  1. UPDATE: I got it working by plugging in my working stick of RAM, setting the speed to 2800 MHz in BIOS (the speed of the memory that I couldn't get working), and then swapping in the new set.
  2. System: MSI B450I Gaming Plus AC Ryzen 3 2200G 2x4 GB G.Skill Ripjaws V 2800 MHz (F4-2800C16D-8GVR) Inwin Chopin mITX case w/ 150W 80+ Bronze PSU (I have 2 identical sets of these systems) (I have SSDs for these, but they have not been plugged in yet) I am having issues getting this build to post using this specific kit of RAM. I have done the following: 1) Tried each stick in each slot (none work) 2) Tried each stick in a different system (working, POSTs normally) 3) Tried different sticks in this system (working, POSTs normally) 4) Updating the BIOS to the latest version (no change) I contacted MSI to try to troubleshoot, but essentially their answer is that it just isn't compatible for some reason or another (the kit is NOT on the QVL). I could return the kit, however I would end up losing about $25 to Newegg, since there's nothing wrong with it, so I would like to get it working if at all possible. Any thoughts? Let me know if you need more information.
  3. I think I misjudged it honestly, unless being in my case is somehow making it louder. I forgot that my GPU fans are rather loud (going to replace those with Noctua NF-A9 x 14 fans the second they come out in black), so I blamed the PSU. Though then again, maybe it was and it's just piped down since.
  4. Sorry for forgetting about this, but I actually wanted to see for myself how loud it is isolated. I'm not sure, but I think it's gotten quieter in the last few weeks, but here's a test I just did:
  5. I don't see why it wouldn't work, I will also ask, why NVME? And why such a small capacity?
  6. I have the rest of my system practically silent (noctua redux fans wherever I can put them), and when I got this PSU I was a little sad at the fan noise. Perhaps mine is faulty as well? I've been thinking about contacting EVGA and seeing if I could pay the difference for a G2 or G3, which has eco mode. I keep my system in my bedroom, like 5 feet from my bed, so any noise my system makes at idle is irritating. If I remember I'll check later today to perhaps take some recordings of it or comment on if it sounds similar.
  7. I got that exact PSU recently, I'll have to check if mine makes the same noise. I know that at the very least it's a little loud, there's no fanless/eco mode that I know of for this one.
  8. I wouldn't say it's JUST started, but it's more recent. Almost certainly going to rip it open in a few hours when I'm done with classes for the day. The ethernet port is near that spot, and there is a small vent at the bottom, so networking and/or speakers aren't out of the question.
  9. So I have this old laptop I'm using for school, that looks something like the image below, as far as visuals it's exactly the same minus the stickers. (HP Envy m6-1125dx is the model I have, with an i5-3210m, 8 GB RAM (2x4), and a 256 GB SSD that I swapped in). In both Ubuntu and Windows 8.1, I get this warm spot on the bottom left corner of the chassis, right next to the trackpad (it's much worse in Ubuntu). The thing that baffles me, is that as far as I can tell, there's nothing *that* important there. CPU is on the top left, SSD is under the trackpad, RAM is above the SSD, battery is in the back(top), power input is from the top right. As far as I know, the only things there are 2 USB ports and the headphone jack. The only thing I can think of it being is the GPU, but I'm not sure why it would be down there, far away from the processor (integrated graphics, though I think I've seen them separate in laptops before). I have taken this apart a few times, and probably will be again to check for any glaring signs of a short or something. This is a relatively recent development it seems, and it also happens when the laptop is shut (on Ubuntu, at least. Haven't tried Windows). I decided to post here since any google search containing "laptop" and "warm" gives you... Well you know. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? And perhaps any solutions? I'm trying to make this last for at least another semester, but as time goes on I'm having more and more problems with it, most recently it's been with battery life, but I think that's just an Ubuntu thing.
  10. I recently bought a OnePlus6, and I'm having trouble with group messages. I have a group that I think is mostly iPhone users, not sure if that matters, but when I get the messages, I can't tell who sent them. Everything else is fine, they're all under one message slot, similar to iOS. Having the notification display who sent the message as well would be nice, but I at least want to be able to tell who sent what in the first place. I'm using the messaging app that came stock with the OP6.
  11. Have you made sure that all power cables are seated properly? Also, perhaps try booting from the iGPU, and pulling out the 1080 Ti, and see if that does anything different.
  12. Could be a bad drive perhaps? Can you reliably get into the BIOS/UEFI? If you can, I would start suspecting the drive.
  13. All I can think of is, is your keyboard plugged into a USB 2 or 3 (or 3.1) slot? I had issues with my keyboard (a Corsair one) plugged into USB 3, and it was resolved with a USB 2 port. Something to try.
  14. You mentioned the build knowingly does not have a case, but you also do not have an SSD. For a build that high end, an SSD should be a no brainer. At the bare minimum, get a 240ish GB SSD from a name brand, like Samsung or WD (there are more, but those are the first that came to mind). As for the CPU, if you're waiting, I would look at what Threadripper 2 has to offer, either meaning you get more performance, or the 1950X further drops in price.
  15. There is only one version of the app, and I just checked, it only works when transferring from other Androids.
