  1. The EGS is a mess right now. It won't even let me sign in. Usually their service is so bad that I decided to stop giving them my money so I only enjoy the free games, when the service is decent enough to make me actually get those free games.
  2. So I gave Netflix a try yesterday and the results were a mixed bag. The good news is most blockbuster movies can play in 21/9 no problem. However they play in 1440p so I can't get take full advantage of my 1600p, but the problem is doesn't even look like 1080p. It could be that I'm used to watching higher resolution videos on my MacBook Air but I'm not impressed by the overall sharpness. HDR is also supported. I'm getting information by pressing Ctrl Alt Shift D so I guess that's quite reliable. When I disable HDR on Windows, the values are updated so it's safe to assume that at least at the app level, HDR is output. But then again, I don't see much of a difference with HDR disabled and enabled, unlike on YouTube or in games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Do you think there could be a bottleneck somewhere or is it just in my head?
  3. That's very helpful . They didn't say explicitely that I needed a 4K monitor though. Mine is 1600p but supports HDR (not sure which version). YouTube shows me the option to play the video in HDR but that's when I enable HDR in the Windows display settings. I hope Netflix works the same way.
  4. That's interesting. How my main PC I'm using the Netflix website on Chrome, so I'd assume it can still pick the system settings the same way YouTube does?
  5. How can you tell on Netflix if the movie supports HDR?
  6. Actually I was considering buying them online, probably second hand on eBay, so I wanted to know if there was a surefire way to tell if the Blu-ray version of a movie would have those features. Like maybe there are different Blu-ray versions or something?
  7. I actually love HDR. It works great at least on my monitor as long as you disable it after watching the movie or playing the game because it looks awful on anything else. Which extension do you use?
  8. I'm fine with physical stuff. Is there any way to be sure that Blu-rays are available in 21:9 and HDR-compatible? I would want to be that someone but they don't even have a public API that I could use so there's no reliable way to tell what movies are available where and what features are supported.
  9. Hi, I'm kinda frustrated because I can't find a surefire way to tell if a movie is available in 21:9 and HDR-compatible, other than opening each movie on Netflix. I reached out to the customer support and they also don't seem to have any way to provide such information. I'm considering leaving Netflix for any service offering a way to sort movies having these features. I'm also open to switch to Blu-rays. So overall I'd like to know where you guys find HDR and 21:9 movies to watch. Thanks
  10. I really don't know why I didn't think about that. Thanks!
  11. Browser, version and OS: Chrome for Android, latest version Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened? I made a new post in which some pictures are in a Hide block What happened? I can see those pictures just fine when I click the reveal button, but others users can't. I also can't view them when I open the page in Incognito mode. What did you expect to happen? All users should be able to view those pictures. Link to a page where it happened, if applicable: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1454883-cable-management-and-overall-buildsetup-tips/#comment-15564636 Screenshots of the issue, if applicable: Any other relevant details: If it's a cloudflare error, what was the ray ID from the bottom of the error page?
  12. Not sure what's going on. Everything works fine for me. Can you try again?
  13. Hi, So I'm seeing some sick builds here with epic cable management here. I really tried to do my best on this one but the result is average at most. For instance, I really tried to minimize the clutter at the bottom of the cable but those cables are just tricky to handle: the USB 3.0 cable is super thick and the fan cables are quite long and relatively thick too. Same for the SATA cables on the SSD's. Let me know if you have some tips to share on the PC itself but also on the overall setup. It's still a work in progress. The next step is to buy a new desk and chair. I have my eyes on a white desk from Autonomous.ai to go with a white Ikea chair. I still need to figure out how to make the screen height more flexible though because my neck is suffering right now. I also might need to upgrade the cooling situation as well because the CPU cooler is too loud right now. I believe it's a thermal paste issue because I had to use a cheap one from China rather than wait an extra week to order a more premium model. I'll also probably upgrade the CPU to a 5800X3D by the end of next year. I hope I'll still be able to find some. The full build specs are on my profile
  14. Actually money isn't really an issue because we're not talking about crazy amounts.of money anyway. I just want to make sure it's worth it i.e if these temps are to be expected and what kind of difference I can expect.
  15. Quick update: I think I'll need to change that thermal after all. Would you consider these temperatures any good? It's been a hot day, so it's probably around 30-35° in my room and I just game for a bit to see how things would go. The case is still open. I'm also concerned about the noise. It could be because the case is open but I'm hearing the CPU cooler too much. Right now I'm just browsing on Chrome and I hear it. It could be because the case is open though. The columns are in this order: current, min, max, average.
  16. Hi, I'm installing fans in my new build inside a ThermalTake S500 TG Snow case. The case came with a 140mm fan in the front and a 120mm fan in the back. I have 3 other 120mm fans from my previous build. - What's the best way to position the fans? My plan is to keep the 120mm fan in the back, move the 140mm from the front to the top (in push mode) and use my 3 120mm fans in the front. How does this sound? - How do I connect all 5 fans to the motherboard? It has only 3 SYS_FAN headers, but it also has 2 SYS_FAN_PUMP headers? Is it okay to use the pump headers to power case fans? Thanks
  17. Ok great. In that case the manual says that PCI-E 4.0 is only supported on the 3000 series. Does it mean that there won't be issues with a 2000 series CPU?
  18. Hi, There are two m.2 PCI-E ports on my motherboard, which is an Aorus B550 Pro AC. I'm using it with my 2600X. I'm confused about what the manual says so I'm not sure which port to use for my WD Black SN750 SSD. I'm sending you a screenshot so you can help figuring which port to use. Thanks
  19. Ok great. If it's like the pre-applied paste it should be good enough. I'll just upgrade it down the road if needed.
  20. Yes, probably but I would still have to wait until next weekend and the price would still be higher. I mean, we're not talking about large amounts of money but I just want to know if it's worth the wait and hassle.
  21. Well if I factor in the shipping fees since I don't live in the US, any other paste would be more expensive. They are selling it for about 15 USD, but that's the 2g version.
  22. Hi, I just received my new components and was supposed to upgrade my PC today. However, I just realized that I don't have any thermal paste so I'd like to buy some at a local hardware store. This is the only model they have: https://www.amazon.com/HY-880-10pcs-Thermal-Heatsink-Compound-Conductivity/dp/B07H1PZWWX This brand is the one Linus uses in this video Linus gets 6 degrees more using their product, but the one on the link is supposed to be their high end product and it has 1.5K rather positive reviews on Amazon. Should I go for it or order online something from a more premium brand and wait until next weekend to build the PC? For the record, I'll be cooling a 2600X with an after market CPU cooler from Arctic (I'm actually upgrading the case and motherboard). Thanks
  23. I wasn't expecting it to be, but upgrading to Zen 4 won't be cheap. The cheapest CPU is priced at $299 and the cheapest motherboard at $125. So you end up paying more than the price of a 5800X 3D, and that's without factoring in the price of the DDR5 RAM. I'd be curious to see how this generation stacks up against the previous one.
