  1. Well ok then... it looks not as bad as the other running server I found... I have been running backups and service hours on some of those discs are in the +90000 hours So I asked management about all this and the age of the serverss and the reply... well if it aint broke dont fix it.... SOOO think I got my work cut out for me.. and have a lot of work to do in getting the whole place updated on the hardware side of things... WOOooooooo
  2. Sorry not gonna pull the disc out of a running server to check the lable, and not one that might be that old.... not sure its gonna work / start again
  3. We have some old HPE Proliant DL360p Gen8 Servers where HPE SIM in reporting approx 78657 service hours on the discs in those servers. I am just wondering if I am reading it correctly that they have been running for almost 9 years ?
  4. One thing for sure is that LTT / LMG is having damage control meetings .... and if not then they should start having them. YES i dont agree with the way LTT handled this situation, but that how companies end up doing things when there is a large disconnect between management and those that are working in the company. I dont think there have been any bad intent from LTT / LMG in regards to the auction of the prototype, I just think at the company have grown to this size people are not communicating about the different tasks and how to handle them correctly. But again YES LTT / LMG should have handled this WAY better and they need to do some real damage control and do it the correct way. Its a good thing that GN made the video they did as it does spark a fire in the community on all sides, how ever i still feel that all these types of videos from GN always have a very angry vibe / tone from Steve and it feels like it is done in that way to somehow get some loud people in the community to also respond in a angry way back to those companies that GN exposes in their videos. Yes if they did it in a calm tone less people would watch the video, so that is the style GN makes these types of videos in "the angry at everything investigatory journalist style" or maybe its just me that is more to the style of Coffeezilla, in any case I feel that GN could have done this in a different way that also would have involved them in not having to have reached out to LTT / LMG. But that the game of Youtube... Drama = Views And we all eat it up Any way LTT / LMG please do right and do it soon. Thanks.
  5. Its still holding with no problem. I just put the setup in a new case for the kid that have been using it ever sins I made the mount I looked it all over and its on there good and temps are great. So for the past 2 years there have not been a problem with it and its still holding on.
  6. So my home "workstation" is a Ryzen 7 2700X 32GB of ram, but have gotten hold of a Dell workstation with dual XEON E5-2640 V4 CPUs and 256GB ECC RAM. Yes the Dell thing will be louder than my Ryzen 7 machine. but from a pure workstation "not gaming" view what would you choose to use of these two systems. Full specs of the systems Current home workstation Asus rog strix b450-i motherboard AMD Ryzen 7 2700X MSI RTX 2060 6GB 32GB ddr4-3600 cl16 512GB WD black nvme ssd Dell workstation Dual Xeon E5-2640 V4 256GB ECC DDR4 RAM Nvidia Quadro M4000 8GB NO SSD YET
  7. Someone at work will be happy as they get a new workstation.
Wish it was for me, BUT NOPE!! 😞

  11. Wanted custom keyboard but could not afford it LOL!! OK ... truth be told we have an E-waste container and I was bored. Old broken IBM keyboard and cheap Bluetooth keyboard from AliExpress found in the E-waste. IBM keyboard gutted at cut in half, Bluetooth keyboard ripped out of the fake leather case it was in. Then all of the parts mashed together with superglue, double-sided tape, screws and paint. MOM!! can I have custom keyboard !! NO we have custom keyboard at home !! CUSTOM keyboard at home !!!
  12. Where i live we have a "shed" where people can dump they e-waste and stuff like that and once a month they come an get all the e-waste sooo lately i have been going there at least once a day.. haul this week and most flipped on facebook market place. 1 Sony soundbar and remote. 1 Nordklang Soundbar and remote. 1 2x500watt car stereo amp. And previously i have found TVs, computer parts and even a Nintendo switch with out charger and joycons and all of it just needed a little love and care and off to facebook market place with the stuff i could not use
  13. Have HWinfo running from time to time to monitor the temps when my son was playing fortnite of the thing and GPU and CPU did spike at 75 degree celsius But the back of the laptop that normally have the plastic grill infront of the heatsink i have cut away as they some of it where brokken off to start with, this opens up more for the heat to exit the cooler. I have also removed a plate that are on the bottom of the laptop that would normally cover up an 2.5" SSD but as this laptop dont use that kind of drive it now have a hole larger than the drive in the back where heat also can escape from And i also cleaned the heatsinks, fans and applied new thermal paste Pics below of what the internals look like in this thing, picture borrowed from https://laptopmedia.com/us/review/acer-aspire-7-a715-71g-review-value-meets-performance/
  14. Last weekend I found a broken laptop screen dead, hinges broken off and a ton of scratches and small dents in the machine. How ever specs made it worth to see if I could get it working again. Acer Aspire laptop: Intel Core i5 7300HQ 16GB DDR4 ram Nvidia GTX 1050 2GB Intel 256 GB m.2 NVME SSD So got it all taken apart, cleaned and looked over for defects and the lid for the dead screen also cleaned up and bend into shape as to be a cover for the machine. Fixed up a 135W PSU whit the correct plug and designed and 3D printed some feet for it to be mounted vertically behind my TV. There is no build in wifi card at the moment af the wifi antennas where torn off when the screen died so anyway now it just plugged in with an ethernet cable .. So BOOM and a new livingroom PC for games and media consumption on the TV.
