  1. Both myself and a friend have this exact same issue! I have always used the chipset drivers off my manufacturers site (in this case i have a Gigabyte X470 Aorus Gaming 7 Wifi). Maybe that cool and quiet thing will help. It almost never happens when I'm gaming but happens frequently when I'm working and doing small stuff like chatting in Teams, etc.
  2. Had a question about your LS40 headset and finding the right sound card that would work with it. i came across your post back in feb 2017 about using the creative z sound card, and i was looking at that card as well for my LS40 headset and was wondering if it solved your issues and works well with this headset? thank you in advance for any help you can give, or which direction you went with it.

  3. Razer has (or had) a pair of headphones that had a surround speaker setup but it was also regarded as pretty poor. Not enough clarity in the channels and actually harder to make out sounds than stereo sets
  4. I just did my build with this: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/LXWDcY The reason I went with the Gigabyte is that when they were originally listed it showed supporting RAM speeds up to 4000Mhz (when I pre-ordered). They have since changed it to 3600+ Also just a note that there may be a better RAM choice than the one in my list. I have it running at 3200Mhz right now without issue and I'm sure I could go higher with modified timings but I kind of wanted a more "set it and forget it" type system
  5. Haha yeah that first sentence is a mess. Sorry about that I started writing it, got interrupted, then started writing it again so its just a jumbled mess. Basically what i meant is that I'm not sure why there isnt much in the way of marketing for LucidSound products. And yes finding them is unfortunately the hardest part. Probably related to the marketing issue
  6. Not sure why but you dont see much in the way of marketing but I have the LucidSound LS40s and it is by far the most comfortable headset I've ever owned (Kingston Hyper X Cloud II, Turtle Beach somethings, Skarkoon Xstatic Pro, Fancy Sony headset). Honestly I'd say the LS30s are probably the better buy seeing as so few cards do DTS or Dolby Digital Live encoding. They are built very solid as well EDIT: Oh and the best reason to get them.... they show up as 2 different audio devices (Gaming device and chat device) and you control the volume of each using each of the ear cups (you turn the ear cup). By far and away my favourite thing about them as it makes it super easy to adjust volumes on the fly
  7. Ah ha! I was trying to figure out where you figured i thought lower timings were worse. I think its that statement where it should read: Yeah like i said leaving them on Auto sets them very low (the RAM timings) (see attached pic) which is why when i try to go higher (RAM speed) it doesnt work
  8. Yeah I know lower is better (hence more aggressive). The issue is when I go to 3600 with those aggressive timings the system resets back to default (2133). The XMP timings are higher which allows the higher speed. So if I modify my timings to be less aggressive I can get faster speeds
  9. Yeah like i said leaving them on Auto sets them very low (see attached pic) which is why when i try to go higher it doesnt work. I'm guessing I can get it much closer to 3600 but I'd have to manually change all of those timings (and there are lots of them). I may have to set the XMP profile, go down and record all those timings and then manually set it to 3600 (or whatever I can get it to) and change all those timings manually to what the XMP was. For now I'll stick with 3200
  10. Think I figured it out mostly... The XMP profile doesn't work and without that even timings set to auto it sets then very aggressively so that anything past 2933 or so fails to boot. Got it up to 3266 now but there are so many of these timings it's crazy and I have no idea which one will cause the issue
  11. Not a dumb question :p. But yes I am going to "Save & Exit" and choosing to save it (I even save them as profiles and then load them up and verify settings are there) That being said it turns out if I use the EasyTune applet from the App Center that gigabyte provides I can get my memory to go higher. Still cant get 3733 but right now I'm at 3200Mhz and trying to see how high I can go.
  12. No matter what speed I put in nothing changes. It always stays at 2133
  13. Also there are many threads like this: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3690508/gigabyte-x470-chipset-ddr4-ram-options.html Basically the person says dont buy into the "Optimized for" BS (which is what i have long believed and gone by without issue) and get the fastest RAM with the lowest CL
  14. Wow really? I even looked to make sure it didnt say "Intel only" or anything like that. I just tried every setting I can think of... the BIOS is also confusing in how it shows the data but overall nothing ever changes my memory speed away from 2133. Pics attached EDIT: Screenshot is just an example. I can manually set it, choose different options (one called EZOC-2700) and nothing change. It always stays the same
