  1. Review sugg: Can we slap Mr. @LinusTech on one of these babies? For science Of course it's tech related, the dash is digital.
  2. EDIT: I figured it out Hey everyone, I recently encountered a frustrating situation with CyberGhost VPN on Pop_OS!, and I'm hoping someone here might have some insight or solutions. Here's what happened: My brother and I wanted to play Metal Slug on Fightcade online, but we ran into issues when both trying to connect from the same network. After some research, I decided to install CyberGhost VPN on my Pop_OS! laptop to see if it would resolve the problem. Surprisingly, it did the trick! We were able to play the game online without any issues. However, once we were done, I attempted to disconnect and uninstall CyberGhost. Here's where things went wrong: I initially i was typing the wrong command to stop the VPN service. I had mistakenly typed sudo cyberghostvpn stop However the correct command was sudo cyberghostvpn --stop so i was getting an error. I didn't care to figure out the correct command because I thought "Whatever, I'll just restart the pc and the service should stop" Well after restarting my laptop while still connected to vpn the service, I attempted to uninstall CyberGhost. Now, uninstalling the software required authentication with CyberGhost's servers, so it should be no problem. BUT, after the restart, my internet connection was completely shot. Firefox, Steam, Pop shop and even updates couldn't connect. Except Chromium for some reason. So i was unable to uninstall I reached out to CyberGhost's support for assistance, but unfortunately, I only received copy paste bull poop. To verify if it was a me or their software, I was able to replicate the same scenario in a virtual machine, and I encountered the same connectivity issue. I was able to uninstall using as super user, but the issue persists. I'd greatly appreciate any advice or troubleshooting tips you could offer. Thanks in advance for your help! I hope it makes sense Here's the install script Here's the uninstall script Also im not very linux pproficient
  3. I am completely baffled that this store is in business. I ordered a dryer machine igniter from this store. It came in yesterday and I realized sent me the wrong part. damn I called and emailed them yesterday and today. Nothing. In fairness they state that they reach out within 2 business day. I should get a reply tomorrow? I know I sound pessimistic right off the bat and that's because I looked up the reviews for this place and....... They're mostly bad! https://www.resellerratings.com/store/Appliance_Parts_365 https://www.bbb.org/us/oh/cincinnati/profile/small-appliance-parts/appliance-parts-365-0292-90007881/complaints luckily it was only 14 bucks. However these are troubling time in the kingdom. 14 bucks is a nice meal I'll update tomorrow edit: forgot to place in offtopic.
  4. Get insurance. A lot of people commit hit and runs. If you get hurt, you're going to be stuck with hospital bills.
  5. The server itself is in a commercial location however the internet is still being used like its the internet. How can i have have a website without it being on port 80 or 443? How can i protect it? Cant I use pfsense to block server access to the local network? Also the ISP its under doesn't even seem to block port 80 or 443.
  6. Ubuntu server. I thought cloudflare was a paid service. I looked it up again and see it's free. I will be implementing it soon. Thanks! Also also will be installing fail2ban. I just don't like the idea of opening my ssh to the Internet.
  7. I have port 443 open for https and port 80 as certbot needs it open.
  8. Hey guys so I just bought a tiny qotom pc to run pfsense on since I've been running my webserver for a year now with just Wordfence plugin protecting it. I wasn't able to afford to get a firewall and since I want to operate a nextcloud server now is a great time to learn some basic network security I don't know much about network security as there are many ways to attack a network but I've been watching network chuck and other videos and pfsense seems promising. That being said I don't have remote ssh set up because I'm afraid of brute force attacks. Also my website is online store with practically no traction other than bots attacking my network, so security is important. I also have ip cameras set up for remote access and the firmware SUCKS, I can't change the username so it's stuck at admin, which is such a security risk. So.... Is this the a good way to secure my web server, local network, and nextcloud? Do I need pfsense to secure my servers? How do you guys secure your network? Is it best to just run these services through a cloud service like linode?
  9. Sprays use canola or vegetable oil. Olive oil is wayyy better. Warm up them tortillas on a pan with no oil or in a microwave. Also, air fryers are just weird shaped toaster ovens.
  10. Soooooo I keep getting choppy game play on red bread. Here are benchmarks on LOWEST settings. It's still choppy as flip edit: this is on 1920 1080p Here are my specs. The game is installed on an HDD. I was thinking more system memory?
  11. I hate stuff like this, they're just unconvincing the actual customers. This is like when I go to Walmart in a poor neighborhood and everything is locked up and you need to ask for help to get a gallon of milk. And Walmart customer service is sooooo asinine
  12. Morality is subjective. Some kill their unborn children, others can't fathom it.
  13. I usually throw them away when I get a hole forming at the bottom. My shoes right now.
  14. Free market decides it's value. Technically a dollar has no value, other than the one we as society subconsciously gives it.
  15. You're under the impression that I don't understand the consequences of not being vaccinated. This is what I mean when people that aren't vaccinated are looked at as morons by the vaccinated. Everything you said is not new information. Please, allow people to take responsibility for their actions.
  16. I'm not really spinning it. This argument can go back and forth. This is why it's controversial. I just want my choices respected. I understand people should get vaccinated and I'm not telling people they shouldn't. I also understand why many are not. I also know that there are crazy people that believe crazy things about the vaccine. Soo as I mentioned in the first post, many vaccinated people do not share this sentiment of understanding.
  17. Ok but what's the difference if I'm vaccinated or not. Only me, myself and I would have less serious issues when I get sick. I can still spread the virus to the public if I'm vaccinated. Ultimately it's like eating Nutella, still a personal choice.
  18. This is NOT the sentiment among the vaccinated. It's either you're vaccinated or you're crazy, stupid, selfish, Karen, anti masker, COVID deniers or any other crazy thing they can pin on you. We get it, you're better than us. Just leave us have our reasons for not get vaccinated like you would for people that smoke or drink or do anything unhealthy. I eat Nutella, it's unhealthy shit, but I'm a grown ass adult. I'll be damned if my decision to eat Nutella is taken away! Just like my decision to be unvaccinated.
  19. The quality is definitely there. The stigma that it's for pros just shouldn't stand today. Even if I was a "pro" I could buy 2 or 3 pairs of top shelf harbor freight tools for probably the same price as one snap on tool. With the exception of some tools.
  20. Anything with EASY lifetime warranty. Harbor freight is where I get most of my crap. I hear snap on is really good but that shit is honestly too rich for my blood.
  21. Isn't Google play free? If it's for personal use you can upload through Google cloud, and share the link. To install just set android phone in developer mode. No one would download or should install apps that aren't in Google play store.
