Well TUF does have a worse thermals compared to Strix.

But they are reliable. Me and my friends been using them for 2 years now

Honestly, highly depends on your needs.

School works won't need super color acurate displays. But on the other hand, the touch screen will be mighty helpful for your works. It's also cheap.

One downside, VivoBooks ofter feels extremely cheap in the hand. All plastic build will scratch like a Japanese Pudding after 1-2 years of normal use.

The ROG Flow X13. It's an amazing little beast with 16:10 touchscreen display which is great for productivity/browsing and Ryzen 7 58(9)00HS with GTX 1650 just in case you need the power. It can run completely on passive mode for most of the time i spend just browsing around.

The main downside is It's currently an Unobtanium device, i got very lucky to live in a country where most people don't have the money to buy this, so demand isn't such a big deal.

Sacriledgy reacted to Vishera in Should I cap my battery to 80% charge on my laptop I'm using plugged in 99% of the time?
While overcharge is not a thing, having the battery at 100% most of the time will degrade it faster and cause the battery to swell.

I recommend  to limit the battery to 55%~60%.

Apologies for reviving this rather old thread. But turns out it's a GPU power delivery issue.

Visited a service service center, got the Motherboard replaced for free since it's under warranty. Been perfectly fine ever since.

Do NOT buy the Blade. Its extremely unreliable, has a wide range of issues from the cheap PCB with garbage caps and fets, overheating, to battery swelling and death, to broken displays and audio subsystems, to melting power adapters because they made them too thin so they overheat and melt. Just don't waste your money on a Blade. They usually fail after a year and you'll regret spending so much money on such a low quality and failure prone device.

The GA502 is decent for an entry level thin gaming laptop. It's also got a relatively large battery and good screen. If you want the best, though,.the ThinkPad X1 Extreme is the best ultra portable gaming-xapablw laptop. With an undervolt, it's cool, quiet, powerful, extremely durable and reliable, water resistant, dirt/sand resistant, shock and drop resistant and has a solid 8-9 hour battery life

Stay away from HP(personal opinion for the brand). Go with a Dell just for the warranty(incomparable), i think they have inspiron models with Ryzen cpus and vega graphics. If you can find a vostro(xps would be optimal but pricey) model better go with that(better build quality and cooling). In any case don't forget to buy sth with a SSD. Lenovo would be my second choice. Newest thinkpads are solid options.

Personally I would upgrade the phone if that laptop is still working.
I do understand how useful a new good functioning laptop would be for your college life though.. its a difficult pick ?
If you think economical, the laptop makes more sense, very useful even after 2 years, the Samsung Galaxy S10 will probably have another brother in 2 years for around the same price

Pickup a programming language. Instead of screaming at your screen because you didn't get the skin you wanted you'll be screaming at your screen because after hours of work your application refuses to compile.

The ram will default to 2133MHz, which is the standard speed for DDR4. Anything else above that is considered an overclock, even if it's done by activating an XMP profile.
Your 3000MHz ram is guaranteed by the manufactured to work at speeds up to 3000MHz.
