  1. I feel its easy to get lost in the weeds and we're all human we make mistakes but this behavior is inexcusable along with your many poorly formed responses Linus. Any logical individual can see you're very in the wrong here and in many ways with a long history of mistakes. Which is fine but own them and apologize to community for acting like how we've seen Intel or AMD act so many times in public. Own up to these mistakes please, take a breath and a minute or day to think about the facts and for once, actually watch the video about you and your company. Instead of reading the cliff notes or comments as you've admitted to many times before when responding to content on The WAN Show.

I think with an apology, clarifications and backing down from this gaslighting you're trying to do. Much of this can be repaired but its all up to you Linus. We in the community know you have a good heart and believe in ethics so show us you haven't strayed from those beliefs.

  2. Thanks for all the info and help. Ended up solving my problem with a few solutions. 1. I changed the Ethernet ports from "auto" to 1GBps in the modem settings. 2. I changed the cable out 2 more times that goes from the modem to the switch. 3. Called AT&T about the blue port not working and they are shipping me a new modem. I believe the 3rd Ethernet cable I tried was the solution but can confirm your light trick and speed test now shoes devices on the switch getting their full 1GBps!!!
  3. So I tried port 1 which is blue in color and labeled 5GB. The switch does not work when plugged in to port 1. I reseated both sides of the cable and no other cables work in port 1. I get no indicator lights and no internet. I tested port 1 with multiple cables and devices, none of them work. A quick google search shows a couple reports of the issue on my exact Modem BGW320-505 but no sure fire solution.
  4. Not gonna lie. I don't understand what you're asking, lol. My NIC? Is that something I can check in Windows 11 on my main PC? And no worries about the obvious or "dumb" questions. Like I said, I don't know much when it comes to networking, lo. Um, I messed with it so much I honestly can't recall accurately. I will try port 1 when I get back from class and report back
  5. So my internet speed is 1 Gigabit. 1000Mbps up and down. Speed test confirms that speed on my PC, the Xbox, my Plex PC and my wife's PC when they are plugged directly into the modem. Using the same cables but adding in the network switch my speeds change to about 90-100Mbps on the same speed test across all devices. So I'm just lost on what is restricting my speed when using the switch because from my understanding the switch is rated for 5Gbps aka 1Gbps per port of the 5 port switch. I don't expect 1GBps per port at the same time but 100Mbps is pretty slow in my opinion. Especially when using Xbox Game Pass and frequently downloading games. Plus my Plex server runs some full blown 4k Blu-ray which is like 75-100+Mbps bit rate. I don't know if bitrate of the blu-ray files translates the same but I know it's slow and choppy when plugged into the switch. My point is I'm not trying to be ignorant or difficult. The situation just doesn't make sense to me and again thank all of you for the responses and help so far!
  6. Omg I'm so sorry that was a typo. The switch I bought says 5-port Gigabit TP-Link TL-SG105 and that it supports 10/100/1000Mbps. I completely goofed on the numbers! I'm sorry. Reading through all your responses now.
  7. First off I'm not good with networking stuff so I apologize if I don't know much terminology or troubleshooting techniques. Our ISP AT&T fiber recently upgraded our gateway/modem. It only has 3 Ethernet ports so I bought an unmanaged switch. The issue is when ever I plug something into the switch it only gets about 100Mbps. My internet speeds is 1000Mbps and the same cables plugged into the new modem allow 1000Mbps. All devices behave this way when plugged into the switch. My Plex PC and my Xbox. I restarted the devices and the modem after connecting the switch. So can anyone please offer some suggestions or point out what I'm missing. It's a cheap unmanaged switch but it's rated for 5GBps as 5 1/10/100Mbps ports. Thanks in advance, I don't usually post on forums but reddit and Google searches are not very helpful in this topic.
  8. Sorry for the insanely late response. Holiday took over our lives with travel. Anyways I have not tried resetting the router but I will some time tomorrow because this issue is getting old. Lol. Thanks again for all the input and suggestions.
