How about renting some cloud server first, and running some benchmarks or tests on them? Should be pretty easy and cheap to test those.

What hardware? Is this dual or single socket?

Id probably get more ram if you can, esp with 32-64 cores.

Swapping out is very slow, you probably don't want to do this.

I think the guy I sold my GZE TA22 to still has it, the only problems with the RA/TA was the steel was quite rust prone (Aus delivered model). A mate had a RA28 form his dad, they'd repainted it from bare metal 3-4 times and rust always formed on the same spots, even after treatment. They are definitely something special though. The 2TGUE I put in second sounded so nice with the twin solex's

The source only mentions ElasticSearch, MongoDB, and Cassandra - all of which have nothing in common with MySQL/MariaDB and PostgreSQL.

Wordpress is just utter rubbish and people should not use it unless they extensively blog/engage with comments. It's not a CMS so much as an incomplete collection of modules that doesn't quite do enough in the base (eg no caching) but the stuff it does come with or encourage you to use bloats the RAM use to the point that it overwhelms "free hosting" and "cheap hosting" sites, so they won't allow people to run it if gets more than 10 page views per second.

Threadly reminder that a lot of the large attacks recently, such as WannaCry were only possible because of governmental backdoors.
Australia is basically saying "we thing computers these days are too safe, and would like to make them vulnerable by design".

By the way, one of the reasons why they want to backdoor encryption is because Australian attorney-general George Brandis claims that GCHQ can crack E2E.
If that's true then they basically are saying "yeah we can totally break encryption so please let's pass this law which makes it so that we can see what's inside encrypted traffic". If what he claimed was true then they would not need a law for it.

Also, Brandis is a fucking idiot and a slimy cunt. Here he is in an interview talking about when the Australian government wanted to track (among other things) the browsing history of their citizens.

I wish the person who came up with this would test test of Australia's anti-suicide law is stronger than the law of gravity by jumping off a bridge.

Unless the subnet mask everywhere is 255.0.0.0, that really looks like the QNAP is doing NAT. And actually it might be doing NAT even if the subnet masks were 255.0.0.0 (equal to /8)

well first - is that IP one that is within your router's subnet? Can you directly reach that IP, but ping or SSH, from other devices on the network?

Well Linux can usually update even the graphical engine and the entire desktop environment without affecting the kernel. You can usually just kill the desktop environment and restart and you have an update, no reboot necessary really GDM stop and start for example.

I get what you're saying that they build it into the OS itself but it's not necessarily that, it's just that Windows isn't designed to be as modular as Linux for example. Which can be both a virtue and a pitfall don't get me wrong.

Linux is a safe move when it comes to a server OS. I prefer CentOS but any Linux distro will work. You can install Samba on the Linux server and it will allow you to setup network folders for Windows devices and you can setup NFS for Linux devices. You can also setup FTP for full compatibility if that meets your needs also.
