TIL the HX650 and HX750 from that product series have different modular connectors. Different OEMs so I'm not really surprised, just never really paid attention to it. I guess these days we're spoiled with compatibility from Corsair with Type 3/Type 4 cables you forget about the dark times where different units in the same product series used different cables.

It's very old, came out around 2009. The HX650 was fairly average back in 2009 (the HX750, HX850, and HX1000 of that series were much better at the time).
I would go with the Cooler Master G650M, it's probably only a few years old (rather than 10 years old) and better quality than the old HX650.

How much is your friend selling them to you for, and why do you need a new power supply? (What's your current power supply?)

The Corsair HX650 unit OP has is not included in the PSU Tier List as it has been discontinued for few years short of a decade. The HX models listed in the Tier List are completely different and cannot be compared.
There's also no HX units in Tier B in the PSU tier list you linked to.

mhm so for a stock cooler setup that is about the best the average consumer can get (@steelo's overclock).

It depends. It is impossible to say whether one is better than the other. Exhaust design is an optimization problem for a number of variables (eg, powerband, weight, noise, sound, flow, and smell) and there is no perfect system, just the ideal system for your use case.

Check dyno graphs for dual vs single on whatever chassis you are interested in. This is a subject you really need to dig into on the chassis-specific forum that you're interested in, not a computer tech forum.

But, unless you really want to throw dollars at something custom, buy something off the shelf. Much cheaper and 99% as high performing. I say that having cut and welded a number of exhaust configs (single, dual, big single, big dual, blah) on my car over the years. It's a pain in the ass so just buy a catback exhaust that you like both the look of and the sound of (youtube has allll kinds of exhaust vids) that is designed to fit your car.

Mostly you want an exhaust you like the sound of if you have a stock engine.  It's not for performance

Also, if your state does emissions testing make sure you budget for a catalytic converter. Some aftermarket kits are catless.

Actually, you should put a cat on a road car regardless, but that's your call in the end.

If power is your goal, figure out what chassis you want and then what exhausts the competitive racers are using, keeping in mind gains from exhaust only are minimal compared to gains when intake/tuning/fuel/FI are also fiddled with. If sound, seek youtube, but all 4 cyls aside from s14 and f20c sound awful, especially turbos. Loud 4cyl engines are just obnoxious, though sure extra power I guess. If quiet and power is the goal, spend lots of money.

The engine is an air pump. The better it can breathe, the more power it can make, but won't necessarily.

Material is almost irrelevant for exhaust. Yea you want stainless but everything is stainless until you get into specialist exhausts that cost a ton.

Flow is the key variable, but not in isolation, and not without accounting for tuning.

There is no budget range here as that is highly chassis specific. Buy something off the shelf from a reputable brand and be done. Just keep in mind that you can very easily make your performance worse by buying a "Race Exhaust" that alters the powerband drastically. Case in point: E46 M3 common Race exhaust will provide stupendous top end power, but gut everything below 4000rpm to where it's significantly slower than a stock car right in daily driving RPM range. Racecar needs aren't street car needs.

If you're starting out on the car scene you get premade exhaust kits, especially for imports.  They did all the heavy lifting you just put it in.

You also don't put a dual exhaust (two exhaust pipes from the engine) on an in-line 4, you just put two tips on at the end or after the muffler.

Hardline tubing also doesn't care much about all your bends and stuff, making it "efficient" with minimal routing is more about aesthetics than cooling.

There is much more science involved in exhaust design than in water cooling. As in, gas flow dynamics, pressure wave equalization, scavenging, emissions, etc. Water cooling is much more analogous to....well, the water cooling system in nearly all engines.

Read up on Burns Stainless website for a decent primer. A properly designed exhaust will make more power and torque in the rpm range the car will be targeted to.....at the expense, usually, of other rpm bands AND cubic dollars.

Is it the same as hard line water cooling? I suppose in the sense that you are bending and routing tube yes but the tools and skills are a very different domain.

Making a custom exhaust system is a common thing in the car modification community but requires certain skills and equipment to do it yourself. You'll need some form of power saw to cut the steel tube, a big tube bender, and a welder to put it all together. Its a big barrier to entry but if you want to do it then go for it. Otherwise you can go to a muffler shop and have them build it. You could even ask if you can help them out in the shop and be involved in the process.

Honestly I'd go with a 1600 or 2600 as the GPU really doesnt need all that many CPU horses. If you do other work you may wanna get a 1700/2700 instead. Get yourself some 2666-3000MHz mem would be my suggestion.

What are some unique CPUs? Like the Intel Xeon E5-2692 that was created EXCLUSIVELY for the TH-2 supercomputer? Some like the unreleased Auburndale CPUs, or ES Itaniums?

I've heard rumors about mobile i5s with 3 cores (as opposed to 2).

The CELL Broadband Engine by IBM and Sony,
That CPU could process graphics like a GPU on the same transistors it processes normal CPU tasks,
The Playstation 3 used that CPU,and that's why it performed better than PCs with the 7800 GTX based GPU. (The PS3 had a 7800 GTX based GPU)

AMD and Ubisoft went through the exact same thing. In 2012 AMD released the FX-8320 or... I don't remember the exact number. 8330? Anyway, it was the most disappointing CPU ever for AMD fans, then they released the FX-8350 the next year and it was actually GOOD but it was too late. AMD's reputation was ruined. Ubisoft released Assassin's Creed Unity, with game-breaking glitches and bugs and problems, and everyone gave it bad reviews. When they released AC Syndicate the next year, a significantly improved and better game, sales were WAYYY down because of Unity. I think tech community members are way too hard on the companies they like. Mistakes are what causes huge innovations to happen.

Under $100 means you still have AIO options but they are mediocre against the same priced Air Coolers.

The air coolers I meant are Noctua, Cooler Master, Be quiet!, Cryorig (my personal best)
for a specific product I would go for Noctua NH-U12S SE-AM4
