  1. Where did you get that information? Google research on the matter: http://www.buildcomputers.net/hdd-temperature.html Hard disk temperatures higher than 45°C led to higher failure rates Temperatures lower than 25°C led to higher failure rates as well Aging hard disk drives (3 years and older) were much more prone to failure when their average temperatures were 40°C and higher - See more at: http://www.buildcomputers.net/hdd-temperature.html#sthash.BOagowG1.dpuf
  2. But can you push the components to the limit without thermal throttling them? What about coil whine?
  3. Not sure if its a Tech News, but still new and interesting. So, this is a pretty cool video, showing a custom silent build. Its supposed to be inaudible, and there will be future videos showing performance and how-to guide. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZoX7glIAS4 My thoughts so far: This guy does some pretty cool stuff in his youtube channel, and for sure it's not a project anyone can embark. He makes some interesting comments during this video, such as the motherboard orientation to help with airflow and ease of access to the back plate i/o. Im sure all of you have 12min to watch this video and the upcoming ones, that shouldn't take as long to upload as the multi-part videos some other youtubers do (I know you know who I'm talking about!) Anyways, gonna put some SS. (Just a heads up, not a pretty case inside!) Conclusion time: This is not something practical, I wouldn't do it, neither have the skills or patience to try, BUT it's still pretty amazing! Share your opinion bellow! Update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3_sy3-c6LM So... here is the final video on the Quiet PC. You can actually hear his heartbeat over the pc, it's insanely quiet! A note people will question will be his choice of hardware.. I guess it's not a very powerful pc, BUT it still outputs as much or even more heat then a pretty powerful gaming rig. I don't remember the cpu choice. As for the gpu he's using a GTX 480. Hope you guys enjoy this videos as much as i did, the build log is here "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHoqYBZMc_c"
  4. The Kuhler 1250 is the best pick imho, dual pump AIO watercooling is pretty neat.
