  1. Hello All, I'm a computer monitor gamer with the Series X, PC, and soon a PS5. I've been playing on a ASUS VG259QM monitor, and I'm wanting to try HDR content, I would just get a 4k HDR tv for my family room but my children are a little.... busy, so I'm hesitant to get something that nice at this time for the big area. Everywhere I read they say that 1440p and HDR won't work because both the Xbox and PS5 need to have a 4k signal for it to work. Is this the case? Is 1440p 120hz HDR just not possible for console players? I know that I could only get like HDR600 or something to that effect, but in my mind something is better than nothing (which is where I'm coming from). Is it worth it to do 1440, or should I just save up for 4k?
  2. I'm dreaming about my future and the theater room we will soon have. My screen budget is $3500. Size and Picture are the most important to me. So the TV I like so far is this one: https://www.costco.com/Samsung-82%22-Class-(81.5%22-Diag.)-4K-UHD-QLED-LCD-TV.product.100485491.html My wife and I went to Costco and she says it os too small. So we are looking into projectors... I don't recognoze any of the brands. I'd prefer short throw and low maintenance. Anyone have any ideas?
  3. Can we get a task manager view of the CPU rather than Disk 0?
  4. My brother found a T450 at a Goodwill for $20. Huge steal, he wants it to be extremely fast and the hard drive in it is slow as molasses. I have two aData m.2 SSDs (128gb) that I thought would be fun to run in Raid 0 for school. He will be using it just for writing down notes in Google Drive so capacity shouldn't be too big of an issue. Is that sort of hardware available? I can't seem to find it or I don't exactly know what to look for.
  5. Okay well obviously I'm a d****** that knows nothing so I will just ask this because someone can't seem to dream about anything. Would you rather have a new processor lineup come out that has two processors in the same SKU one that has more cores but a lower frequency and another that has less cores but a higher frequency?
  6. Isn't that there choice? I forgot where I read it but I heard intel is shifting priorities to outside of the processor game, and as technolgies continue to advance things will change. While you said it is done for I don't think it is, I agree ot slowed down to a crawl in the past decade but there is still leaps and bounds being made in other areas.
  7. What about Moore's Law? With a smaller process but the same platform we can be looking down the barrel of same clock speeds, same cores but less TDP which would be huge for laptops. While I know that this is all speculation but I'm not looking for wait and see (that should go withput saying), what I am asking is a playful "what do you think on this idea?"
  8. I know not a lot of info is out for it yet, and maybe this is just wishful budget gaming thinking. How would you guys feel of a Ryzen 3600G (no onboard graphics, G for gaming) that uses 6/12 or 4/8 (instead of rumored 8/16) and trades that for a 5+ ghz frequency?
  9. Personally with how cheap they are right now I would get an RX 580 8 gig model. And a ryzen 2600. The am-4 platform should last for another 2 years and so if you want upgrade to Zen 2 or even Plus you will have those options available.
  10. Despite you giving us details about you heights weight all of that, it will still be best for you to go to an OfficeMax or Staples or your local office supply store and try out the chairs there. And find the one that you feel is most comfortable. They do trial periods for that reason, in case the one you got doesn't work.
  11. The slim Edition won't be able to do 4K. Doing the 4K is more future-proof especially if the 2020 release date for the PS5 is true.
  12. I'll drop this off here: https://youtu.be/yqcqDQFqZHo
  13. Save a bit of money and get a 2600. Unless ypu absolutely need the cores. One more thing 7nm theoretically should be less power hungry or equivalent to current gen. I read somewhere it will handle higher clockspeeds with same power draw. But that is with my very basic understanding of electrical engineering. If this question persists next semester I may have more to say.
  14. For that target a ryzen 2600x will do just fine coupled with a 1080/ti (if willing for used). Could last you 1-2 years for upcoming AAA games at the res and refresh rate too. While an m.2 is nice unless you get it on a sweet deal the sata will be just fine and cheaper. A 1070ti will be fine too if you want a warranty. The reason why I say a 2600x vs a 2700x is because games won't utilize those extra cores just yet.
  15. What is your target refresh rate and resolution?
  16. [PCPartPicker part list](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sP4DTB) In case you want an overclock or the natural Zen overclock this wpuld be good. If willing to go used you can get a 1080 for around the same price as an 1070ti. Slighlty bwtter performance. I'm assuming you already have the monitor or you have a separate budget for that.
  17. ****just my thought and oppinion on this**** You got it broken, for free. Anything you put on it may be ridiculously slow or constantly corrupted. What could you possibly gain from that in your setup? Unless it was an SSD and you power flashed it (if that is what it is called) it will be too much of a hassle or not worth it to work on. Though if you want to continue with this follow these steps: https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-wipe-a-hard-drive-from-bios
  18. My vad I meant the 2600 not 2600X. Didn't know you wanted expansion too. With a 1070 I feel you may lose out a bit on other things. You can get some on EBay for pretty cheap (if willing). The 580 8gb comes with 2 games and a slight price drop which is nice. I have a 1050ti (for now) which runs my games pretty well medium to high at 55-75 fps. With black Friday coming you can actually get some pretty sweet deals on some tech from Newberg. Anyway I would switch out the ssd for something larger but that will go above budget. 19. [PCPartPicker part list](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JNKCKB) I'm not in no means a team red guy nor a team blue guy I just like the job getting done. However, this is what I will be running pretty soon only a ryzen 1700. Want to switch to a smaller rig.
  20. Have you ever thought about running a network cable? Hiding it in trim os something I do and it works really well in those situations. Something to look into maybe at a later time? Cost me in my moms hpme (brick 1940's) around 14 hours in labor and $150 in product.
  21. You're welcome. What is your living situation like? Are you renting? (I am sorry if that was a sensitive question)
  22. You may run into some people that's a that Asus boards or ASRock boards are better than the other. Personally and this is just an opinion I think that is their opinion because I have yet to have an issue with an Asus ASRock or MSI board that I have used and tested all by myself.
  23. X370 from what I remember is the flagship AM4 platform from ryzen 1. The B450/X470 is for the same platform but for the next generation. From what I understand about voltages the B450 and X470 will be able to better handle overclocking on the second gen Ryzen CPU's. Some X470 bparda have mpre features then B450 boards.
  24. Maybe a new Windows installation? Do you have just an OS drive? Better yet if running Windows 10 just try the reinstall windows keep everything in settings? That would be something I would try if I was in your shoes. Don't have the money for a new graphics card maybe in 2 or 3 years.