  9. Um I'm not sure how to answer that, the Modem and Router are both branded Spectrum but I'm not sure who the manufacturer and or model is or where to find it? So the set up is our office has the modem, router and two gaming PC's that are wired to the router. The TV and one xbox is on wifi and the other xbox is wired as well. Aside from changing the default password for our network I haven't adjust any settings in windows 10 or the router. I'm not great with networking stuff so sorry for my ignorance.
  10. So I'm not sure what info the community may need? Our set up is two gaming PC's in the same room, both wired connections. We're using the provided modem and router from Spectrum. Idk about my wife's PC but all my drivers are up to date via windows and directly from motherboard website for internet drivers. The issue that only I have and have had for at least a month I'd say. Issue 1 "no valid ip" randomly and frequently. Issue 2 "can't find DNS" randomly and frequently. By freqduently I mean almost daily. I usually have to Google CMD lines to reset ipconfig or netsh int in reset coommands and restart my PC to get it working again. It's a minor issue but super annoying, thanks in advance and let me know any details I need to add that will help!
  11. SSD prices have been in a steady decline lately so wouldn't be a bad time to pick up a 500GB for around $100+- a few bucks. Especially before things change and we see a 10-25% price hike based on lack of demand and tarrifs. That would drastically increase boot times, inmprove game load times and general responsiveness of your system vs a GPU that would raise FPS but if you're already close to 60fps then doesn't seem like a worthy investment compared to the SSD in my opinion.
  12. Just going off my old 4670 it could really depend on settings and game. But my 4670 struggled on ultra settings with a lot of AA or MSAA. Anything that added a layer of processing per frame basically. I would really insist it's the CPU from my own personal experience. Again I'd monitor different part sof your hardware in a variety of games and settings. See what bottlenecks or post some pics back on here so we can all help as much as possible. A used i7 could be an option or a motherboard/CPU upgrade could also be an option. Waiting just a bit might be worth it for when Intel launches the 9 series and maybe you can catch a sale on 8th Gen 8600 or 8700k. My wife has a 8400 with a GTX 1060, works well together. I have a Ryzen 2700 with a GTX 1070, also work well together.
  13. We also don't know the exact settings each of you guys used. Maxed or ultra isn't always the same to everyone. We all tweak different little things. If that 7500 is just 4 cores 4 threads. I'd personally say CPU. I had a 4670 non K version and it bottlenecked my GTX 1070 in GTA Online, AC: Origins and a few other titles. Not R6 though. I was locked at 75fps on R6 BUT I have a 2560x1080p resolution. I'd monitor HDD, SDD, CPU, RAM, and GPU and see what caps out in what game and what your fps is at the time. Bottelnecks can change from game to game.i can't recall if you listed the hard drive these games are running on? (Probably not part of the issue though)
  14. Seems like an 8600 or 8600k is overkill for gaming and not very far from an 8400 in performance for the price difference. If you're gaming at 1080p high fps then 8600k or 8700k to match that 1080 ti. If you're just 60fps or 1440p+ then I'd say 8400 or 2600/2600x will be more than enough.
  15. Hello everyone from this awesome helpful community! (no sarcasm just sounds like it because it is the interwebs) I recently (like 2 days ago) upgraded my PC from an intel 4670 (non K) z87 platform to a X470 Ryzen 2700 ( non X) and now Plex Media Server has all kinds of issues. Out of thousands of shows and movies only a handful will play whether it be from the PC I'm on, the xbox or our phones. I know the content is good because when I plug the external drive into my wife's PC all the media streams just fine to any device. The only two changes that stick out to me are ONE I am running a Ryzen platform and TWO even though the Plex team confirmed this isn't the issue, I'm running an un activated version of Windows 10 ( not pirated just an OEM key that MS wouldn't activate due to hardware changes). So reaching out again to see what suggestions you'll might have?
