  1. My friend is having the same issue with a laptop too. Intel chip and Nvidia GPU. I never really had this issue before but having 35 pounds of unicorn puke going off in your bedroom at 3 AM is kinda bothersome to say the least.
  2. I have considered that, but it happens so irregular at this time that I can't narrow down if it is effective. I use corsair peripherals so unplugging and replugging those can even cause issues with their software.(Which has gotten a lot worse for me lately) If I can't figure it out in any other way I'll give it a go! Thanks!
  3. So I've been having this issue since the last windows update I did. Windows 10 Pro version 1903. Last update I did was the first week of March. I have the habit of putting my PC to sleep mode every night when I go to bed or when I leave the house. But as of late my PC started waking itself up from sleep mode at random times, no real pattern in it. Can be 10 minutes after, can be 8 hours. In the BIOS I have every wake option except for BIOS turned off. Something else that might be useful, on every boot or reboot it boots straight in the BIOS without any input from me. Given I don't reboot my PC a lot I can't guarantee it does this every time. 4. So I started folding again today. Upgraded from an RX480 to a 2080Super since the last time I folded. My PC did about the same amount of work in one day as it did in the three years before. Now thats an upgrade!
  5. My brain isn't good for much at all and I don't think it's wise to bring a physical notepad with me in case I ever need a password.
  6. So I've always went by in life using similar passwords on and on and on. I know, I'm terrible and it's a Miracle I still have my online security.. But now I want to secure up my stuff and get a password manager, like LastPass or Dashlane. And I don't know which one to pick? What are you guys' experiences with this and what are the pro's and cons you've ran into? Tanks!
  7. Thanks! I am looking to upgrade my PSU anyway because of its age and ketchup/mustard cables. But its good to know I can wait with that a bit longer and go a bit lower on the power.
  8. Current speccs: CPU: Ryzen 1600x @3.8ghtz Mainboard: MSI krait X370 GPU: AMD XFX RX480 RAM: 16GB Corsair LPX 3200 PSU: XFX 650W platinum So I managed to snipe a 2080Super for black friday and I want to upgrade my rig as soon as I get it. I'm just wondering about two things. Most of all, Is my PSU going to be enough for the new GPU to run till at least next payday(two weeks from now) until I can get my hands on a newer 850W PSU? And I usually upgrade my pc as a whole, with new GPU, CPU and platform. And when I do so I format the PC and do a clean instal on everything. Now I was wondering if I can just plump the GPU in there and download the drivers for it without having to backup my PC and do a clean instal on it. Or will that mess stuff up? Thanks to anyone who will take the time to read and reply!
  9. I can but only when the control is running from within Edge, I tried it with Chrome again, same issue and the FAHControl.exe would start up but not connect. It seems to only work when I open the web control via Edge manually.
  10. Chrome, latest update. Switched to edge just for the web control and it's working fine for now. There's no icon to set up advanced control. The icon in my taskbar disappeared. Switching to Edge did fix the issues with the web control.
  11. So I've started Folding@Home this month like I do every year in October, and everything worked fine all day with a complete Work Unit within a few hours. Now I went away for an hour or two to run some errands and figured I'd put my pc to its full use and turn the dial to full until I would be back. Well I'm back now and it seems the Web Control client froze. A short summary of what's going on: Not displaying Identity No longer controling the power used by F@H Constant "Reloading" of the page, flashing every other second. Little black bar in the bottom saying "Waiting for My IP Address" Next to these issues, the F@H process is stuck at full power and I can't really seem to find a way to turn it back down aside from stopping the process altogether in task manager. I hope anyone here has had this happen to them and has found a solution to this problem. I run an AMD system so it's getting pretty toasty in here.. Thanks!
  12. Always the one guy commenting on someone asking advice but not actually saying anything.. "it's what you need not what you want" "it's personal preference" those kinds of things
  13. I once used a piece of string to tie a case fan down preventing it from sagging down and hitting the motherboard. Barely a 2 milimeter difference and it ran fine for 6 months. (Picture included)
