  1. Error 2009 might also indicate a faulty lightning cable. Definitely try another cable, too.
  2. There's a good chance it timed out in DFU mode while downloading the IPSW file, and reverted. I would just simply try DFU mode again, given that iTunes/Finder (depending if you're a Mac or PC) probably finished downloading it by then. If you have a Mac, I recommend you try using Apple Configurator 2 from the Mac App Store (it's free) instead of using Finder.
  3. Not entirely true, you *can* repair it yourself using the Apple-sanctioned Self-Repair program. OP, if you want OEM parts, it's about $156 after return credit (see attached image below for full bundle). Self-repair store (officially supported by Apple): https://selfservicerepair.com/en-US/order Apple Store will charge close to the same amount out-of-warranty. Keep in mind that if you intend to do this as a self-repair, you will need to rent their equipment.
