  1. There's no speculation at all. I said that they didn't mention anything about a PC release, which is true. Based on the information Rockstar officially gave us, it's not coming to PC on release date, just like it's not coming to Switch or mobile.
  2. It's not coming to PC on day one. The launch date is only for consoles with no mention of a PC release.
  3. My guess would be 2026 but let's hope they'll surprise us with a shorter timeframe. But anyway it's not a deal breaker for me considering that we'll be playing it for another 12 years or so. It just gives you more time to save for your Titan RTX and even make kids to play the game with.
  4. OMG looks like Rockstar released the trailer earlier than planned. They set a YouTube premiere for tomorrow afternoon but it got released just minutes ago. Well done Rockstar! Spoiler alert: It's coming in 2025.
  5. I'll consider giving it a try. This brings some bad memory with my Vega 56 which required being undervolted, and it's actually part of the reason why I went Nvidia. But all in all, the fact that I need to do it now and not when I first received the card means that there's something wrong with it. It could be just the thermal paste that needs to be replaced or something more complex. I really don't like to go through all this fiddling, and that's why I love my MacBook Air so much. I think I'm more likely to sell it on eBay and buy a new card.
  6. Could be. I may have found a temporary fix. What I did is, I open the Performance settings on Geforce Experience and lowered the Power Maximum slider. It used to be at 100% and the PC would crash with fans running at full speed when running a 3DMark Spy or a stress test, but the benchmark would run just fine with this value set to the minimum. As it turns out, the fan speed settings are ignored when the power drawn is too high for some reason (or it could be that increases the temperature and therefore the fans run at full speed no matter what, to prevent a crash). I'm not sure why this started happening but it is what it is. So I played with those settings and 65% power maximum seems to be the sweet spot. I also set the temperature target to 85° and left the fan speed to Auto. As a result, when I play AoE 4 the power draw now maxes out at around 160W (around 175W in stress tests) instead of 250+, the fan speed stays at around 2000RPM, the GPU speed is at around 1600-1650Hz, GPU temperature around 75°, and GPU memory speed at 7000MHz (sounds like a lot). Now the benchmark results for the GPU are about 5% less than the average 3070 but I'll take that over the crashes. I'll do some more testing but I think I'm onto something.
  7. My guess is the fans don't maintain that speed long enough for big changes to happen. It just fluctuates. So that's 4000RPM for 10 seconds then back to 1000, then it keeps cycling. There is some change but only by a few degrees. The only moment when it maintains that full speed is when it crashes and the screen goes black. As for liquids, the only thing I could think of would be when I blew some canned air in it, but that is supposed to be dry air so I can't think of any occasion when some liquid might have been in contact with it. By the way, I just launched Gotham Knights and for a minute or so the game was running at 4-5FPS with the fans at 1100RPM and power draw at 35W. Then it suddenly went back to 60FPS and the game crashed a couple minutes later. It's super unstable.
  8. The thing is, the temperature stays the same no matter how fast the fans are running. If the fans were somewhere between the 1000-2000, it would be around the same temperature. Now the fans suddenly start peaking at 3000-4000 for no reason, with little change to the temperature. So it's not like it's increasing the speed because it needs to, it just behaves in an unstable fashion, and even limiting the fan speed doesn't change it. Now the moments when it does run fine, I'm still noticing things that weren't there before like stutters and even audio delays. Unfortunately I don't have any other system to try. I could set up another boot drive but at this point I don't think the results would be different. Especially considering that even a clean driver install (and reinstalling GeForce Experience) didn't help.
  9. It's not running hot at all. It just has its fans behaving oddly then crashes. It's just unstable.
  10. I forgot to mention that I needed a thin and light laptop, similar to the MacBook I'm currently using. The X14 is more on par with the MacBook Pro 14 in terms of design, features, and performance. The cooling performance is also very good as it's performing close to the 4070-equiped 2023 Razer Blade, with a better battery life and performance on battery.
  11. Hi, So my GPU is dying and I'm hesitant as to whether I should replace it or not. I've been using both a laptop and a desktop for the past few years, and I'm using less and less the desktop as I'm traveling quite often, and even when I'm home, I find the MacBook Air much more convenient unless I need some extra raw power. I've only been using the PC for gaming and video editing, so I'm very tempted to sell both computers to get an Alienware X14 R2 (13th gen i7, 32GB of RAM, RTX 4060, 1TB of SSD). The desktop has the following specs: Ryzen 5 2600X, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and a (dying) RTX 3070. The specs are detailed on my profile. Now I'd like to know if it's worth selling it. How much money can I get from it? I'm not sure if I should try to get as much money as I get from it, although I don't think it'll be a lot, or just have it lying around for a few years, until GTA VI comes out and get a new GPU in case the 4060 on the laptop can't run it comfortably. What would you recommend doing?
  12. Hard drives don't consume much power. Their power consumption is negligible compared to the CPU and GPU. In your case, I think 1000W is fine considering that the GPU only may have spikes at 455W. It's good to be on the safe side. It looks good to me. You might want tell more about your use cases to make it easier to make recommendations.
  13. It's hard to say because there are many variables. The best way to tell for sure would be to try it. However, I would recommend checking the wattage on the charger, but the ideal would be to check laptop reviews like the ones on NotebookCheck.com, that give you the amount of power drawn by the laptop while charging. I personally use a 65W PD power bank to charge my Macbook Air and it's working just fine. If your laptop needs more power it might not charge at all or just start losing power more slowly.
