  1. I might have a way to get a MacMini for 300€... maybe.
  2. Hello everybody, I'm a CS student and currently look for a small NUC/PC as a server, I'm on kind of a tight budget 200-300€. Since I haven't been into Intel CPU's in the last 3 years I dont really know what to get so here is what I'm planning to do with it: Some falvour of Linux with Docker and containers with MySQL, MongoDB and some custom Java programs. I will not play games on it. I need an x86-64 based solution, not an ARM PC. I have a JetSon Nano and a RaspberryPi for that but I want something with proper harddrive storage. I was looking at the Intel NUC's for now, but they are kinda expensive for Celeron or Pentium CPU's without Memory or Storage. I'm EU based so shipping from the EU would be nice. I was looking at these models: Minis Forum Intel Core i3-5005U 8GB RAM and 128 emmC (Sadly no Sata storage and slightly over budget) Lenovo ThinkCentre M93p Refurbished Fujitsu Esprimo Q520 Something similar to these would be nice, I might be wrong and a Celeron/Pentium is enough for my application so I'm looking forward to recommandations.
  3. Thank you for your recommandations, I will take a close look at the MSI GS63 and the Aero 14.
  4. As already mentioned I am for Austria, as long as the Retailer delivers FROM the EU I can order it without any hassle or taxes. Some candidates would be: Alternate.at (I do prefer to not use this one), Mindfactory.de , notebooksbilliger.de, Cyberport.de, Computeruniverse.net , CaseKing, Notebook.de , Amazon (it, at, de) and eBay (at, de, it of course) and usually, the manufacturers deliver to Austria if they have their own shop. I did look at it but there is not that much that surprises me, except some things that contradict other sources I have looked upon YT. As far as your previous question about the battery life, I need about 1.5-3h of usage with the battery before I get back to a charging opportunity. And I did want to meantion that I MUST be under 2kg and between 1600 and 2000€, the 2000€ are a hard limit.
  5. I have many stores available its more a question that some models are not available here in europe. The XPS doesnt seem to have so many issues, I have seen similar hardware for more money. But I am open if you know the issues it has?
  6. I did look at them the XPS 15 with the i7 7850, 16GB RAM and 512 GB M.2 SSD looks very promising and it fits the price range.
  7. I am more concerned about weight than size at this point, since I cant get a dGPU on most 13/14 inch devices I'm probably going with a 15 Inch one, its really more about weight.
  8. Prefaired max weight everything abve 2kg is out. Battery life is notas important, if its 1.5h its more than enough about every lecture hall has plugs. No other special requirements
  9. Hello everybody, I'm currently a computer science student and do have a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and a MacBook Pro 13 and I do plan on selling them in eBay, I should be able to get about 600-800€ for each. So my Budget is around 1600-2000€ if it helps I do qualify for most student discounts and am based in Austria. So I am looking for a new laptop satisfying the following criteria: Light: I do have to carry the thing about everyday to uni and back and I don't want a 5 kg gaming brick. Performance: Basically I want to get away from the i3 and get a laptop that doesn't stutter with Visual Studio. Graphics: A 1050, 1050 Ti or 1060 would be nice to have, I know they are last gen but I don't really need more. Screen: If I can get a 2K screen that is nice but a good 1080P IPS panel would also cut it since I'd not like to get bigger than 14". I do have a desktop PC which I use to game on and do most of my work, but I have often work to do on the way. I'm gonna thank you all for any recommendations I get, so far I looked at the Lenovo Thinkpad Series, the Razer Blade and the Eve-Tech Eve V.
  10. Hello everybody, I'm currently trying to boost my dorm network, which is fairly unstable, with an LTE connection. I have added a picture of my current network setup. The Alcatel HH40 is the LTE Router and at the same time my wireless AP. The Edgerouter is used to load-balance the Dorm and LTE connection. Since yesterday I am having grave problems with my setup, I'm getting continuous disconnects in world of tanks, while the connection still holds up to good speed, judging from Speedtest.net. Is there something I am missing? do I need to upgrade the Edgerouter firmware or something?
  11. Sadly I dont have ANY x86 based system except my tower and my notebooks, I could bear some smaller ARM deviced.
  12. I have an EdgeRouter-X lite somewhere around, I think at my parents home, maybe I could ask them to bring it when they visit me in 3 weeks. As far as I am concerned the pfSense solutions are already way more expensive, arent they?
  13. No, I am not, its connected to uni but not able to connect to the print service or anything similar, I need to use a VPN for that. The Carrier should be fine with that, the sim is intended to use within a router, in fact they sell it with an Alcatel Router. Thanks for your tips.
  14. Hello everybody, I live most of the year in a dorm room in Austria, since the last month the internet connection became unstable, and as it student, I kinda need the internet. I was thinking about getting an unlimited LTE contract but I wanted to know if there is a "cheap" way to bond the LTE with the dorms connection together and use them like that in some sort of mptcp config. I currently have a Netgear Router. Is there any way to bond the internet connection form the dorm room together with the one form the LTE "router"?
  15. Oil stains? wt actual f are they duing with their boards? I did probably damage it when I removed a harddrive a while back and since then its ded
