 1024x768. Which allows him to game on his current pc decently (Skyrim on High with some mods.) Would like to pay no more than $350 after shipping and taxes if possible. Thank you for all considerations and options!
  4. Well the best Phenom is $95 and the best Athlon is $80.
  5. Looking for a budget CPU ~$80. Was looking at Athlon 750k, FX 4100, and Some APUs. Also saw the Phenom and wanted to check.
  6. What's the difference between the Athlon and Phenom CPU? And would a FX 4100 be better than either of them?
  7. I believe it's because the files are Mac. I need to format it on a windows computer or something. Do you think they'd let me do that at Staples?
  8. Hello & Happy Holidays to All! I've just built a brand new computer for Christmas but I've ran into an issue. I do not have any other Windows based computers I only have a Mac based computer so that's all I am able to use to format the USB flashdrive to boot. I cannot get my USB flashdrive to boot on the new computer so I can install an OS. I've attempt Unetbootin and dd commands but still not working out. Could anyone please help me? I've been at this for several hours now. Things I have: 8gb Flash Drive and Windows7.iso My OS X version is 10.8.5 Any help is REALLY appreciated. I've been saving up for this computer for a while now and it just sucks I'm being held back from using it because of a OS boot issue.
  9. Still nothing. Have had my computer built for 8 hours and have used many tutorials with no avail.
  10. I've tried so many different ways and still no dice...
  11. I used Unetbootin and when I went to boot on my new computer it went to a black screen with a white blinking underscore in the top left. HELP!
