  1. I just got a new condo and need to set up my home network. I am planning on buying a modem instead of renting from my isp. I am also looking into a wifi router. It is just going to be myself and a roommate so we don't need many ethernet ports. However we both game online and want reliable pretty fast internet. We are planning to get at least 25 mbps internet speed from my comcast, possibly more. We both have several devices that will be online at the same time. we each have a desktop that will use wired connection. About 1-2 laptops could be on wifi and then 2 phones streaming at the same time. It seems like a lot connected all at once for only 2 people but we are gamers and I am a computer science major who is constantly doing something on the computer whether its gaming or streaming video or whatever. the condo is 3 floors but the bottom floor is the garage so it doesn't matter. the two top floors are about 800-900 sq ft. I need good reliable coverage all throughout that area. I have been looking into mu-mimo technology and that looks like something that would come in very handy for my specific needs seeing as how we could have 3 devices streaming on the internet at the same time. I have also been looking at the fact that there are at least 6 other wifi signals that I pick up in the condo so mine will have to compete with those. I am going to try to get cat 6 cable for the two desktops. Please leave any suggestions for internet speed as well as routers and modems and wired repeaters if you think I might need one. I think I am going to try to stay away from wireless repeaters cause I have never had very good luck with them. I'm hoping I don't have to spend more than 150$ for the router and hopefully not more than about 100$ for the modem. These prices are a little flexible because im not sure exactly how much the average price is. If you think there is one that will work really well that is more expensive still tell me and I will look into it and then decide if its too much. Thanks for all the help and for the help in the past!
  2. Thank you! I read my motherboard manual to try to figure out where to put the fan controller, but I don't see any spot for it. Am I missing something or do I need an adapter?
  3. I am building in my dark base pro 900 and I can't figure out what to do with the weird SATA cable that comes pre wired from the front I/O. I have a gigabyte z270x gaming 7 motherboard. Please any help would be great thanks!
  4. I am building my first pc and am trying to put some more case fans because the excess heat the evga 1080 ti ftw 3 is going to be putting into my case. this is my parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KPZHKZ I am planning on putting 1 more fan in the front bottom of my case, and 1 more fan in the top back of my case. I found some mixed information online about whether or not the NF-A15 will work as a case fan or if it is specific to a cpu heat sync. Please help clarify if I can use these fans in my case and if you see any other issues.
  5. I currently have 1400 hours on team fortress 2..... yeah i have problems lol
  6. Hey so I am getting the gtx 1080 ti. I have never had a gaming pc so I want to try all the games I can. Please let me know your favorite games, price is no problem. I especially like fps but I like all games so let me know if you think I should try any!
  7. A wooden table won't hurt it? Then why does Luke recommend to put it on the box instead?
  8. I'm about to build my first computer but I'm not sure about all the safety procedures I should take. I got an anti static wrist strap and I know I should attach the clip to the metal vent thing on the psu but do I need other protection as well? I am going to try to use the motherboard box as a sort of test bench but if I put the motherboard on carpet is that going to possibly hurt it?
  9. I am going to get the GTX 1080ti but nvidia is sold out. I found one on newegg, but it is from ASUS not Nvidia. I just wanted to make sure that it is still the founders edition stock nvidia card or is it an ASUS variation? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126185&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Video+Card+-+Nvidia-_-N82E16814126185&gclid=Cj0KEQiAgJTGBRDLr5_az_Ouk44BEiQAIxaA4rz7G9eMqWp6KnoyrOznpbK-UQS0pKeiGpbHJ6otu2UaAjLA8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds
  10. I am building a new pc and am going to use a 500gb SSD and a 2tb HDD. I am using my rig mostly for gaming with a little bit of content creation as well. I may also want to set up a virtual machine later. I have heard a lot of builds that set up RAID 0 in the UEFI but I'm not entirely sure why. Should I be using RAID 0? If not, what should I use?
  11. Hey I'm looking to build a new gaming computer, but I also want to be able to do some decent content creation. I enjoy some 3D modeling in programs like blender and I want to continue that. I don't really know what processor I want or need though. My current parts list is a gtx 1080ti, intel i7 7700k, g. Skill 2x16gb ram. I also want to put an optical drive(probably gonna get an lg don't know the exact model though. Something that can read and write blu ray). I am going for a 1 terabyte hard drive and a 500gb ssd. I also would like several decent (preferably 2 or so USB 2.0 and 3 or so USB 3.0 and 3.1) USB ports in the motherboard. I also want to be able to expand later on with another graphics card and possibly more ram if needed. So I need a motherboard that can support those expansions. Any suggestions on processor, case, motherboard, and maybe a good high refresh rate monitor that isn't $1000+?
  12. Does Linus know more than 1 language? I am especially curious if he knows any ASL(American Sign Language) because in this video at 1:13 he signs 70 in asl.
