  1. Trying to build a rig for gaming, adobe applications, content creation/3d rendering (i.e. unreal engine, 3d animation) & video editing but having difficulties knowing which parts to get. I was wondering if I could ask the community here a few questions. 1) Is the jump between ryzen 5 1600/1600x and 1700/1700x considerable? Is the jump to 8 core worth the extra $100 (future proof wise)? 2) Is the X models better at overclocking & will I notice the difference in performance (non-game wise)? Not having to buy a cpu cooler and paying less would save me $100+ 3) Between the B350 and the X370 which would pair better with a 1700 or 1700x (single graphics card). I've heard x370 is better optimized for overclocking but is the extra $50-100 price worth it considering ryzen isn't able to overclock by much in the first place. (Could someone suggest a good motherboard, will most likely use an ssd (although an m.2 would be nice), 3.1 usb is nice but could live without, don't care for rgb, a nice onboard audio & easy to use overclocking bios) 4) Can you update your bios without a cpu & ram in case they aren't compatible out of the box?
  2. Oh and I was wondering is the performance between the cpu's noticeable? Specifically the lower teir cpu's ($300-350 range)
  3. My apologies if this topic has been covered already but I was wondering in which situation would you choose amd over intel? From what I understand ryzen is not suited for gaming but which applications or situations would ryzen be preferred over Intel? When they say Ryzen is a good workstation what exactly does that mean?
  4. @deXxterlab97 @JDE thank you both. I really appreciate your inputs.

  6. Looks perfect Thank you to both @JDE and @deXxterlab97. In my shopping cart as I type.
  7. I just want to say thank you so much for taking the time to help me with my build. I really appreciate it. This setup seems perfect.
  8. Total budget is ranging 800-1500 USD but willing to go up to 2000. As for the PSU it's being reused from my old computer so I thought I might as well use it. Also thank you for responding.
  9. Gaming and novice video editing/exploring 3d modeling programs.

Is 16gb over-kill for the build or should I get less?
  11. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pCc4jc Will this work?
  12. Sorry I'm googling that now. First time being aware of pc part picker. Also I think my components are so old I can't even find them in the system :(.
  13. Absolutely, The CPU, Cooling fan/liquid, Graphics Card, Motherboard, Ram, Case, Monitor.
