Well... that's a pretty good deal for a gaming rig.
 
Then again that should be the 9700K pricing already, with the 9700 and 9700KF being even cheaper to keep Intel very competitive...

Considering you do a bit of everything, the 9700k is no match for the 3700x. For streaming, the 3700x is as good, if not better than the 9900k (Especially in minimums) and will leave the 9700k in the dust.
 
The 3700x will also last longer into the future. The 9700k will eventually get into a situation where the lack of threads causes horrible stutters in-game. The 3700x won't have those issues. And the 3700x is cheaper.
 
 
 
 

PSU is overkill wattage wise, get something at 550-650W. Don't get the 212, it's a pain in the ass to mount and the 3600 should come with a pretty decent cooler

9700k is best for gaming only
 
if you want to do other stuff(VMs with linux, streaming etc) the 3700x is better because of the 16 threads. it lacks behind in gaming by a few %(varies depending on game but will not matter in anything above 1080p)
 
the build you have should be fine. you might not be able to put the nh-d15's front fan because of ram clearance though, so you'd only have one fan in the middle of both heatsink towers
 
just note that there is absolutely no point trying to oc the 3700x, it reaches pretty much its max clock with stock precision boost

I'd end up going with the 3700X list just because of the fact that it's cheaper than Intel's offering and you're not really losing anything.

Long time watcher of LTT, new to the forum. Upgrading my rig, carrying over power supply, storage, and RTX 2080 from old rig. New components are 3900x, Asus x570-e, 32gb 3600mhz c18 corsair ram, meshify c white case, corsair h100i rgb platinum se cooler. 
 
Installed the main components yesterday and routed some of the cables, still need to pull the psu out of the old system and install it.

This is my personal rig, so i wanted something cool but also didn't require a lot of work to put together. I chose the Corsair Crystal 570x and decided to add some RGB to it ?
After putting everything together, there were a couple of things i didn't like:
 
- I didn't like the fact that the Tinted Glass Panels made everything look grey instead of white. 
- The Psu shroud didn't have a cover at the edge so the psu wires could be seen. 
- The Stock fan brackets had some ugly cut-outs and didn't really look very good with rgb fans. 
- The "dark side" was showing. This one was really bad
- I could only mount 2 fans at the top, which looked weird.






So I decided to add some custom made parts we've been making, to make my build look better. Here's what i added to the build:

Fullsize Psu Shroud:



Fan Brackets (top and front). The Front Bracket lowers the fans by 10mm, which lets you install a 360mm radiator at the front and still be able to install 3x 120mm fans at the top, with our custom brackets.







Motherboard tray Cover:



Clear Panels for Front, Top and window side, and a matt white for the backside to hide the cables:




Now the case looks white as it should ?

I played this season and will probably play future seasons but I tend to hit GR70 then feel like that's enough and go play something else  

I found this "Accelerator card" that has some pretty interesting implications.. it is basically two computers in a PCI card and they market it as a nas, which it technically is, but isn't at the same time. It looks really cool. 
It would be awesome to see it doing the transcode, stream pc or capture functionality. It is basically a virtual machine card, but it uses actual hardware.
Virtualization anyone?
 
It could also be used for emulation or steam streaming. Maybe a hackintosh or a game server. Maybe find a way to pass PCI lanes through and make one of them a dedicated firewall, or have a single server handle multiple endpoints In such a way that it can provide remote applications to the host, offloading other tasks for better multitasking? Maybe have windows 7 or XP on one with full fat hardware for older games?
I want to see if it is worth the price tag.. has anyone used one of these before?

the frontal tempered glass basically kills it.
I know 0 cases (except the corsair 1000D but thats 2 meters tall (exaggerated) and 500$._
without the frontal glass, the silent base 801 tempered glass ed. is a good choice.

I'm currently using the Corsair Obsidian 450D which has been my driver since the end of 2015. I absolutely adore this case but have been tempted by the recent case trends to upgrade. The Evolv X has been on my list but I'm not the biggest fan of the front panel, especially for airflow let alone being able to see my nice looking fans. From the looks of the P600S I am dead set on it being my next case based on looks, features, and recently reported thermals.

I'm a big fan of the Fractal Design Define series of cases, great build quality, sound dampening material for a quieter PC, and available with no window if you don't care about case lighting like me.

Mediasonic looks to have some 8 bay enclosures that will interface via USB 3.1 over USB-C. You won't get full speed over all drives simultaneously, but you will be able to get full speed on about 3 at the same time if you have USB 3.1 on the computer side as well, probably via an expansion card. I don't believe there are any faster widely available external storage solutions.

PG35VQ is 1 inch larger, has HDR and better colors.
