  1. only 2. but there 90 cm from my ears so its not good and some how i have all 10 fingers inspite of the lack of grills
  2. Unfortunately that hasn't worked, (although it hast told me to update my Igpu drivers)
  3. i'm giving that a go, doesn't everyone love the sound of un speed controlled 40mm server fans
  4. Hi, hi have been trying to get a Xeon phi Coprocessor card working in a system and I have run into a road block, I don't have the Drivers for the card. I believe I need the intel mpss-3.8.6-windows.zip however if you go to intel's website the download doesn't seem to work. if any one has the drivers or can tell me were to find them that would be much appreciated. All help or intrigue welcomed
  5. Update time its only been 10 days GTX690 and GTX295 are in the system and mostly cooperating, it can play minecraft on all 4 gpus using AFR and split screen rendering, and yes it has just as much micro stutter as you think it would. unfortunately i can't get the IGPU to function once the gtx295 goes in so theirs some work going on there. the HD5970 is dead, ish one of the voltage controllers is dead and the the plx chip seems to have got very hot at some point (thats not unusual for an HD5970) im very tempted to try and fix it (the buildzoid way) but i want to here what you guys think about it. other news we may have a R9 295x2 on its way. anyway that pretty much it for now. have a good week will update if anything exciting happens P.S. for those that are interested the Yamaha is home with new fairings and lights all that is missing are some new brake rotors and a new front wheel and she'll be ride able again.
  6. forget what i said that is far better.
  7. sounds like plenty for a half decent build, if you want help planing the build and finding parts you can start a thread in the work bench section the lads over there will help you out. CPU somthing quad core intel 4000 or newer Mother board something ATX and on ethier the Z or B chipset for that generation RAM 8GB of what ever is compatible. (intel 4000 or 5000 is DDR3)(intel 6000+ is DDR4)
  8. 1. if it doesn't work, sadly its dead (assuming the pc you tested it in is of trust worthy quality, i would suggest if you have a friend with a pc with a 750w or above PSU and preferably a haswell or newer cpu on a non OEM mother board they would be the best test case), if its dead your going to need to replace it. at the same time you might want to test the other gpu in your build. 2. i'd agree 1050ti is a good card P.S. i've has the name necron1050 since long before the gtx 1050 was a twinkle in Jensen eye it all depends on what you what to spend.
  9. having tried working with this particular driver before detection is wonky for some reason
  10. i've spotted 3 potential issues 1. intel q67 almost certainly does not support SLI and therefore the gtx690 is going to act a little strangely 2. that PSU is going to be a little sketchy with the 690 but probably just about up to the task (necron1050 is not an electrician and take no responsibility for any harm that may come of there advice) 3. detection on old nvida cards is wonky in windows if the display is not connected to the card (your going to need the DVI-D cable to fix that)
  11. that would suggest that one of a few faults 1. the card is not in the slot correctly (try are installing it making sure the PCIE lock is on tightly) 2. the mother board or card doesn't like that slot for some reason (try and install the card in a different slot if you have one) 3. the card is not receiving power or something (check that the 2 8 pin connectors are both plugin and that all the power connectors are plugged in.)(even experienced builders forget stuff like hat occasionally). p.s. if you tell us what motherboard and power supply you have that might help us trouble shoot.
  12. i spent most of my disposable income for this year on the latest Ducati, and i managed to crash the Yamaha recently. i do get the point though. everybody want's to save some where. P.S. there is a reason i have my bikes before my rig in the signature. as i said it would be nice to have but not a deal breaker.
  13. logitech make the pro x which is swappable but after buying switches it would cost about 200 USD which is a bit more that i want to spend on a keyboard without a numpad. i was kind of hoping for a less expensive option.
  14. Hi, i have the same card. Here is the link for the driver i use however this might be a issue if you are runing a different version of windows. my link is for windows 10 64 bit. to get the right driver go to this link and fill in all the relevent info. P.S. this is a link to advance driver search.
  15. i would prefer to be on the low side of 150USD corsair's website only lists cherry's and having tride blue's along side the BOX Navys i didn't like them nearly as much however if they are user swapabble switches (without soldering) i have found that i can get 110 kailh's for a price i am willin to pay if the key board is aroun 90USD.
  16. Hi i'm finally looking for an new keyboard. Here's what i would like. Important - Kailh BOX Jade or Navy's - full size layout with numpad Nice to have's (i will compromise these if it means i can actually get a keyboard) - UK English layout (as apposed to US) - Black P.S. i am UK Based so i can't get anything that won't ship here P.P.S. any help would be awesome. P.P.P.S. i am aware that going down to a 10 key-less or a 60% would massively increase options but i am a bit stuck in the mud with my love of the dedicated numpad and function key's P.P.P.P.S. i'm putting this topic up because i have had no luck yet finding anything.
  17. Hello!!!! I know its been a while sorry for that. Updates - The GTX 295 works (on its own without any other card in the system) - The ATI HD 5970 has arrived and been cleaned What's gone wrong? - turns out that if you install Nvidia drives in the wrong order it can brick you're windows install. - i didn't learn this lesson the first time, or the second time, and i mucked up the third time. (i did it right fourth time) Have you got it working yet? - no Why?, i thought you just said you got the drivers installed right on the fourth time. - this is an unfortunate story. I was out for a ride on my Yamaha, and developed a puncture in the rear tyre, this lead to a small crash. now i had to be taken to hospital, survey say's i'm fine, I've escaped with only some mild bruising. there is some good news, being in Britain i don't have to pay for my health care (YAY NHS when it works). however getting to the important part this project (the meme machine) is a somewhat expensive and time intensive project and my free time and money is more focused on getting my bike back to a fully working state. however i will keep working on the meme machine in the background. Summary - updates and other things are going to be thin on the ground sorry. - however this is not the end of this project!!!
  18. Update GTX 295 is hear, this is where the weirdness starts.
  19. i'm not sure yet, it depends on what software i can get to play ball easily. i will have to get some help setting up mining on it (i never did any mining while it was a big thing) but once the build is done i will definitely do some of that basically as the first demo. if, as appears likely more visual software in its standard state won't work with this many GPUs, then i (and by i i mean some of my friends, while i provide vast amounts of tea) will have to build something custom to convince a program like blender to work with us. this is the part of the project that might just catastrophically fail.
  20. i'm thinking of doing something a little more flashy, something akin to a render. i'm going to see if i can use some of the stuff i do at work to show it off, but that is difficult due to some of the NDA's i work with.
  21. essentially that's it, at PCIe 1x for each card 13 of the 16 lanes would be used, the PLX chip on the cards the switches so both GPUs believe they have a 1x link. The xenon solution would not work because the motherboards for those platforms don't have the physical connectors to support this sort of set up. the whole Genesis of this idea was because i bought the Asus B250 mining expert of a friend really cheap. as a preview of what will come up nearer the end of the project, the system will probably end up running on Linux. my expectation is that it will probably boot with everything installed, however the software will almost certainly just ignore the cards. my goal is tho get all 27 gpu's working at maximum load concurrently. this is currently the biggest difficulty facing the project.
  22. quick addendum, fixed HDD initialisation.
