  1. I did open up the side panel and checked, I am in India and the outside temperature is around 35+ degrees celsius in the noon. The aircons are running to keep the room temperature between 28-30 degrees. Also, the tower is inserted in a space where the backside is a little bit blocked out. I am planning to rearrange the tower to a more open space to see if that improves the temps within the case. I do think that this seems overheating compared to my GTX 960 from before from Asus which ran very cool at even intense loads for that card. Thanks for the thoughts. Will post if there are any improvements.
  2. Hey PC people, I have built a new rig with the below components except for some old drives and my old PSU. The GPU is the newest addition and from when I added it, there is a burning rubber smell whenever I am playing some intense games (like Anthem @ 1080p -vsync on (60 hz) - Ultra settings. Also to note, the graphics card temp goes to around 72-81 degrees Celsius during those game sessions. Also, rarely the PC just shuts down without any notice some times. ASUS ROG Strix Z370G Gaming (m-ATX) Intel Core i7-8700K @ 4.3GHz Hyper T4 Cpu cooler 2x 4GB Corsair Vengeance @ 2400 MHz MSI Ventus XS OC RTX 2060 (this is the newest component) Samsung 970 Evo NVMe SSD 250 GB Samsung 860 Evo 2.5" SSD 250 GB 2x Internal HDDs 2x External Powered HDDs 1x External Portable HDD Corsair VS 550 PSU Also I only have 2 120mm case fans, 1 in front and one in the back. I am planning to add 2 more, 1 in front and 1 at top back. I have been looking at some forums and I noticed that some ppl were saying it could be the problem with PSU not able to handle the power demand. Could anyone point me to where to look at for the problem? Also to note, the burning smell I am talking about came when I smelled the graphics card out of the box as well. But it did not fill up the room until it got heated up. Note: Thinking it could be heating problem, I have overridden the GPU fans to run 100% always and added the temp limit at 72 C(from 84C default). Will it cause the fans to die soon? Regards, Me
  3. Thank you ppl for the guidance. I have decided now to get the below. MOBO: Asus STRIX ROG Z370-G -- Very Cheap and product page says overclocking possible. But I just want to confirm here? CPU: 8700K Ram: 2x 4GB DDR4 -- Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400 SSD: I am buying an Samsung EVO 970 NVMe M.2 (250 GB) as well for this build. Cooler: Cooler Master Gemin II M5 or Hyper T4? I might upgrade later to an AIO cooler. I am not too worried about the features of the board. I just need a board that supports the cpu and allows for easy overclocking. Regards, Prem
  4. Hi Fellow PCMasters, I am planning to upgrade my PC but wanted to know which CPU is better and future ready for the only purpose of Only Gaming at 1080P 144Hz. i5 9600K or i7 8700K? (TL;DR) My Current sys spec (I know its ancient like Linus): MOBO: DH67BL CPU: i5 2400 (4 Cores/4 Threads) Ram: Some combo of Transcend 4GB, Gskill 2GB and hynix 2GB (I was very poor when I built the PC) SSD: SATA Samsung Evo 960 250GB (Recent upgrade, made a huge difference in computing in general) -- SALVAGING for new system PSU: Corsair 550 Watts 80+ Bronze-- SALVAGING for new system Graphics: Asus Strix GTX 960 2GB-- SALVAGING for new system (Might upgrade it in a year to 2. Hoping for older 1080 to go cheaper by then) I am choosing my new components with the same budget constraint but I am planning for 6 core as an improvement from the existing 4 cores. Planned new Specs: MOBO: MSI Z370 Gaming M5 -- Chose this as this helps in overclocking and has a lot of ports with 2x M.2 support CPU: 9600K or 8700K -- 9600K is cheaper by a 100$ (I am Australia if it helps) Ram: 2x 4GB DDR4 -- Undecided on the brand. Will go for a corsair 2400 Mhz variation probably. SSD: I am buying an Samsung EVO 970 NVMe M.2 (250 GB) as well for this build. Will keep the SATA one from my previous build in case I am going for a second OS. May be a Hackintosh. My only question is will 9600K hold up in case I want to upgrade my graphics card in 2 years to may be a new one (2080 perhaps)? All I want to know is if 9600K is as future proof as 8700K with respect to Gaming at 1080P 144Hz for atleast 4 years. Thanks in advance for the effort in reading through all this. Prem
