MakeAMDGreatAgain reacted to Princess Luna in FX 6300 to G4620?
Whatever you do, ignore the i5 7600k, there is nothing worse than an overpriced CPU that requires another load of investment to get some extra performance... the g4620 will pretty much manage to squeeze all of the 1060 / rx 480 juice out so it should be enough for decent gaming and compiling C is rather not that demanding, I think I'd go with it since the motherboard might as well give you upgrade path for an i7 7700 someday...

MakeAMDGreatAgain reacted to GordosTacoShop in FX 6300 to G4620?
I actually went from a FX6300 to a Kaby Lake Pentium myself.
Long story short: For most tasks, they feel the same. Mine is paired with the RX470.
As far as games go in my experience, multi-threaded titles are within 3-5 fps between the two CPUs, but older, single threaded games run better with the Pentium, with gains upwards of 10+ fps. Bear in mind that my FX6300 is running @4.5GHz.
Is it a worthy standalone upgrade? I wouldn't say it is, no... however, a lateral chip set jump with the intention of getting an i7 later is not a terrible idea.
The reduction of power draw is a nice little bonus as well.

Alright, you basically confirmed it for me then. I'll be upgrading to a R5 chip or an i5. (Most likely R5). Thank you
e: I'm just sick of "Waiting for Ryzen!" lol

Complete waste of money, your paying for the better igpu, no the mhz, and thats not worth the money at all
It will work fine.

I would get the G4620 and buying a better part elsewhere.

g4560 = perfect for budget builds, it will work fine for web-surfing and on non-cpu bound games.
i5 = for heavier multi-tasking and heavy gaming
and it depends more on how many ram and if you have a ssd or hdd

Quit using chrome and go with Firefox and it is doable, or get a ryzen 3
the main difference on the 4620 is an iGPU boost, if you can just get the 4560

I own a G4560 and 16GB of RAM, works nice, though I haven't tried it with heavy tasks or anything like that, just TF2 and 3-10 Chrome tabs. I'm using Linux, by the way.

Well shit. Load up 10 or so Chrome tabs for me if you can and alt-tab from TF2 and go to YouTube and watch a video tell me if you get any stutter or whatnot lol.
I'm sure it'll prob work fine but im just so curious hahaha

@MakeAMDGreatAgain I've been swapping tabs everytime I died in the game and I didn't noticed any stuttering or minimum FPS, TF2 settings are on recommended. So, I think you're good.
P.S: 1 Facebook, 1 LTT, 3 YouTube and 5 Huff. 1 YouTube was on 720p and the other 2 on 1080p.

How do you know? Here are possible changes done to the chip that won't be visible in an X-Ray scan
Pascal driver/firmware features past down to the Tegra X1 like memory compression. Unlock the 4GB of RAM capabilities of the chip (Pixel C, Shield TV, all have 3GB of RAM). Disable the A53 CPU cores and only have the A57 cores. Overclock chip. Certification of a lower clock speed chip. Point 2, 3, 4 and 5 we know for sure that those are done. Point 1, is hard to tell. We will never know until some common game is on this system and as well as the Shield TV.

In short, Yes. I don't get any more micro stutter in OS.

MakeAMDGreatAgain reacted to Shura in Will upgrading to an i5 7600k have any noticeable difference in daily tasks?
Considering your upgrading from a FX 6300, I would recommend waiting a few more days for Ryzen 5, all the leaked benchs of even the 1400 is very promising. But to more directly answer your question, yes you will notice an increase in performance in daily tasks. The overall OS will feel snappier, quicker and smooth.

MakeAMDGreatAgain reacted to glitchmaster0001 in Will upgrading to an i5 7600k have any noticeable difference in daily tasks?
the fx 6300 can be compareble to the first gen i7 920 so id say yes you would notice quite a difference single threaded apps and multithreaded apps

If you don't feel held back by your current system, then don't upgrade. Personally I feel you should only upgrade when you start feeling the limits of your current system. Also even if you don't go for Ryzen, I would wait for Ryzen 5 since based on the current leaked benchmarks, there is a good chance Intel will lower it's current price on i3s and i5s.

here, a direct comparison between the fx 6300 and the i5 7600k as well as the Ryzen 5 1600 as asked:
