    27" vs 24"

Thanks for the input. Does anyone have an answer to the question I asked though?

    27" vs 24"

I recently picked up the pg278qr for 1440p and just went back to my vg248qe a few days later. Even after altering every possible setting/calibration/profile/digital vibrancy, the colors on the 24 seem to be sooo much deeper/sharper, they just pop out a lot more. And that 24" is a few years old compared to what is probably the best TN panel on the market currently. I'm curious, is that due to the larger size? I don't see what else it could be. I'm pretty sure my pg278qr panel is fine, colors are accurate, just don't pop like my vg248qe. If size is the reason, I may return it and get the pg258q. And yes I know the pg279q has better colors with the IPS panel, but I'm interested in TN panels for fps gaming. anyone have any experience or could help explain ? Thanks
  3. Welp.. can't ask for a much better answer to both of my questions. You sir, are the man.
  4. so what was the difference in 780 ti 1080 and 980 ti 1440?
  5. awesome thats good info, i thought about doing the math like you did, but just thought that would give too high of a number. Is it as simple as doing the math like that? and where did oyu see that about 1080 ti doubling the 970? i'd like to have a look if you have any data on it
  6. Yeah I found a few for H1Z1, found a few videos that didn't really give detail on settings or give conclusive results. yeah pg27qr is what I ordered, 144hz, 165 OC'd Okay thanks for the input, was hoping it wouldn't be over 40. which gpus did you switch between?
  7. Been looking around and haven't been able to find any estimates how the fps% drop going from 1080p to 1440p. So my question is if you're using the same system build and switch from a 1080p monitor to a 1440p monitor while playing the same game. Roughly what would you expect the difference to be? Hoping to get responses from people who have experience with this. I'm currently running gtx 970 at 1080p, upgrading to gtx 1080 ti at 1440p... what would be expected to have higher fps? and by how much? I know it's not an exact science, just looking for opinions. I ask bc I may return the 1440p monitor if end up at lower frames than before on the 1080p. Thanks!
  8. Do you think that the ftw3 kneecaps itself with the 2.0 slot gpu, making it slightly inferior to the asus strix and msi gaming x? Seeing as how everything else seems to be relatively equal.
  9. Sorry, I realize now that I asked a question comparing any 2 gpus of different sizes. All I really want to know is if the ftw3 has any advantage over the strix performance wise(cooling/OC ability). Basically I'm trying to convince myself to stick with the ftw3 because asus seems to completely disregard its community(my opinion, thats all). I've heard that EVGA has better customer support/warranty, but that's about it. Thoughts? Yeah that's what I thought, was thinking there had to be some other reason to restrict a card to 2 slots. Limiting your top performance card to 2 slots directly reduces cooling potential and volume levels. So they take themselves out of the competition for best performing card with MSI and ASUS(who use 2.5) just so they can market to the few users of SLI and ITX boards? That's how I see it anyway edit: and i guess you can SLI 2.5 slot gpus in some cases as well, didn't realize that. not sure if they can fit in some itx boards or not
  10. I will be overclocking gpu in a glass case so I'd like everything to be as silent as possible. From what I've read it sounds like a card that takes up 2.5 slots such as the 1080ti asus strix, would easily outperform(cooling) a card like the evga ftw3 2slot design . Is there any benefit to having a 2slot over a 2.5 slot besides the fact that it can use SLI? I preordered the ftw3, although I'd prefer the strix, but ASUS has been MIA for weeks in regards to their strix card. Thanks!
  11. where did you preorder it? they shouldn't be shipping in the US anytime soon
  12. I don't think ASUS sells directly from website, but I'm sure it will be on their home page whenever they make preorders available, so spamming refresh on asus wouldn't be the worst idea. I personally just have 4 links on my favorites bar for newegg, amazon, google search(past 24 hours), and twitter search set to "1080ti strix". I leave twitter up on auto refresh on one monitor and click through the others whenever I think about it.
  13. Hello, Based on previous experiences with graphics cards or any pc components, are new items or preorders generally made available at start of business day or just completely random? Probably early in the week like monday-tuesday? I realize this may sound silly. But I've been waiting on the strix 1080 ti for over a month and assume they will sell out within minutes from the hype i've read. I'm just looking for any general tips bc I work an 8-5 and can't sit around and monitor sales sites waiting for strix to pop up all day for weeks/months. There is no way to get an auto-notification from newegg/amazon/asus when something becomes available is there? Are ASUS and other companies just trying to wait it out and get the other companies to show their cards/prices first? I assume that would be the only reason they would leave their community in the dark regarding the release date, especially when most were expecting it to be released mid march. Thanks!
  14. It just seems odd since the only reason to ever choose TN would be bc its supposedly quicker, so seeing as how this is basically the same monitor besides panel type, it just seems weird, and a little upsetting lmao
