  1. That's a laptop, but with upgradeable CPU and GPU, battery serves as a UPS mostly.
  2. Sorry, but isn't Linus the one who's asking for 4K 120hz, and even have a video for all his dream about such monitor? Now you have it, and you call it a "toy than a tool". You guys are unbelievable.
  3. So what, not every LTT video is good, and I don't watch everything they provide. I subscribe because they have some interesting videos and projects, if there is only little content on FloatPlane that interests me then why subscribe, right? This is not something about personal worship, isn't it? They are content creators, and provide content, good and consistent content brings credibility, but if contents go down, credibility go down, if no idea about what content would be, then how can credibility come? DRM-free, ad-free? not my concern as long as they stay in a non-aggressive way. Content is the real juice, those ad-free thing are just bonus. Edit: To be clear, the payment page on FloatPlane says nothing, and DRM-free, ad-free features are listed in forum purchase page. Not that I won't pay the 3$ (say if contents are interesting), but that I pay because of contents, not because of DRM-free or ad-free feature (nice to have but not the point of purchase).
  4. Because if I don't know the content this creator provides, I won't paid him/her. FloatPlane doesn't give any information before one pay, isn't it? Just because it is cheap, doesn't mean people would like to pay.
  5. Never mind, I decide to send an email to float plane directly, how can I delete this. --------------- Wendell went to LTT last week and I'm hoping to watch the Looking Glass video. However it is not on the YouTube yet even after so many days. I searched around and saw people said that is on FloatPlane, then I went to the website and got zero information about what's going on on FloatPlane except asking me for money. 1. www.floatplane.com doesn't give any information about its association with LTT, I don't even sure I went to the right website until I saw "Sign in with LTT forum", which hidden under "More sign-in option". I mean, could you at least make an about page for this site, so that people won't scratching their head before they decide to create an account. 2. After login, I couldn't find any information about what I'm about to pay for. Could you at least give some detail (thumbnails or titles or short introduction) about what this payment is? The "Description: Basic package for Linus Tech Tips" makes no sense to users. For me, I would like to watch the Looking Glass video, and I don't even know if I can get that video after I paid.
  6. In fact, Alienware 17 do have a HDMI IN port. However, that only exist in past generation (2015 and before). In recent years, no laptop support that feature. Hope still exist if you purchase a USB video capture card.
  7. Precision 7520 + Razer Core, you can choose a GTX 1070 or 1080 or even 1080ti. Under $3700 total, for sure.
  8. That's completely you own decision, $3000 dollar are more than enough for P50, or P51, or anyother 15 inch workstation from dell or lenovo. HP on the other hand, is much more expensive. P50s is not recommended, it only features a dual-core CPU.
  9. Well, P51 will be available in April (not sure the exact date), with the most powerful mobile CPU ever (E3-1535 v6 3.10-4.20). Or you can have that configuration right now if you choose Dell Precision 7520 (just available today), with one M.2 slot and one HDD slot, while P50/51 have two M.2 slot and one HDD slot, other aspect are pretty much the same.
  10. Noted that KabyLake provide H.265/HEVC (successor to H.264) 10-bit (the standard) hardware decode, while SkyLake only provide HEVC 8-bit. So, if watching HEVC video is on your plate, go for a KabyLake.
  11. Gaming laptop for college work? Won't that be awkward when attending meeting, those gaming style looking?
  12. So...This thread was posted in Razer forum about 10 hours ago, but for some reason deleted. Don't know why. I'm about to make my purchase, but something about Razer Core still confuse me, hope I can get some help here. My plan is to use windows in my laptop for some non-Linux task, MS Office, games, etc. And I'm planning to install Ubuntu in a Hyper-V virtual machine, then use a PCI Passthrough feature windows provided to pass my dGPU to Ubuntu VM, so that I can run some GPU compute task(not gonna use it for display). Tutorial about how to use such PCI Passthrough feature can be found here, it's well documented. And it should work just fine if you're using up-to-date Windows 10 Pro(not Home edition), or Server 2016. However, since Razer Core is using some other magic, I'm not sure if the driver of Core will conflict with the PCI Passthrough feature. It would be of great help if someone have Core can do some experiment, and share some results. Thanks very much. Introduction to Windows Server 2016 Hyper-V Discrete Device Assignment.pdf