  15. It must be ... As your face will not get any OPPRESSION fom Linus if you use it or something...............
  16. I was looking for an Halo strap for the Oculus Quest 1 and was browsing on Aliexpress.. and came across this "This head-mounted product protects your face from oppression, No Red marks on your face, Say goodbye to discomfort." https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10000266667272.html They could at least have put an LTTstore link on the page
  17. Solo it have been running aida64 for about an hour now and avarge temp is about 46 Celsius.. pretty good. The adapter I printed is nowhere near getting warm as I can feel the cold air from the cooler blowing down on both sides of the adapter I printed So think I am gonna YOLO it and see how it will hold up over time... Gonna re-use a old wooden ammo case I have used before as a PC case and put this thing in there just to see how it will do...
  18. Yep for sure... but sometimes you just wanna see if it works and it looks like it does. but gonna print with some ABS sometime next week just to be sure, but the screws i am pretty sure will hold as they where from a older cooler setup i once used and just sawed the hardware from, you know "just in case it could be used for something else"
  19. So "borrowed" some RAM form my sons computer and tested the board and CPU in windows 10 Looks like its working. AIDA64 for a few min and if the cooler did not have OK contact with the CPU i would guess it would spike really fast in temps. but max temp was around 52 Celsius, sooo looks like the stock AMD cooler dont have a problem with cooling the little Intel i3 CPU.
  20. So have a cheap motherboard form Asrock with a Intel i3 4130 CPU but i did not have a CPU cooler for intel LGA1150 / LGA1151 But i did have the AMD Wraith prism cooler that came in the box with my Ryzen 7 2700X, but that is for AM4 Sooo F*** thack i will just print an adapter for the motherboard to accept the AM4 cooler on the intel socket motherboard and i dont think that the stock AMD cooler should have any problems in keeping the I3 4130 cool. Printed in PLA (And yes i know ABS or PETG would have been better) but kinda just gonna YOLO it at the moment at see if it works. The print file i used is this one from thingiverse. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4361016 But the designer of the file did not set the correct dimensions for the object so have to scale it up to get it to the right size. So print settings for the item in Repetier Host 0.2mm resolution 0.4mm nozzel 100% infill Scale by 9.75 to get it to the correct size. The adapter is mounted with small screws through the adapter and secured with plastic washers and self locking nuts on the back of the board. Anyway, not yet sure how its gonna hold up, dont have any ram to test it with, but if it works.... YAY!! and i not well POOP!!
  21. Nope not gonna start a youtube channel. I'm the kind of person you do not allow on speakerphone... if you know what i mean...hahahaha
  22. The previous company i worked at, we at the end of the year looked over all the old laptops and desktop computer and asked with in the company if any one knew family or friends that did not have the resources to own an ok computer and then those people would be given one of the "older" computers 2+ years old and out of warranty via the person in the company that knew those people. I have personally handed over a nice laptop from the IT department to a friend of mines kid for free.... an awesome feeling.
  23. Behold.... The dumpster dive build.. Beat up Cooler Master Elite 310 case (Dumpster find) 120mm Cooler Master fan zip tied to the cooler tower (Dumpster find) CPU cooler (Dumpster find) 140mm unknown case fan (Dumpster find) 2x4GB DDR3 1600Mhz Ram (had these already) 128 GB Kingston SSD (had this already) Unknown crappy GPU with only DVI, VGA and Super VHS (Dumpster find) No-name 600Watt PSU (had this already)
  24. I went back to the "dumpster" area today... came back with an older coolermaster case and a 120mm fan. Cleaned up everything and used a PSU some DDR3 ram and a REALLY crappy GPU i had to put it all together and now the Xeon e5 1650 and x79 board is running smooth. Almost 2000 in Cinebench R20..
  25. It works but the DVD drive is bad and wont read discs.. but i guess its an easy fix... but i already have a xbox 360 so dont really need it, think i am gonna try and fix it and drop it on facebook marketplace for cheap... as it was kinda free for me The Huawei tablet i also found was wiped it for old data, cleaned it up and flipped it on facebook marketplace for 300DKK / approx 50USD yesterday evening..