  14. That's probably why not all the screws have rusted. There are different types of screws on it, I guess with different levels of protection. No, you don't need H2O. Some metals can rust in water (and there's oxygen in water) but just the oxygen in the air is enough to make iron rust. Different types of air can cause different types of reactions i.e. iron may rust more easily in some areas than in others. I'm no expert either. Back to the topic, I don't think there's much investigation needed at this point: I just started a new game, Gotham Knights, and the intro custscene was playing with a lot of stutters. Then before the end of the cut scene, the game crashed: it was a black screen with the game audio still playing and the fans running at 100%. It clearly looks like a faulty GPU.
  15. Sure, I'll make a screenshot this afternoon. It's a chemical reaction between iron and the oxygen in their air: 4 Fe + 3 O 2 → 2 Fe 2O 3
  16. I moved it even lower, something like 50%. Fan Control wasn't running so AfterBurner was on its own. I then tried to limit the fan speed to 60% on GeForce Experience but it was ignored there too (although Afterburner was running too).
  17. As I suspected the changes in the fan settings got ignored. However, the clean driver install seems to have made things worse as the GPU fans are now spinning at nearly 4000 RPM now in Age of Empires, with the GPU utilization at around 60%. I've tried playing other games to see if it was an issue with AoE but the problem seems to be GPU itself. I first launched Assassin's Creed 3 and as I suspected, it was silent because the GPU utilization was below 40% for the most part. Then I launched Ethan Carter Redux and the fans would start yelling every time the GPU utilization was over 50%.
  18. OK I'll give this a try if installing clean drivers don't change the situation.
  19. As I mentioned, I set a flat curve but it didn't help. The fan curves seem to be ignored entirely.
  20. Interesting. I've tried to open the card to check that but couldn't as one of the screws has rust on it. However, I managed to take a picture and if that's what you are referring to, it looks fully seated. It does, but I couldn't figure out what was causing the error and can't find the error code in my search history. However, it was definitely something related to the graphics card. I'll give this a try.
  21. Hi, I've having an issue for several months now with RTX 3070 from Gigabyte and at this point I'm even wondering if the card isn't dying. The fans keep running at full speed when I'm gaming. It's louder in some games than in others, but I mostly play Age of Empires 4 and it typically runs at 3000 RPM, making a huge noise. Normally it would get at this level late in the game when there's a lot going on on the screen, but right now it stays consistently at this speed. Well actually the speed keeps fluctuating between 1000 and 3000 RPM with a temperature constantly around 75°. The worst part is the PC crashed after a while if it keeps running like that, so it's hard to finish a single online game at this point. Very frustrating. I've tried many things to control the speed, including Afterburner, Fan Control, and now the official Gigabyte software. I've come to the conclusion that the fan speed curves are ignored. I just did an experiment by setting up a flat curve at 1100 RPM, but as soon as the game begins the fans start running close to 3000 RPM. I've also had some crashes by doing other experiments, probably because I forced the speed to be too low. All in all, it looks quite unstable to me and I don't know what's going on. Also, I've taken the time to physically clean the GPU. I didn't take it apart but I blew some air in it. It's a white GPU and it looked clean, but I still wanted to try this. As expected, there wasn't much dust inside. Could it be just the GPU dying? The fully detailed PC specs are on my profile. Thanks.
  22. Yeah I actually decided to wait, considering that there are seemingly better phones arriving as early as January. I'll wait for the reviews but I'm curious about the OnePlus 12 for example, which should cost like half the price and be at very least on par with the S23U. I remember I made that same decision back in 2019 when I chose my OnePlus 7 over the S10 Ultra or whatever it was called back then.
  23. Hi guys, I'm considering buying an S23 Ultra as I'm seeing some good deals online. To give you an idea, I don't upgrade my phones often. I'm still using my OnePlus 7 from 2019, and my general rule is to not spend more than €800 on a smartphone. I'm seeing some good deals online, including one for €915, so I'm considering extending my budget a bit. I'm really tempted. However, I've seen the Qualcomm announcements about the SD 8 gen 3 last month, along with a Xiaomi 14 Pro review. I am now wondering if I should get an S23 Ultra now, or wait until January or so and buy an S24/S24+ for about the same price. The idea is to keep the device for as long as possible, so having an extra year of software updates would be appreciated. With that said, I have many uses for my phone, but the two most important factors are battery life and photo quality (I just went on a safari and got disappointed by the OnePlus 7 picture quality when shooting from distance). Thanks
  24. Hi, I've been using a Logitech Pro headset for a couple years and I am having issues with the both cables it came with. One of them is meant for mobile use (it has a micro on it) while the other one (braided) is meant for desktop use. Both cables are having connection issues and it's a shame that it happened only after a couple years. I was wondering if I could replace them (I'd need recommendations) or if I should just get another headset (in which case I'd like recommendations for something between $100-200, wireless or not, that's more durable so I'd like replaceable foams for example). Thank you.
  25. Again, it would be easier if you had a budget in mind, but quite honestly, I would say, stay away from Galaxy and Apple devices, get a Garmin instead. Garmin has much more experience in terms of tracking devices and the difference with the "tech" brands is just night and day. I'd say go to their website and see what suits you best. I know it might be confusing because they've been releasing tons of models in the past few years, but at least they have something for every budget, from $250-3000+. Even the cheapest models are imo better than the competition i.e more accurate tracking and more importantly, battery life. It's crazy to think that even the most expensive Apple watch can barely last a day with always-on display, while a similarly-priced Garmin would last for days or weeks. And yes, Apple rates the battery life in hours while Garmin uses days on their website. The Garmin software suite is also way better with more features, and that's both a plus and a minus because their user base is made of enthusiasts for the most part.
