  1. The tool is not smart enough to discover which port the UPS is plugged into. try and change the port that the USB cable is plugged into. Also make sure you select your make and model in the UPS service tab. AdminGUI>Services>UPS
  2. Hello All! I'm currently building a Home Virtualization Server to run a Ubuntu Web Server VM, and Video Surveillance VM. My specs are listed below. While doing some research I came across this video and a lightbulb turned on. You see I have a MacBook and no PC, So if I could pop a GPU in this guy for games and rendering in After Effects I would be so happy! I have heard mixed reviews on ESXi GPU compatibility. Is it feasible to passthrough a AMD RX480 to a Windows 10 VM with minimal performance loss. If not could anyone recommend a card. I don't plan to use a dedicated monitor as this guy will be in a server closet. My plan is to use Steam in home streaming. I know this is a unique config but I figured that I have a ton of compute power sitting idle, why not use it? And yes I know I will lose performance by virtualizing this and using steam in-home streaming, but I am willing to live with up to a 20% performance loss if it means I don't have to build a dedicated PC. Yes I know vSphere is Windows only, I use VirtualBox on my Mac. Is this a option or should I stick with something like Un-RAID. I would prefer to use ESXi as I am somewhat experienced with it. I look forward to what the community has to say! VIDEO. 8 (or is it 10?) 3. Thanks for all your help! I guess I have two problems. Terrible playback and rendering. Man rendering kills my poor MacBook. I didn't know my fans could get that loud. LOL Any recommendations for optimizing AE playback. Maybe using ciniform
  4. I edit 4K video in Final Cut with no problem even in full-res playback. I know 3D rendering is more intensive but AE is not even playable in 1/4 res.
  5. Lol... a 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. I use a 5K display when editing. I edit 1080p at 1/4 resolution and it is unplayable while editing 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 16GB RAM Radeon Pro 450 2048 MB Intel HD Graphics 530 1536 MB
  6. Yeah I am one of those guys. Not talented enough to make his own AE Stuff.
  7. Its actually just a templet.https://videohive.net/item/media-travel-parallax-slideshow/19435629
  8. Nothing crazy. Here is a frame. The final output is 1080 30 FPS. about 1 minute
  9. So to be honest I am new to After Effects. What should I expect for decent rendering on a simple project, say under 1 minute. Is 1 hour crazy?
  10. Yeah but you can assign a limit. Im just trying to get a idea of how much RAM AE encoding can take advantage of.
  11. I wish I could just take a Xeon board cut it in half and glue it to a consumer board.
  12. ? Intel... What would recommend for RAM allocation to that VM?
  13. Yeah ECC is more for the web server VM. Maybe two of these? I could just give windows one tho. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA9AX4JJ4435&cm_re=intel_Xeon_E3_processor-_-9SIA9AX4JJ4435-_-Product
  14. It sucks that is not a optimal server config tho.... no ECC and only 4 cores. Maybe a separate build is the best option?
