Really that new of a laptop is a problem? My i5 3rd gen with 4 GB ram and Intergrated graphics does the jobe,a real fix without spending a lot for your old laptop would be
1.Reinstalling the Operating System
2.Put a SSD and Install the OS on that
Both for cheap
I will search for the laptop for your recommendation, and tell it to you when i find it
Here is the Service Manual for your laptop:

According to that, on page 1, it looks like the best CPU you can upgrade it to is an i7-3632QM processor. However those are currently going for ~$130 on ebay which isn't worth it at all in my opinion. The next step down is the much more reasonable i5-3230M which will give you a 2c/4t CPU and currently runs ~$30 on ebay which is much cheaper.
Remember if you upgrade the CPU you will need to clean the heatsink and apply new thermal paste.
As far as RAM is concerned the service manual says the max you can get is 8GB (2x 4GB SO-DIMMS) and supports speeds of DDR3 1600/1600L.
Here is an example:

Then it uses SATA III so you can get really any 2.5" SSD you want in whatever capacity you need.
