I need to get off the internet now. Stupid PCPP had a build in it that I hadn't realized and the Compatibility Filter was messing with me.

So long as your temps are good it won't be an issue. Example - my current CPU has a 900Mhz OC over it's base. I run this temp all day every day (on air cooling no less). Right now my cpu temp is about 36C.- 26 replies

For gaming purposes - the GTX 970 will spank the 280X for no other reason than it's pixel rate is THAT MUCH higher. In every other regard the 280X would beat the 970 but it makes a huge difference. http://www.hwcompare.com/18036/geforce-gtx-970-vs-radeon-r9-280x/

I personally would go with the 1700 - mostly because I perfer "value" over necessarily absolutely max performance. With what I've seen though, the 1700 clocks pretty damn close to where the 1800x is clocking. You'd mentioned wanting the XFR of the X chips - me personally I'd have that turned off and run a stable OC'd clock.- 26 replies

Looks good to me - though I really question the dual 980ti config - but seeing as you've already got them then sounds great!- 26 replies

AMD A6-5400K Overclock Help Needed
robertpartridge replied to EpicSOB's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
So you have the stock heatsink / fan. Are you planning on upgrading this? Not just the case cooling but the CPU cooling. -
I'm right now running a reference GTX 970 on a OC'd FX-6300. The RX 480 isn't that much better than it. If I'm experiencing a bottleneck I sure as hell can't tell. Of course though it all depends on what titles you're running and at what resolution.
-
The only things I could say would be 1 - Ryzen 1700 would do better for some of your intended uses (but I know not everyone wants to go AMD, or at least not this close to product launch) and 2 - the surveillance drive? Otherwise that's a sweet build!

The 600W was in a Athlon X4 635 build. Edit: most recently. Before that it had an X2.
-
Before that I used numerous Rosewill RV350 PSUs without a single problem ever.
-
The last one I had was the Rosewill RP600V2-S-SL 600W that I bought in 2007. I used it for 8 years.

Help me choose parts - best value

The Node 202 - but it wasn't available in Canada - I looked. -
I've seen more comments in 5 days about "don't use that PSU" ... I've used numerous Rosewill PSUs over the last 10yrs+ and never had a single issue with one - even when overclocking.
-
The stock cooler will work just fine so you can shave $17 right there.

Just like when choosing cases - I went with the Fractal over the Silverstone because he'd upped the budget and I feel the layout inside is better / easier to work with.
