  1. I've got a Prodesk 400 G6 on my desk at work. I've never even heard the fan spin up on it unless I was trying to make it purposely and it's only an arms length away from me.
  2. I got something very similar looking years ago, has worked fine for me. It was something along the lines of the below (most of it looks exactly the same as the stuff in this link). Had zero problems with any of it (the longer pry things were a bit crap but still usable), and it was on offer for about £12 at the time so somewhere around $15 US. https://www.amazon.co.uk/XOOL-Precision-Screwdriver-Professional-Electronics/dp/B0BFL7TJW4
  3. Pretty much only a couple of power supplies short of being able to build an X79 and an X99 system. Might need another case, but probably have one hanging around somewhere, and maybe a few extra fans.
  4. Is it directly from NZXT with their BLD service? If so, before you do anything yourself, contact them and ask for advice, they may ask for it to be returned, or ask you to do a couple of steps before returning if they don't work. It's fairly often (but not always) RAM related, so could be that has crapped the bed. It can also sometimes be cause by GPU drivers, so, might be worth a shot at using DDU ( https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html ) in Windows safe mode and reinstalling the latest version of those from AMDs website.
  5. No, current GBP to USD rate is approx 1:1.2, VAT is also @ 20% in the UK. While the rate is where it currently is, and you have a 1:1 GBP to USD equivalent, then they are essentially the same price as each other. GBP300=USD300 once you factor VAT and current exchange rate in to the equation as UK prices include taxes and US prices are shown without. You should also keep in mind that over the last few of months, Sterling went down vs the USD a lot further than that. The retailers mostly buy their items in USD and then convert that to GBP when they go up on their store, so if they bought when GBP to USD was 1:1.1 or less, that is effectively a 10% swing in cost to the retailer, which they will be passing on to the buyer.
  6. You would probably need home contents insurance I would imagine. Most of the gadget insurances only cover laptops/smartphones etc. specifically and don't look like they cover desktops. Depending on the policy, you would may need to specify the amount you want to insurance the PC for specifically as you are usually supposed to mention anything specific over a certain value (depending on the policy) https://www.comparethemarket.com/home-insurance/contents/
  7. My maintenance routine... Dust it when it is dirty/maybe give it a clean if I upgrade something. Let AV/whatever else do it's thing. Fix or reinstall Windows if something properly breaks in it (last had to actually do that on Vista) or if I do a major (multiple component) update, I will sometimes do a fresh reinstall of Windows. I don't keep anything solely on there that I actually need, so usually a full delete and reinstall.
  8. Can I ask why? Pressing shutdown on windows 10 doesn't necessarily actually do a full shutdown - it will save the current system state to increase the startup speed. It may or may not get rid of the problem you are having if you disable fast startup if you're going to be unplugging it every time you shut down, as it should then do a full shutdown.
  9. Like others have said, check your household insurance policy, which may or may not cover it. Definitely not for warranty repair. Also, you have 14 days under distance selling regulations, unless otherwise stated (e.g. Amazons 30 day return policy).
  10. You could try making sure you BIOS is on the latest version. If the DIMMS default to 1.35 volts (or something similar), you could try manually adjusting that to 1.4 volts which may or may not help. As others have said, it might be that your memory controller on the CPU cannot handle 4 sticks at that speed and timings so you may need to loosen the timings a bit or lower the speed to 3000 from 3200.
  11. The freezing point of hydrogen is -259.2C. If you're getting down to that sort of temperature, you have other more serious problems than driving your car.
  12. Bought a Logitech G915 last year that I'm using, it replaced a 10/11 year old (something like that anyway) Logitech G110. G110 still works fine, just wanted something different. G110 is a backup in case it's needed.
  13. Did a beach clean with a group on the island I live on a couple of years ago. I'd say about 50% of the items we picked up were small sections (like 5cm/couple of inches long) of fishing nets, mainly from parts that had broken or had been cut off and dumped when a net had been repaired. Also picked up part of a broken net that had washed ashore that was probably somewhere in the region of 50-100kgs of net. All in all between about 15 of us, we probably cleared around 300-500kgs of plastic from 1 smallish pebble beach in about 3 hours. That all went to a recycling centre.
  14. https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/04337919 They seem to have been around since 2001 and have regular filings of their accounts.
  15. Mine are fairly quite, bit of noise when they're trying to pull through my radiator, but nothing awful, I tend to just run mine at a fairly stable RPM and don't really notice it much.
  16. I bought these in the middle of last year https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07X8T79QY They look like they are probably the same OEM but a slightly different model (and also just a 5 pack) and just rebranded to whoever is selling them. They are OK, definitely not the greatest by a long shot, but they aren't terrible and put out reasonable amounts of air, all still work (they were also about £10-£15 cheaper when I bought them though).
  17. £20/month for 20GB data & 10k mins/texts, could get unlimited data if I moved to the other network we have, for the same price, but they're not as fast as mine is (at least last time I checked, which was a while ago).
  18. Usually give the MB, RAM & CPU to one of my friends to upgrade his computer. He's got my X79 system at the minute, but will probably hand him over my X99 at some point and probably give him my old 1060 when the GPU market sorts itself out a bit, as he is just running my old 670 at the min.
  19. This is from Backblazes website. Sounds like your data is probably in the Amsterdam data centre, so I imagine a disk backup would be sent from there and not the US. Where are my files stored? Backblaze Help January 27, 2020 19:25 Follow Backblaze currently has data centers in Sacramento California, Phoenix Arizona, and Amsterdam Netherlands. The region for an account, selected at the time of account creation, will determine what data centers may be used to store data for the account. The region for an account is available via the "My Settings" page of the Backblaze website, once signed in. Accounts in our US-West region will store data in both Sacramento and Phoenix data centers. Accounts in our EU-Central region will store data in the Amsterdam datacenter.
  20. When you did the repaste, you did cover the full die area and not just put a pea size amount or something in the centre? You did tighten up the heatsink again to the correct amount of torque? Might be worth disassembling again and just checking on the paste you used to see if it still looks ok.

  22. This. 2k was amazing for the time, XP was awful when it first launched, and most people hated it until about SP3.
  23. Yeah you can definitely order them, but as stated, any applicable VAT/Customs Duties are payable by you (likely to whichever company has done the import). You may get lucky too, I ordered 3 T-shirts last year and didn't get stung for VAT, which I probably should have, but it was also in a pandemic so they were probably short of a customs guy or 2 and were only looking at high value items.
  24. If you're actually in the UK, I wouldn't expect much, particularly for motherboards & CPUs. Cases are often discounted, as are peripherals and storage. Motherboards you might get a couple of % off unless they have a lot of excess stock of a particular model that they want to get rid of. CPUs the occasional ones that aren't selling well will sometimes get a small drop but it normally isn't more than 5-10% unless they really want to get rid of it. GPUs occasionally, but normally very limited discount and unlikely to happen this year, unless we get a sudden unexpected oversupply.
  25. it'll probably increase temperatures if your cpu is working harder to feed the 1080ti.
