  1. Win9 1.97 is now live on the eastcoast.hosting site. If anyone finds any game breaking bugs or security issues, please let me know. This is my daily driver OS too. Also have a look for what's maybe coming in 1.98 (if I can solve System File Checker (SFC) ruining it)
  2. I am in talks with HXRT900 to solve this. Its leftover trash from testing, not a security risk. It bothers me that there orphaned SIDs in my OS. I'll have it fixed for 1.9.7
  3. I've had nothing but trouble with GPU Passthru with more than 1 GPU. It always works great until you reboot the vm. After that, you need to reboot the entire host to get it to work again.
  4. adb logcat works without root. Might give you an idea of what's going on.
  5. I run a Linux based KMS emulator (TinyKMSv6) at work. Microsoft is okay with this as long as we have the licenses to back it up. We've had audits, and they never seem to have a problem with it. I've never had activation issues since spinning that VM up and setting the DNS entries. Even when swapping SSDs into completely different hardware.
  6. Yeah I've gotten used to the Win 8 style task manager and have reverted it for myself. Its just a simple registry key, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\taskmgr.exe Just delete the contents of the String Value Debugger More info here https://winaero.com/blog/how-to-restore-the-good-old-task-manager-in-windows-8/
  7. You need to google sysprep. Basically you install win10 on a vm, set it up as you want it, tweak the default profile, run sysprep and then capture using dism or imagex. You then take that captured image, and use that to replace the install.wim or install.esd in your iso using winiso or some iso editor - and you're done.
  8. You basically need to redo all the mods when there is a major Win10 build upgrade. I've gotten tired of redoing all the themes, and have gotten mostly used to the Win10 UI and theme - so my new builds are now mostly just privacy tweaks, ad and bloat removal, minor usability tweaks (classicshell, 7+ taskbar tweaker, oldnewexplorer), pre-configuration of settings, complete removal of modern apps and its subsystems, and some pre-installed software (such as Chrome and 7zip). However, I've noticed that most of my tweaks on my 1703 image did stay when I upgraded it to 1709. I'm happy it didn't try to re-download candy crush or whatever. I hope build upgrades stay like this. If I were to make a custom 1709 installer, I'd probably re-tweak it from scratch. Upgrade installs can have weird quirks, and I wouldn't want to base my main installer on a potentially unstable upgraded image.
  9. My second PC is a used server I got on eBay. I love this thing.
  10. Check the registry hive "Default". Load it from C:\Users\Default\ntuser.dat Anything here gets copied to the user's profile during first login. I am liking server 2k16 so far. I still got some more work to do, the network icon doesn't fit the theme, the colors are a bit off, the caption buttons are too large, and the start orb doesn't seem to be centered. Maybe Aero glass should can make a return.
  11. Wow, really? That sucks. It looks like Server 2016 has DX12, can anyone confirm? I honestly hope dx12 falls to Vulkan...
  12. Not really... I don't really track what changes I make to the system - so I might accidentally leave something in there that gives away my work or something that can allow M$ to hunt me down and sue. I found that server 2016 is a nice start for a clean win10. No junk and more control of updates. All you'd need to do after install is run an anti spying tool, find a start replacement, maybe some icon tweaks, set up oldnewexplorer and you basically got the above screenshot. For more stuff, you can follow various guides online on how to restore the personalization panel, taskmgr, volume control, right click menu, etc. Then lots of Group policy tweaks to disable annoyances.
  13. It keeps them pre-installed. Some stuff might deactivate after sysprep because the SID changes. You might have to put some customization into the default profile and its registry hive if you want it ready to go after first install.
